‘This is it’
Abraham’s expression turned into a frown as he held onto the handle of a wooden door. ‘Well, I suppose I had it coming. It’s just sort of regretful having such a comically tragic life.’
He began reminiscing about his life. His life was nothing but misfortune. No matter what he did, something bad would happen each time, causing him to lose everything. Abraham kept rummaging through his memories one last time. There were a few he was fond of, but it didn’t take long for him to realize they weren’t worth remembering.
He suddenly felt a chill run down his spine, accompanied by the feeling of being watched. ‘There it is again... I was wondering when this feeling will pop up.’
Abraham looked around him and unsurprisingly, there was no one around. Abrahams’s eyes became wet. But he quickly wiped off all the tears that were being formed, replacing them with a stone-cold expression. ‘You know what... perhaps god really does exist. And perhaps I truly am some sort of devil incarnate as those... ‘Super Religious folk’ like to call me.
Even if they are mocked by the believers of the same religion they believe in. But I suppose that would explain why I am the only one with such terrible luck…. and also explain the fact that I feel like I’m being watched whenever something major in my life is about to occur.’
A sudden laughter escaped from Abraham’s mouth. ‘If god does exist, then reincarnation should also most likely exist. It seems I am finally about to be freed from this terrible ‘luck’ or from whatever existence is pulling the strings of my so-called fate... Ah, right, I can’t forget to show a smile.’
With a bit of hesitation, Abraham entered through the door. His lips immediately curled up into a smile right as he was about to enter.
‘I don’t care anymore.’

Two people sat on chairs in a somewhat dark room. The room itself was not that big, it was decorated with wooden, antique furniture and there were two chairs and a table arranged in the corner right in front of a window.
This would be the place Abraham would have his last moments.
“Here’s another cup. The wine is quite good, isn’t it?” Spoke a man roughly in his late 20s. His hair was blond and was mixed with several spots of white. “Indeed. This is quite some high-quality poison.”
Abraham spoke softly. He had a smile on his face as he looked at the man with worn-down eyes his black hair fluttered from each passing gust of wind that entered through the window in the corner and his gem-like blue eyes shined every time the moon peeked through the clouds.
“So you knew. Well, I would’ve been disappointed if you didn’t” The man spoke bitterly. His tone was low and each word he spoke was filled with nervousness. He looked up and tried glancing at Abraham before quickly lowering his head. He looked down at Abraham’s empty cup of wine and proceeded to refill it.
‘Well, of course I did! You didn’t even bother hiding it.’ Abraham’s expression turned annoyed for a split second before he recovered his calm demeanour.
“Of course. I wouldn’t have come this far if I didn’t,” Abraham spoke as he looked at the man with a smile. He chugged down the second glass and stared the man in his face with a sorrowful smile. The man was taken aback. He looked at Abraham for a few seconds before continuing, “Then why did you come? You knew you would die.”
‘Did... this fellow expect me to run away?’
Abraham chuckled slightly. His expression turned into one of disappointment but only for a split second, being replaced by stone-cold eyes and a cheerful smile. “Well, not like I have much left. Most of my comrades are dead already. Our ideals... well, at least my ideals have... died. And, besides,”
Abraham paused for a bit and looked at the empty cup of wine. Before the blonde-haired man had the chance, he refilled his cup and chugged it down again.
“I’m tired”
There was complete silence in the room for quite some time.
“So... do you have any last words? I’ll hear them. After all, you’re the only person I respect in the entire Alliance.” The man broke the silence with sorrow in his voice. He kept his head down firmly, unable to face the person sitting in front of him.
‘’The only person I respect’ huh... How laughable.’ Abraham thought for a while and asked with a smile. “What caused you to betray us, if I may ask?”
The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement.
“I wasn’t with you all from the very beginning. It feels kind of bad though, killing my ‘idol’, but I suppose I’ve now reached my biggest goal that I wanted to achieve,” the man replied.
“So your oh-so-secretive goal was to kill me?” Abraham let out a sigh and spoke with a hint of anger, but in reality, he wasn’t angry at all.
‘As I had expected.’
The blonde-haired man clenched his hands, and his body began shaking. His jaws clenched tightly and his breath became heavy. His eyes showed an expression of pure horror as sweat began dripping from his face. “You... murdered the residents of the town where I grew up—you left it in ruins! When you joined the resistance, I admired you, but when I discovered that you were the one that destroyed my hometown—I felt betrayed. Children, elderly, none were spared in your actions... for what reason did those innocent do for them to be slaughtered?”
Silence ensued. Abraham closed his eyes and heaved a heavy sigh.
“I see. So in the end, I was the reason for our failure.” Abraham poured himself another cup of the poisonous wine and began chugging it down. At this point, his head had become extremely numb and his vision had begun to darken. “I have a request”
“Leave the others alive, please.” Abraham spoke sincerely. There was a hint of sadness in his voice.
“Well… I was going to leave them be, anyway.” The man replied awkwardly. Abrahams’s eyes had become teary. But this wasn’t visible to the man, as he couldn’t dare look straight into his eyes. “Thank you.”
He quickly wiped off his tears and his lips once again curled up into a smile. His entire face no longer resembled that of someone who was about to die. It was… rather unusually cheerful.
“I wish you success. You will probably be able to accomplish this dream of ours. Live a regret-free life.” Abraham threw away the cup of wine and fell down from his chair.
‘Unlike me.’ His vision was growing dark. And even the things he could see were extremely blurry. He had difficulty breathing, and he was panting heavily. As his mind faded away, he suddenly had a question.
“Which town was it, though? Which I destroyed?” He spoke in a feeble voice—barely holding his breath. But he made sure not to show any weakness in his voice.
“Iyesgarth.” the man replied coldly. ‘Wait… Iyesgarth? Wasn’t that town destroyed by the church? It seems…’
‘Damn! So it truly was the work of the church! Or I guess I should say the work of their ‘god’.’ Abraham’s vision completely darkened as he was about to lose consciousness.
He felt bitter. There was so much more he wanted to achieve, but now, he won’t be able to. But he didn’t care about it that much. He was also somewhat relieved. After all, he was finally about to escape the chains binding him to his terrible luck. Whatever the outcome was after his death, he simply didn’t care. Even if there is no second life, he wouldn’t mind it since he will be escaping this hell either way.
“Here is a last piece of advice from me. Don’t trust the church. You know which one I’m talking about.”
Those were his last words. And thus, his demise occurred. But little did he know the real nightmare was yet to begin.

“Oh, hello there! This is the first time we’ve met, Isn’t it?” A voice that was strangely familiar to Abraham spoke. How the voice sounded wasn’t clear to Abraham, but… he just felt a strange sense of familiarity. “W-”
“You don’t need to speak.” As soon as the voice said that, Abraham shut his mouth. He looked up to see who was talking and yet again, even though this face felt strangely familiar to him, and even though he was looking at it at this exact moment, he couldn’t make out a thing except for the fact that he had long black hair.
“You’ve done well. Phase one is now over.” The voice continued speaking. But Abraham ignored it. He wasn’t himself at this moment. He was In a sort of dream-like state. He took a look around him. They seemed to be In an empty white room. No matter how far he tried to see, there was nothing other than white. Not even shadows, but an endless white void. Because of this, Abraham didn’t know how big the room itself was.
“I will send you into a good body. Let’s see… something that makes things easy for you. Hmm… too easy would be no fun, would it? I guess the upper blessed lands and heaven are a no-go. I can’t send you to the cursed lands, either. That will block off all the paths for phase two. And the under… no. Let’s leave that place. Hades will never agree. I guess the lower blessed lands it is then.”
“As for the body itself… I think I’ve found a perfect one. ”
“This will require some intervention but... I suppose it’s worth it. Either way, don’t fuck this up alright? Well, not like you’re going to remember any of this. Time for you to go now, my dear pawn.”
After the voice finished speaking. Abraham disappeared from the spot.
“After all you are…”
A blue entity suddenly appeared behind the ‘voice’ “Are you ready? They’ve found out about ‘it’.”
“I already knew this would happen. Let’s go.”

Abraham’s vision slowly came back. He seemed to be breathing normally, and his head was no longer numb. ‘I’m alive?’
Amidst his confusion, he tried moving around, but he quickly found out he couldn’t control his body. In fact, it was moving on its own. He seemed to be in a prison. Filled with hay and quite dirty.
Some time passed, and Abraham realised that this was no longer his body. He did not know who he was. He did not know where he was. As a matter of fact, he wasn’t even sure if he was alive. He felt like he was more like a ‘spectator’. His thoughts had also stopped coming gradually. He could think, but he couldn’t say anything in his mind—it was quite a confusing experience.
Suddenly, the sounds of footsteps approached the cell, and someone entered the prison. The Person looked to be a boy in his early teens.
“Tch. This is all I get? I am royalty! I am supposed to have the best of the best as my food!” The young boy let out a grunt. “Damn those bastards, I will protest to father as soon as I get back.”
The boy kicked the body Abraham was ‘Spectating’ and…
“Now then, time to finish my meal.”
Turned into a monster with wings coming from its back, red skin, and extremely sharp claws.
