THE ZOMBIE MAN
3 - Our honored guest

3 - Our honored guest

Entering the first floor living room, the space was crowded with people, most of whom were discussing arrangements for Old Chen's funeral and such.

Ye Yang found a sofa and sat down casually, his mind filled with astonishment.

The power he had gained in the Xuan Yang Continent had actually come to Earth, which was absolutely unbelievable. Wouldn't this mean he could cure diseases and save people, earn a lot of money, marry a beautiful and rich woman, and reach the pinnacle of life?

"What's your name, you're a college classmate of Chen Meng, right?" Just as Ye Yang was blissfully fantasizing about driving luxury cars, living in a mansion, and being surrounded by beautiful women, a middle-aged man's voice interrupted his daydreaming.

"My name is Ye Yang. I'm Chen Meng's classmate. May I ask who you are?" Ye Yang stood up and replied politely.

"I am Chen Guangfu, Chen Meng's father."

"Oh, hello Uncle Chen!" Ye Yang responded calmly, neither humble nor arrogant.

Chen Guangfu was also very curious. Other youngsters were always nervous in his presence, but this Ye Yang seemed quite at ease. Could it be that he was the offspring of some large family?

"Where is your hometown? May I ask where your parents work?" Chen Guangfu was determined to dig deeper. If they came from a well-matched, influential family, he wouldn't mind his daughter developing a relationship with this handsome, radiant boy.

But if Ye Yang came from modest means, his daughter would still need to marry into the Jiang family. The Jiangs were the most powerful clan in Qingzhou, controlling a multi-trillion dollar enterprise. Their influence spanned politics, business, and the military, with many prominent figures originating from their ranks. They were far more influential than the Chen family, who only controlled a multi-billion dollar corporation.

Jiang Tianhao, the second heir to the Jiang family, had previously met Chen Meng. Smitten by her beauty and grace, he had declared his intention to marry her upon her graduation. If he was left dissatisfied, the Chen family might not be able to withstand the wrath of the Jiangs.

"Uncle Chen, I'm from a remote town. My parents are both workers," Ye Yang answered calmly.

"I see. In that case, I'd advise you to stay away from Chen Meng. She's not from the same world as you."

Chen Guangfu's abrupt words stabbed into Ye Yang's heart like a sharp blade. Though he remained outwardly calm, with that same gentle smile, the corners of his mouth trembled involuntarily, a surge of anger rising within.

"Uncle Chen, I respect your opinion," Ye Yang took a deep breath, his voice calm yet firm, "But I respect Chen Meng's choices even more."

Chen Guangfu's gaze became colder, boring into Ye Yang as if willing him to crumble under the intensity.

"You think you're somebody special? What makes you think you're qualified to have my daughter choose you? You're just a commoner, with no background, no status, and no wealth. How could you ever be worthy of her?" Chen Guangfu's voice was chilling, his disdain evident.

Their dispute now attracted the attention of everyone in the grand hall of the villa.

Thinking of the power he now possessed, Ye Yang met Chen Guangfu's gaze unwaveringly, exuding the aura of one who was superior, unaffected by Chen Guangfu's pressure.

"Li, the butler! See our guest out," Chen Guangfu ordered, annoyed by the perceived insolence from the young man before him.

"Yes, Master," Butler Li swiftly approached Ye Yang.

Although he knew that Ye Yang was invited by the young miss, he could not disobey the master's orders. "Please, Mr. Ye," he urged.

"I was invited by Chen Meng. Unless she asks me to leave, no one can make me walk out of this door," Ye Yang's voice was unwavering.

Receiving a look from Chen Guangfu, Butler Li apologized, "I'm sorry, Mr. Ye. I must insist." He placed emphasis on 'insist.'

Butler Li then attempted to forcibly remove Ye Yang by grabbing his arm, only to find that the young man was unmoving, as immovable as a mountain.

Butler Li's astonishment was evident. Trained in martial arts since childhood by the Chen patriarch, he had reached an intermediate yellow-level proficiency.

A novice yellow-level martial artist could easily overcome any regular person. Yet here, against Ye Yang, he was powerless.

The shock was palpable among the observers. This audacious young man had dared to defy the might of the Chen family in their very home.

Chen Guangfu realized that Ye Yang was no ordinary individual. He was a martial artist.

Ye Yang glanced at Butler Li's hand and said calmly, "Did you think you could move me?"

The entire room was stunned. They didn't know where this audacious youth had come from, yet here he was, defying the Chen family in their own home.

Chen Guangfu realized at that moment that Ye Yang wasn't an ordinary person, but a martial artist.

"Dad, Uncle Li, what are you doing? Ye Yang is our most honored guest!" The voice of Chen Meng descended from the villa's staircase. She had just started to come down when she noticed the dispute between Ye Yang and Uncle Li, and quickly interjected.

"Meng, stay out of this. I merely asked Uncle Li to escort him out, but he dismisses our Chen family with utter contempt. Today, I will teach him a lesson he will never forget!"

Chen Guangfu held Chen Meng back and instructed his housekeeper, "Uncle Li, make your move."

"Let's see who dares!" Just as Uncle Li was about to make his full-powered strike, a commanding voice resonated from the second floor.

Everyone's gaze shifted upwards, spotting the elder Chen Yankang, dressed in traditional Tang attire, standing majestically at the top of the staircase.

"Oh, my god! Mr. Chen, you look so lively! Is this a last burst of energy before the end?" An acclaimed oncologist rushed to Chen Yankang's side, examining him closely.

"Mr. Louis, I owe it to the excellent medical team you provided that kept me going until I met young Ye," Chen Yankang gratefully said, clasping Louis' hand.

"Dad, can you walk now? What exactly happened?" Chen Guangfu asked with astonishment. His father had been bedridden for a month, struggling even to walk, and now he appeared as vigorous as ever.

"What happened? I guess you wish I'd pass away soon so you can inherit everything, huh?" Chen Yankang cast a sharp glance at Chen Guangfu, clearly furious about how he almost threw out the man who saved him. The elder would've liked nothing more than to give his unworthy son a good kick, but considering his recent recovery, he refrained.

"Oh, Mr. Chen! It seems you are not on your deathbed. Although I'm unsure about your health, please allow our team to conduct a comprehensive checkup right away," Louis exclaimed in surprise.

"That sounds good, Mr. Louis. I'd like to know my current condition. Let's get that arranged immediately." Turning to his son, Chen Yankang commanded, "Arrange a banquet, invite Mr. Ye with the highest honor. Now!"

"Father, why—" Chen Guangfu started, only to be interrupted.

"No more words. Just do it. Do my words no longer hold weight while I'm still here?" Chen Yankang retorted coldly.

"Yes, father!" Sensing the sternness in his father's voice, Chen Guangfu wiped the sweat from his forehead and hastened to follow the orders.

"Young Ye, have a chat with Meng. I'll go for a checkup, and later we can dine together." After reprimanding Chen Guangfu, Chen Yankang turned to Ye Yang with a smile.

"Of course, Elder Chen. You go ahead; I'll be fine here." Ye Yang responded with a smile. He felt a deep fondness for Chen Meng's grandfather, reminding him of his own grandfather with whom he had grown up.
