WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO BE A HERO?

In a city that draws closer and closer to its last breath. In a ruined world ravaged by bandits, gangs, corrupt justice systems, and a failing government lie a single beacon of darkness. A beacon far darker than anything anyone in all of humanity’s history have seen before. A beacon so dark, it overshadows all of the city’s darkness. A beacon that represents a hero. But many individuals will call him a murderer.

What does it take to be a hero in a barely functional City ruled by the underground mobs?

It takes darkness to beat darkness. It takes a person much more evil and wicked than the rest.

A hero is supposed to be a brave person that is admired, looked up to, for their courage or achievement.

But does a hero have to be a good individual? What is a good individual?

To save a city from madness is to give oneself whole-heartedly to the madness inside of their heart. Sometimes to stop someone from hurting another person, you have to rely upon drastic measures that include taking the life of the person that is going to kill. Sometimes for every act of saving a life, a little piece of darkness sets in. Sometimes whether you want to or not, you have to become a necessary evil for the good of a city/country. Sometimes to save a life is to kill one.

Evil isn’t necessarily evil. Evil can be as pure-hearted as a father (petty thief) and mother (Prostitute) trying to make money for their family and kissing their daughter good night, or as cold as the nighttime wind, as murderers and other dangerous criminals drop dead in the corners of Lyndrod streets. But then, there is Evil. The definition of Evil is knowing better but doing worse. It is when you grew up in the comforts of your home, had a good life, but just due to boredom, or for the fun of it, do worse to others, just because you can. Evil is when you could have been good but chooses not to.

Madness has gotten its claws on what used to be a precious city, and rendered it cut off from any sources of light. A couple of decades earlier, this used to be a trading city, with its ports open, and was well-known for its numerous businesses, and markets. But since twenty years ago, all of that perished. We used to have markets and make profit throughout the city, but that all change twenty years ago. the markets kept losing profit. First it started with 9.4%, then kept on falling steadily, like it was all a manipulation. Each and every time it went down by precisely 9.4% until the market completely collapsed.

The criminal activities from that moment on increased, and a new type of drug started to spread. New gangs were created. Gang wars became a very common sight. Soon after, bank robberies became the norm. If that wasn’t worse, the mayor and governor refuses to ask any authorities for help. Media and other news stations were threatened. News companies moved out of the city since reporters could no longer work here since it was too insecure. The situation got worse and worse. Jobs wouldn’t hire workers since they became too afraid of hiring someone that might kill them later. The jobs that would hire people were closing their businesses.

The police have failed this city and its inhabitants. The more the police work hard to bring those criminals to justice, the more criminals would walk. The judges would not assign any severe penalty to the criminals, since they were afraid for their life and their children. The prosecutors don’t even show up anymore, if they haven’t left the city already. The judges are hiding their faces as much as they can. The police corps has become corrupted. No one can be trusted.

The government was clueless as to what they should do. All they did was bringing more police officers into the city to help the task force, which merely increased the corruption level in the city. As soon, as the new officers witness the amount of criminal activity that was happening in the city, they realized this was a life or death zone. To live, they became corrupted. They killed instead of protecting. they joined gangs and the war on the city waged on.

To control evil, a superior evil is necessary
