Chapter 3 - Monologues and gobling guts

[You have exited the safe-zone be aware: Monsters may attack you outside of the safe-zone] a blue window assaulted Dan's vision once he stepped out of the gates of the village with Sam. they shared a look and nodded. They had each others backs, neither of them would let anything terrible happen to the other. The cavern they were in was like a world of its own, the roof of the cave reached hundreds of meters skywards and the cavern wall was kilometers away from the village. The cavern was so big it should collapse in on itself instead of staying the way it is. The cavern was filled with giant mushroom forests, some kind of giant ant hill and other weird phenomena. The floor of the cave was covered im softly glowing cyan moss. Further away from the village gates the terrain got a bit harder to traverse, the ground wasn't level, but rather had a lot of bumps and small mounds leading to the closest Mushroom forest. Sam lead the way while Dan followed more carefully behind while observing the weird flora in the cave. After walking for a while without encountering any monsters Sam stopped and turned to Dan

"Something is off." Sam said

"We haven't encountered any monsters." Dan observed

They knew the trope: you walk too far into a monster infested forest without seeing any monsters until they have already surrounded you and it's too late. Without another word they turned around and ran back the way they came. Right after they began to run they heard gobling sounding voices speak in a foreign language and a few make-shift spears landed around them. Dan quickly piked up two of the spears while running and handed one of them to Sam. Sam nodded in appreciation and promptly threw away his practice sword. They ran for a good 10 minutes before the goblings gave up on the chase. by that time Dan was winded and ready to collapse on the mossy ground and take a nap, instead he ran for another minute or so before stopping to rest. Dan collapsed on to the mossy ground and wheezed for breath.

"Well, at least the weapon problem is solved" Sam chuckled

"Yeah, but I doubt I'm made for the whole fighting thing. I mean have you seen these noodles?" Dan smiled while flexing his not at all muscular arm.

"Don't worry, the way these systems work is that you will eventually become as strong as superman if you just keep at it. Tenacity is the name of the game in a system world." Sam encouraged "Besides, you just survived a fight with some goblings. If you can outrun them, im sure it won't be too difficult to kill one with that spear."

"But that is the problem of the hour isn't it: how to find a gobling that isn't part of a group."

"Ahh, but you forget one thing my dear younger brother." Sam smiled

"And what might that be oh wise and powerful hero?" Dan asked

"Goblings may not be the only kind of monster in this tutorial."

Dan stared dumbly at Sam. "Why didn't I think of that. It's so simple as well!"

"Either way, I should probably teach you how to use a spear" Sam concluded "Simply stick the pointy end into your opponent."

"That's it?"

"Yeah, there is a bit more to it, but unless you have time to train your leg muscles that's the gist of it." Sam said

"Huh. Well I guess it's time to find some easier pray."

"Not quite so, in all the stories iv'e read the main character gets super powerful because he faces the opponents who rival him in power or are a higher level than him." Sam said

"But this isn't a book Sam, if we do that we will most likely just die."

"But now that the system is here, why live at all if you don't intend to live to the fullest and do as you wish?" Sam said "If you don't put everything you can into everything you do in this new world, you will be left in the dust of those who do. Then you will be forced to follow their rules and demands. Is that what you want?" Sam monologued. To Dan's logical side this sounded like a villains monologue, but his personality, his soul his bloodline agreed with Sams sentiment. It was as if a deeper part of him was freed and he felt like his mind was completely clear. As if he had just awoken from a lifelong slumber where he had no direction other than a vague like for crafting. He was no longer Dan the talented art kid, he was Dan The Unbound Creator

Dan dismissed the messages and focused on Sam who was holding out a hand towards him. Dan grabbed Sam's hand and got off the ground, They both looked determined and nodded at each other. This day would be the day the Unbound Brothers would slay their first group of monsters.

Dan stabbed at the back of the last gobling scout skewering it from behind.

[Your group has slain 5 [Gobling scout]s. You have earned 10 TP. For defeating multiple opponents higher level than you, you have gained additional TP.]

[Current TP:20]

Dan smiled as he wiped the blood off his hands "Its quite fun. The challenge not the killing." Dan clarified

"Yeah, im surprised at how little the gore affects us, I would have thought that I would be traumatized by it but it feels surprisingly normal."

"For me, it must be because of my bloodline." Dan said

"Oh? you hove one too? I guess it makes sense, you did get to talk to the goddess after all."

"Yeah." Dan said distractedly while looking trough his messages.

"The Unbound Warrior, huh. Is that your bloodline?"

"Yes, I was in the middle of creating it when it completely changed on me, all the goddess said was 'It seems someone has chosen for you.' and left it at that." Sam sulked

"Is it that bad?" Dan asked sheepishly. after all it might be all his fault since the system did mention that it was a branch bloodline.

"No, I would have just liked to have a say. My bloodline turns my Profession into a Class and gives me a third slot for either a Profession or a Class."

"Mine does the opposite, I have 2 profession slots and a potential third one." Dan noted.

After fighting that group of goblings, neither of them had gotten hit. It seemed the goblings took tips from the stromtroopers on proper aim. Either way they weren't done. This would only be the beginning of their path toward the top of the multiverse. well, while they weren't done going on hunts they still had only two arms to carry lot with, so they headed back to the village to sell or distribute the spears they collected from the goblings. After a short trip to the village market they decided to tared the spears for TP and use that TP to buy some basic linen armor to help with the not getting gutted spree they were on. Leather armor was an option but it was way more expensive since the professions that made those were usually focused on making armors which leads buffs being applied on the gear from the makers skill level. After the brothers were done with their shopping spree they headed back to the mushroom forest and and began the task of slowly ambushing every gobling scout group they could while avoiding the larger group with higher leveled goblings. Most fights went like so: Sam would strike and kill the first gobling fast while making a lot of noise taking the others attention while Dan would come from the other direction and strike at their back while trying ot be as silent as possible.

After a few rounds of doing this Dan gained a few skills: [You have gained the skill: [Stealth]] [you have gained the skill: [sneak attack]] [you have gained the skill: [Spear proficiency]]

[Current TP: 64]

Dan and Sam had salin three groups of gobling scouts, one which consisted of 3 goblin scouts that one went down easily. The second group was a group of 5 gobling scouts which was a longer fought with a few close calls since Dan fumbled his approach making it a pincer attack instead. That meant his [sneak attack] skill didn't help during that fight. The last group was a wopping 7 gobling scouts, it was the hardest fight yet, they had to retreat multiple times even utilize the terrain to funnel the goblings into a small cavern on the side of a hill to have a better chance at surviving. In the end they both survived with minimal wound. Sam suffered pretty painful looking wound on his right bicep tho. They would have to head to town to get that cleaned ASAP or Sam might die of an infection. When Dan brought it up Sam refused to go to town and instead just said "In this new world we don't have any use of any of the old knowledge of the universe, if i increase my vitality im sure it will heal o nits own." "But we cant gain any Stat points without picking our classes."Dan reminded Sam "I know." Sam said and then his eyes became unfocused as if he was looking at a screen. "Well that's odd" he muttered
