Samael and the others carried the pod to the infirmary, where Clare, the ship's doctor, was waiting for them. When she was the unknown alien inside, her eyes showed a little hint of worry, '' I don't have the necessary equipment to deal with the unknown bacteria this unknown alien might have...''
When she looked at Samael and the rest, she noted they didn't care about it, so she sighed, ''But I can wake him up.''
'' Please, make sure he is okay and healthy first. If there's any risk to his health, don't do it.''
Samael had already saved Javik earlier in another cycle, but not this earlier. There were still some good years before the Repears attack, and the Prothean could change a lot of things with his knowledge about the Repears attack, so, once more in this cycle, Samael was 'swimming' in uncharted territory.
Also, it's easier to believe in a member of a race that goes against the Reapers than a human, and that was something Samael was counting on too.
'' Leave it to me.''
Under the watchful eye of every member of the crew who wanted to see the alien up close, Clare began to inspect it with her omni tool, and without taking it out of the cryopod, she said, ''Hmm, I don't know what to make of it. He's from an unknown alien race, one that I didn't study, but it appears to be male.''
'' Booooooh.''
'' I lost again!''
Samael marked the 2 who had just spoken and would make sure they would train harder than others for at least a week... or two.
For the next minute or so, Clare went full fanboy over the alien, and everyone didn't mind one bit because they were also excited by it all.
Finally, after the moment was over, Clare noticed she went a little far and coughed a little, '' Well, he's all good. Let's wake him up.''
So, she undid the stasis pod, put some needles on the alien, which were connected to some liquid, presumedly food, and waited. Everyone on the crew also waited in suspense.
The wait didn't take long, as the Prothean rose a few seconds later and looked around in shock. When he gained his bearings, he immediately sent Clare flying away using his biotic powers, but Samael was prepared, as he had already experienced Prothean waking up before and caught the doctor before she fell on the ground and hurt herself.
'' Thank you.'' Clare responded a little out of breath, as she didn't expect what had just happened at all.
'' Don't mention it.'' Samael said that, but his focus was on the scene in front of him.
The still disoriented Javik was facing John, Veronica, and Miranda, as they reacted faster than everyone else, closed the infirmary door, and now were fighting.
The rest of the crew wanted to help, but Samael held them back, '' Trust them and trust me. If things get out of hand, I'll intervene.''
That was enough for the crew to relax and they let things happen. But, they relaxed so much they immediately started to bet on the outcome of the fight.
This time, however, Samael was prepared and also put a few hundred credits into the betting pool. He put his credits on Javik.
He knew the Prothean, he was TRAINED by the Prothean. He also knew the fighting strength of Veronica, Miranda, and John, and they still weren't at Javik's level.
Of course, it was a somewhat fair fight, as while the Prothean had some advantages over the trio, they were offset thanks to him just waking up from a 50.000 years nap.
But, he still was confident in the Prothean winning. It's not like the trio who was facing him was weak, on the contrary, they were pretty strong in their own right.
Unfortunately, compared to Javik, they are still lacking a bit.
Samael smiled and watched the scene, as he had seen it before. Well, not saw, he experienced it before. Shepard, him, and Liara woke up the Prothean, only to be met with a barrage of biotic attacks. They managed to calm him after a while and the rest is history.
---
As Javik clearly didn't speak their language, he also didn't understand that they were asking him to stop, so he attacked them with no worries.
He did have an Omni tool from 50.000 years ago that served as a translation tool, but that stopped working thanks to the passage of time.
Javik used his biotic powers on Miranda, as she was the closest and most weak-looking of the trio, but that was a mistake, as she was one of the most powerful biotics alive. So, when she counterattacked, Prothean was shocked to see his powers being held back, and even losing space.
'' asdkadj?'' Javik said something, but only Samael understood. He asked 'how'.
But no one answered Javik, as Veronica and John took advantage of his distraction and both punched his face and chest. They held back, as they assumed he was just confused by it all, but that was a mistake.
You can't hold back against Prothean, especially Javik.
BANG
The punch hit, but the Prothean didn't flinch and finally recovered from the shock of his powers being held back. Of course, he was hurt, but not much. Finally realizing the situation was not looking good for him at all, as nothing made sense, he decided to knock everyone out.
If you encounter this story on Amazon, note that it's taken without permission from the author. Report it.
First, he made the output of his biotic powers weaker, and when Miranda noticed something was wrong, it was too late. He used his own biotics to explode Miranda's, making her fly away.
Miranda erected a barrier just in time, but when she got up from the ground, John and Veronica were fighting the alien hand to hand.
She watched as Javik used his weight when Veronica tried to body slam him, and sent her toward John, making them both fall to the ground.
Everyone now got up and was serious. Javik was now partly recovered from the dizziness, and Miranda was ready to go all out.
Just in time, Samael intervened, as this part could be dangerous, '' Stop.''
To Javik's shock, the being in front of him spoke Prothean, so he stopped what he was doing, '' How can you speak my language?''
Samael just motioned with his hand for him to get close.
The Prothean then stumbled a bit before coming close to Samael. By this point, the only reason the crew didn't shoot the alien was because Saamel didn't say so. Also, he looked quite calm, even with the whole situation in front of him.
The Prothean muttered a few things that no one but Samael understood. As he was speaking, well, Prothean, '' Who are you?''
Samael offered his hand to Javik and spoke his language, ''Grab my hand.''
Shocked by the whole thing happening, Javik did so. Immediately, both minds connected, almost like the melding the Asari had, but something different.
But Samael, who already experienced all types of melding, was immune to some parts of it, mainly the part where they shared memories. He had trained his mind to block that part, thanks to Liara's training, and he managed it.
So, for now, the only thing Javik and Samael shared was their knowledge of how to speak a language.
If Samael wanted, however, he could share all he had. His feelings, what he knew. He just didn't know what would happen to the person who experienced his mind for a moment, as even he struggled to maintain his sanity sometimes.
After confirming he managed to pass the language to Javik, Samael retracted his hand and spoke in English, '' Can you understand us now?''
Javik, who was still a little disoriented by all that happened, nodded. But he soon spoke in a hurry, '' Did we lose?''
Samael knew what he was talking about and, under the gaze of his shocked crew, nodded. '' Yes, the Reapers exterminated your race, 50.000 years ago, or in the last cycle... I'm sorry.''
A few murmurs sounded from the crew, as some knew the fairytales of the Reapers. But the scene in front of them didn't seem like a fairytale and more like a horror movie, as Javik slowly spoke loud enough so everyone could hear, '' I see. From the beginning, we knew it was a losing battle, but we never lost the will to fight.''
The mood of the crew was now serious and not a single one mentioned betting of any kind.
Samael took this opportunity to say, '' Your name is Javik, right? I saw your stasis pod and just want to confirm.''
Javik nodded, and Samael continued, '' Good. First things first, it's been 50.000 years since your species has been confirmed extinct... well, they weren't anymore. But I know about the reapers, thanks to a beacon your species left the future generations, but my crew doesn't know much about the war and the Reapers. Can you explain to them?''
'' ... I guess I could help the new races for a moment.''
Javik was a complicated person to deal with, as he lived in an era much older than everyone here, so his customs were different. But, behind the facade that was this grumpy old man, he was a good person.
So, for the next 10 or so minutes, Javik gave the crew a rundown on what happened in his cycle. How the Reapers came out of nowhere, and how the Protheans thought they were ready to face them only to be wiped out, among other things.
He decided to end his speech with something heavy, '' I don't know how much time your cycle has, but if my species was gone 50.000 years ago, you only have a few decades left, if not less. I'm sorry.''
When he finished speaking, the atmosphere on the ship was bad, like really bad. It was to be expected, however, as they just listened they would be extinct in a few years.
Samael knew the effect of having an actual Prothean talk about what happened was best, so that is why he didn't say anything to them and left this job to Javik.
'' Thanks, Javik. We will get you checked up for now. Let you rest, and then we will speak when you recover. For now, rest.''
Samael decided to let the alien rest, as he had just woken from a 50.000 years nap. He was clearly tired, fought 3 people, and he talked nonstop for a few minutes.
By the way, the omni tool served as a translator too, but Javik had a damaged one thanks to not using it for thousands of years. That's why Samael used that old method of transferring the knowledge to the alien, as he knew beforehand what would happen. He would give the Prothean an omni-toll when he wakes up from his resting.
Anyway, after Javik was sent away with Clare, Samael looked at his crew who were still shocked by what they had just heard. Who could blame them though, as they just heard an entire race of murder machines coming to wipe them all out?
So, Samael decided to tell a half-truth to them,''... I'll be honest with you all, I lied to you.''
When everyone looked at Samael with a doubtful look, almost asking why he was saying that now, he continued speaking, '' I knew about the Reapers since long ago.''
Amid the shocked faces of the crew, he retold what he had said earlier to Mirnda, Veronica, and John. He added, '' That's why I started to make the mercenary group and the company. It's all in preparation to face them. Of course, compared with the scale of it all it's a laughable attempt, but I still tried.''
'' Once more, I ask you to work under me, not only so we can stop the Reapers and save everyone we love, but also to win something along the way.''
This something was also a huge thing. The galaxy as a whole.
He was 100% honest on that part. Samael wasn't a good person per se, but at least he didn't want to exterminate all intelligent life in the galaxy. He just wanted power to protect those he loved, and that would require a lot of fight. He knew because he had already gotten the power, only for it to mean nothing as he returned on time.
But now, there was no time loop, this was it. So he would make sure no one could even begin to plot against him or his family.
If he needed to conquer the whole galaxy, destroy a planet, or kill a lot of people, to help him with that goal, he would do it without batting an eye.
