HEROES ARRIVE: 1

HEROES ARRIVE: 1

For the last time, Eisa set off outside the city walls towards the distant forest. She thought she would be stopped by the guards at this late hour, but she was completely ignored as the guards were engrossed in a card game.

“I'm going all-in.”

“Are you sure?”

“And you deaf?”

Eisa heard the sound of breaking glass. “Apparently, someone's hand went wrong.” She thought without slowing down her pace, looking around her, trying to remember all the little things. “Home.”

Eisa reached the old sawmill, now empty due to the late hour. After making sure it was empty, she started getting ready.

“Step one and most important, a convincing disguise.”

Eisa imagined a familiar blank piece of paper in front of her, which began to fill with words, and Eisa's body was covered with a bright glow, giving rise to her transformation. It started with her height, she quickly reached two meters in height, her hair easily reached her feet while it seemed to be alive and independent of her movement; her eyes took on a dark green color and gave off a faint glow. Dressed now in white and green robes, she looked at her divine body, which gave off a luminous glow.

“I hope I look half as good when I grow up.” She thought, unable to get used to the difference in height, she used her power to start levitating, it gave her the effect of dignity. “It's not enough, and if so...” Eisa focused on the paper and soon received what she asked for. Now her every move left a slight echo in space that helped her to hide the details of her appearance.

“Perfect, now the hardest part.”

“HEROES ARRIVE.”

South of the "Holy Kingdom" there is the land of "Er'das" it was the site of the last dragonfight, even 3,000 years later the earth was scorched allowing nothing but a few plant species to grow, now its landscape shrouded in short red grass and purple bushes was seen by many as cursed. It was a place where remnants of the "war in heaven" can still be found today, and rapid wealth brought large numbers of adventurers. From dragon bones, scales to enchanted armor or weapons.

The Order of the Morning had a stronghold in this accursed place called the Morninghold, it was an excellent colossal structure built after the war. It had five thick watchtowers, a huge gate reinforced with ancient rituals, and walls made of a mixture of stone and special crystals that were supposed to disperse magic, giving the fortress a blue-violet color.

Deep beneath the keep were catacombs filled with past heroes and dragon remnants. In the deepest part of the keep was the cell of the badly wounded ancient dragon Belial, who had been sealed there by the storm god Na're.

Merid, the new recruit of the Order of the Morning, sat in the great hall drinking beer with the other recruits, waiting for Templar Hutso. An aged old man dressed in shimmering armor with the emblem of the rising sun.

“The only thing bigger than this fortress is Hutso's forehead.” Said Jared one of the recruits, at which the rest stared at him with pity, not hiding their fear.

“He's behind me, isn't he?”

Jared was hit with a powerful punch that spilled all the beer from the table and he fell to the ground groaning slightly.

“The only thing greater than this fortress will be your punishment. We will start by cleaning the deepest depths of the fortress. Merid, you'll keep an eye on him, don't think I forgot about your failed kitchen theft.”

This was the moment the rest of the recruits started laughing at Merid and Jared, raising their beer mugs towards Hutso.

Merid and Jared made their way up the winding staircase with Hutso armed only with cleaning items. They passed all the Templars in complete silence, the only unusual thing being Hutso's strange laugh.

“This laugh gives me goosebumps, I've never heard him laugh like that before.” Merid thought, receiving Jared's worried look.

“Okay, you two stay here while I have to do something else. I will be back soon.” Hutso said.

In silence, Merid watched Jared clean out a cell with an ancient seal emanating powerful magic. “Of the entire fortress, I dislike this place the most. Dragons terrify me, even if they're sealed with holy magic.”

Hutso came back, still laughing now and then. “Thank you for your service, you may return to the surface.”

“Thank you Hutso.” We said in unison, then headed for the stairs. As we walked away from Hutso, Jared said.

“It was nice of him to forgive us, but…”

At that moment, we heard a terribly loud sound, followed by a loud roar, and the fortress itself shook. We quickly started running away towards the surface, we were just recruits.

At the top of the tower, I and Jared stared at the burning fortress. Belial, freed, decided to burn down the entire fortress, most of the templars were already dead. “We couldn't defeat the ancient dragon even if it was wounded, we need a miracle.”

Belial decided to slow down, seeing that his fun could end too soon.

“Traitors, puppets of the gods!” shouted furious Belial as he climbed the last tower of the keep.

“It's over now, goodbye friends. I regret my career choice.” He thought.

“HEROES ARRIVE.”
