Journey (1) - 23

Setting out the next morning in a carriage, I stared glumly out the window.

Even though we had been traveling for more than 8 hours now, the blizzard still hadn't let up, and so, everything was still gray.

Turning my gaze back into the carriage whilst putting my arm on the window and then leaning my head on my hand, I just watched on absentmindedly as Char read a book next to me with her glasses on, and Gwen looked over the catalogue on the other side of the carriage.

Right now, she was probably sorting out all of our living arrangements, as I had insisted on bringing all 18 of the people that had been living in the castle: Me, Char, Gwen, Sari, Carmen, and the 13 children.

Closing my eyes, I leaned my head on Char's shoulder.

Feeling the weight of my head on her shoulder, she shifted her position a little and wrapped her arm around my shoulders, effectively placing part of my head in her armpit and the rest of my body against her side.

Feeling her warmth, I snuggled in more, and then we stayed in that position.

She started flipping the pages by flicking her fingers that were on the arm that was wrapped around me inhumanly fast, the breeze of air flipping the pages for her.

Seeing this, I smiled, absorbing the comforting atmosphere that she exuded, breathing in her familiar scent, before closing my eyes once again and drifting into my thoughts.

I started recapping the things I new about the institution that I was going to, both from the knowledge I learned from the novel, and from knowledge I got from Char and Gwen.

I was going to a school called the Pantheon.

Effectively, it was a school that gathered all the top talents from the country in the capitol and trained them to their fullest capacity.

Stolen novel; please report.

Of course, there were different classes and such, a lot like the academies in many other novels.

My sister, having been admitted as the youngest student ever, had breezed through the school, and was already on the Noble Court Arc.

At the Pantheon, she had probably met the First Prince and the third person in her love triangle, the most powerful descendent of the first wizard, who were both also admitted early, at the ages of 14, but were eclipsed by her achievements.

Of course, I couldn't care less about them as they were all in the royal court right now, but, there was always the possibility of what they were doing there affecting the Pantheon, even if it was an institution separated from the monarchy and run independently by its own board of directors, who were also all teachers at the school.

Well, enough about what my sister was doing, back to the school.

I was going to be admitted as the lowest rank in the Noble Class, which, unlike its name, was a class of the top talents in the school, not of students from noble ancestry.

Of course, due to politics, almost all high ranking nobles were able to get their children into the class even if they weren't talented, but, the school didn't tolerate students that abused power that wasn't theirs, so, most of the time, the other students just ignored these nobles.

But, knowing the story, the class that I was being admitted into was the Golden Generation, full of students aspiring to be as powerful and successful as my sister.

Honestly, it would be pretty annoying hearing my sister being praised the whole time I was in the school, but what could I do? She was the hero after all, it was only natural that people looked up to her.

Anyways, again, back to the topic (somehow it keeps diverting to my sister), I was accepted into the Noble Class, albeit, as rank 20, the weakest rank.

The Noble Class mostly taught advanced fighting skills and the art of using one's skill whilst simultaneously using their chosen weapon.

Of course, my "dad" had already informed them of my situation, so they didn't expect me to have any skills, but the bastard still put me in that class, wanting me to take a beating or something.

But, I was left wondering whether the other students could even touch one of the hairs on my head.

Then, my thought shifted over to the actual characters within the Noble Class, specifically, the ones that would be a part of the Hero's party.

Rank 1, Sister's future disciple.

Rank 4, Sister's future assassin.

Rank 7, Sister's future piggy bank.

Rank 13, Sister's future personal mail carrier and the second scout of the party.

Rank 15, Sister's pyromaniac machine builder.

Then, there were the ones that weren't in my sister's party, but were also pretty useful.

Rank 2 (Tied), The Second Prince

Rank 2 (Tied), The First Princess

Rank 5, The Black Witch.

These were the "important" people in my class.

And I would get all of them on my side.

Of course, all my assets would be my sister's too, so, she could use all of them, I would just make sure that they wouldn't be of trouble to me anytime in the future.

My plans were already forming as I schemed to get all of them emotionally attached to me.

But then, I was shaken out of my thoughts.

"There are a few bandits eyeing our "unprotected" caravan, do you want me to take care of them, Young Master?"

I looked outside and realized that there wasn't any snow anymore, instead, we were traversing a cliff face.

"Yeah, make sure the children don't even know about it."

"Understood, Young Master."

I smirked.
