"What are we going to do with all this money? Is there something we need?" Clara played with a purple crystal in her hand once they got back home.
"We need a new place to live, if someone here sees us with any money we can bid farewell to our lives." Arath answered. "Hopefully with two bedrooms and a normal bathroom. I'm getting tired of sleeping on the floor."
"What about weapons, armors and such?"
"Yeah, that would be useful too, but an apartment in a decent neighbourhood has the highest priority. With the remaining money we will buy you a good spear and a good set for me too. I don't worry about armor so much, but you could use a buckler."
"I also need a dagger. My fights with you showed me that I need a close-range weapon as spear is useless when you break through my guard."
"Good idea. You are starting to think like a true scout. While we are at it if we have enough money I will buy a bow for myself."
They hid most of their valuables in different places and after making sure the street was empty they left for Ruby's. The market place was busy with customers eager to sell or buy the first batches of loot from the dungeon. The shop was no expception, it was filled to the brim and the girls had their hands full. Arath walked between aisles and looked for eye-catching items while waiting for the shop to close. Two things caught his attention: a certain scimtar made out of some dark metal and a rondel dagger. The longer weapon was almost half a meter long and had many runes engraved on it's sides, while the shorter was looking rather plainly but it's sharpnes was incredible and when Arath tested it on a piece of leather, it pierced it with no problem whatsoever. Clara's eyes were fixated for the most part on two spears labelled as 'elemental gear'. Unfortunetely only fire and water attributed were left but it piqued her interest nonetheless. When all customers finally left and shop became quiet, bringing back the calm and silence of an empty hall, Arath approached the counter, threw his bag on it and looked proudly at Ruby. She just glanced at him and slowly put her hand in it. For a moment her face froze and became as stiff as a corpse's but as she moved her hand even further her expression gradually changed.
"Arath, what have you done, child? Nobles are assholes, sure, but you cannot go on a killing spree just for their jewelry. I won't tell the Council but you need to hide." She said trying not to explode with emotions.
This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.
"What?!" Arath and Clara exlaimed in unison.
"What did he do to you to deserve this fate?"
Arath, confused, came closer and made sure what was inside the bag. It was definetely the same crystals they had found in the dungeon.
"What are you taking about? It's just crystals we found in a blind ghouls' nest. No one, besides the monsters, died." He explained.
Ruby was stunned for a second but shook her and smiled. She started to take one crystal after the other to thoroughly examine each of them. After struggling to recognise some of them she went to the back of a shop and returned with a thick book. The proccess took over an hour, as naming some of the foundings proved to be a difficult task, but once she became sure that everything was correctly labelled she patted Arath and revealed her yellow teeth in a bright smile.
"I'm very sorry but there is something I need to tell you. Bad news."
"Go on, I knew it was too easy." Arath seemed dissapointed.
"All of this is too expensive for me. I can buy half of what you brought here, I just don't have enough money on me. Some of this little girls are almost as expensive as my best armor. If I were you I would keep them and once you get enough strong equipment embed these crystals in them. They are full of magical energy and if forged together properly even junk would turn into a high quality armor." She broke the silence after waiting few dramatical moments, after which two loud sighs could heard.
"I hate you, I hate for pulling pranks on me. I almost gave up on being rich, damn it." Arath smiled too and hugged the woman out of excitement. "How much is it worth?"
"If we sum up everything you brought here? I would say something about eight hundred denars at least. Depends on how pure they are and how high the demand is. As I said I will buy half of these for a fair price of three hundred denars and any item you choose from my shop."
"Hey, hey, fair price my ass. Half means four hundred and because of our deal I get to choose an items anyway." Arath refused.
"Two hundred and two items?" Ruby changed her approach.
"Fine, but only if you buy the next batch as soon as we bring and it will be for the same price.
"Sure!" Ruby was excited to strike such a dreat deal.
"Clara." Arath encouraged the girl. She took off her backpack and placed it next to the previous.
"Next batch has just arrived, what a coincidence!" Arath laughed out loud.
"You are going to get me bankrupt." The woman sighed, opened the counter and handed over the money. Next she hid the crystals in a vault at the back of the store and waved her hand telling the customers to choose the items they want. Arath with no hesitation picked up the black scimtar and the rondel dagger. Clara asked about the elemental spear with air attribute but Ruby had no idea where to find one. Elemental weapons weren't rare but not common either. They were mostly loot found on element attributed Tower floors and the prices varied on the season and last cycle's Heroes' accomplishments. Hearing that Clara chose the best spear she could find and having finished the business they called for the younger girls and spent over two hours and talking and laughing.
