Light and Shadow in City Sven-1 [Chapter 12]

The battle against Gunn was far from over. The wound in his chest, though deep, didn’t seem to lessen his ferocity. On the contrary, his green, viscous blood, laden with toxins, began to emit a corrosive vapor that forced the Elementals to fight strategically. Each of their attacks had to be swift and precise, as they couldn’t stay close to Gunn for more than a few seconds.

Meanwhile, the mutated birds, drawn by the stench of Gunn’s blood and pheromones, stopped flying in circles and began to descend onto the battlefield. With enormous wings and sharp beaks, they lunged at the Elementals.

Max, Jack'O, and Deff, the three most experienced members of the group, continued facing off against Gunn. Max, with his water sword, launched a wave-shaped slash, a ranged attack that managed to tear through the creature's left arm armor. Jack'O, seizing the opening, leaped over Gunn and delivered a devastating blow with his earth sword, creating a crack in the ground aimed at destabilizing him.

—“It’s tougher than it looks!” —Jack'O grunted as he pulled back, narrowly dodging a sweep of Gunn’s stinger.

Deff, with his wind-charged sword, moved swiftly, delivering precise slashes that disoriented the enemy. However, every time he tried to get closer, the toxins in the air forced him to fall back quickly, coughing as he struggled to catch his breath.

—“We can’t keep this up much longer!” —Deff shouted, wiping the sweat from his forehead.

Meanwhile, Saico and Punk, the lower-ranked members, were having their own difficulties. One of the mutated birds, much larger and more aggressive than the others, had isolated them. With sharp claws and a screech that sounded like metal scraping glass, the creature attacked with fury.

—“Cover me!” —Punk shouted, trying to land a direct strike to one of the bird’s wings.

Saico nodded, moving quickly to deflect the attacks with his sword. Although he didn’t have the experience of the others, his determination was palpable. With a shout, he managed to wound one of the bird’s legs, forcing it to retreat momentarily.

On the other side, Jazz fought alone against another bird. Her movements were calculated, her earth sword striking with force every time she found an opening. The creature tried to dive at her from the air, but Jazz, with a quick movement, drove her sword into the ground, creating a rock pillar that struck the bird’s chest, knocking it down.

—“Is that all you’ve got?!” —she said with a challenging smile as she prepared for the next attack.

Flow, facing his own opponent, used his fire sword to surround himself with a fiery aura. The flames kept the mutated bird at bay, but the creature was persistent. With a roar, Flow launched a horizontal slash, creating a fire arc that struck the bird’s wings, burning them partially and leaving it vulnerable on the ground.

Back at the main confrontation, Gunn roared in fury, striking the ground with his stinger and releasing a shockwave that knocked the three CENTURIONS back. Max quickly got back up, raising his sword and shouting:

—“We have to end this now! Otherwise, this thing will wipe out the entire city!”

Jack'O and Deff nodded, each preparing their most powerful attacks as they tried to coordinate for a final strike.

At that moment, Saico, having finally defeated the bird alongside Punk, looked up at Gunn. Despite the exhaustion, he knew he had to do something.

—“Punk, we have to help them.”

—“Are you crazy? That’s way out of our league!”

—“Maybe, but if we do nothing, there won’t be a city left to defend.”

Punk sighed but finally nodded. The two young Elementals joined the front, ready to face the greatest threat they had ever seen.

The battlefield was filled with tension, each movement echoing in the air like a war drum. The battle was far from over, and the Elementals knew that the fate of City Sven-1 depended on their endurance and teamwork.
