Pointers

Hanzo's house was as big as as the building Arath used to rent a room in. His waiting room decorated with heads of many terrifying beasts and stuffed animals resembled a butchery more than a luxurius room to spend one's free time. Arath and Elizabeth were alone in this long and dim room waiting for Hanzo, the Space Elementalist, to invite them to his private quaters. Even though the girl knew him personally and in the past even called him an uncle, she still had to ask him to find time for them. The man wasn't very pleased to hear that he was used as a reward but decided to grant her this favor.

"Master is waiting for you." An older butler finally opened the door and let the two enter.

The study was even more luxurius, furs of many animals decorated the floor and magical weapons hanged on the wall displayed owner's affluence. Despite so many breath taking decorations one thing specifacally caught Arath's eye, it was a giant map of the Tower. It went as far as to the fifteenth level and depicted the environment and biggest threats on each floor. Because of everything around him Arath really felt as if he was in a fairy tale, even his best clothes suddenly looked like rags to him.

"Long time no see my little Eliz." The man behind a giant wooden desk stood up and smiled.

"Hello, uncle Hanzo. This is Arath, the young promising Space Elementalist I told you about." Elizabeth introduced the other guest.

"Nice to meet you, mister Hanzo" Arath had no idea how to act in front of such an affluent person, so he just bowed and hoped it was the right thing to do.

"The pleasure is mine." He answered and waved his hands towards a couch. "Let's sit somewhere comfortable, shall we?"

His butler brought a set of hot drinks and a plate full of snacks which Arath had no idea how to eat. Initial pleasantries and introductions lasted longer than the actual talk itself. Before Arath got an opportunity to ask a question about elements his booked time was almost over. It was as if Hanzo wasn't interested in the topic at all. Whenever the conversation almost touched the important things the older man flawlessly avoided them and started talking about his past and adventures he and Elizabeth's father had. Arath fought with all his strength to finally get answers for what interested him and only managed do so three times.

"So what about offensive abilities? Do you think Space Element has the potential to become deadly in a fight?" This was his first quesiton.

"Of course. Every element has potential to be a weapon, it all depends on it's user. When I was younger a certain Hero showed me an incredible trick which I have failed to achieve so far. Imagine creating a small Gate just behind your enemy, no one would ever suspect a dagger in the back while their opponent is just in front of their face. This is how he defeated ninth floor boss, I'm afraid I can only tell you about theory as manipulating my surroundings and such fine control over elemental energy out of my own body is still outside of my reach."

"Is it possible to make a Gate in a place you have not marked nor is within your sight range?" Elizabeth was shocked to hear such a revelation.

"There is little that could be called impossible for Heroes, but I don't think normal humans can actually do it." He said before changing the topic.

This gave Arath some great ideas about future experiments but also made him realise how far he still had to go. He couldn't manifest his energy outside of his body yet, not mentioning any complicated spells such as the Gate. The other questions were about advancing to the next levels in being an elementalist. Hanzo answered them briefly but made Arath certain on awakening his spine and hands. When the time was up Hanzo excused himself and went back to work, leaving Arath and Elizabeth with the butler. He took them outside and bid farewell. Arath, quite dissapointed with the conversation, went back to his apartment after talking with Elizabeth for a bit.

"See you tomorrow, Will. I hope we will both survive to see you becoming at least as strong as Hanzo. Your abilites are already pretty amazing even though you are so young." She said.

"Come on, you are only few years older." He shook his head.

"Maybe, but it's my second cycle and it's yours first. That's a huge difference." She patted his head and left.

He got to his room and started to cultivate, spine wasn't an easy thing to awaken as it was not a single bone but a whole set of them. Luckily for him all he needed to get to hands was just a half of it. Due to his recently acquired ability that allowed him to manipulate magical energy better by the end of the day one bone was already awakened. Arath was so happy about the situation that he almost forget about next day's plan to join the Leafers again. He woke up half an hour before the meeting and packed all his equipment in a panic. This time he went with just his scimtar and a light armor, because this time he knew all he would do is carry food and weapons of other mercenaries.

"This time we will go the furthest we have gone this cycle. Opponents might be much harder as we will be close to the boss. We never know where exactly it resides so we must stay vigilant at all times. Keep your voice low and stay sneaky and we should be just fine. If someone wants to leave, do it now." Elizabeth gave a speech before they entered the dark corridors of the Tower.
