Chapter 2 - Tutorials and Brothers

Chapter 2 - Tutorials and Brothers

When Dan came to he was standing in a medieval looking town square in what looked to be a giant cavern, the roof of which reached higher than some skyscrapers. Dan looked around at his surroundings. It seemed like a lot of people had been teleported here on mass, the town square was large and was filled with hundreds of people. Everybody seamed to be confused and a lot of shouting was happening. Dan had to figure out what was going on, so, if I organize all I know about what is going on maybe I can figure a way to get back home- Dan's thoughts were cut off by two blue screens appearing in front of him

[Welcome to the tutorial. Your universe is currently being connected to the multiverse and changes are being done to your home planet as well as the rest of your universe in order to increase the likely hood of powerful individuals appearing. In the meanwhile you are in a temporary poket-world within your universe where you may get acclimated to the fundamental changes with your universe.]

[Tutorial type: survival

Tutorial task: defend your spawn location from weekly monster attacks, Monsters will grow stronger over time and boss monsters may appear unless they are killed before they attack the spawn village.

Tutorial rules: You will gain Tutorial Points [TP] for monsters killed. Additional TP may be gained by assisting the survival of your spawn village in other ways such as: Building defenses or killing monsters before the next attack happens You will loose TP for killing defenders or sabotaging the defense of the village in any other way. Village vendors will trade TP for goods and services.]

Dan nodded to himself after reading the blue screens, it was just like those books his not mom mentioned. He didn't much fancy reading them but his brother was quite the litrpg fan. He silently cursed himself for not giving those books a try. Either way he did remember his brother talking at length about those stories. If Dan remembered correctly one had to think status to see some basic information about oneself. And just as Dan had thought of the word status a blue screen appeared

so Dan thought, my Strength, Endurance, Instinct and Perseption are 4-6 and my Intelligence is 21. While Dan had always known that not everyone was as talented as him at school, seeing it put into numbers really fed his ego. So, if being talented can make you have stats in the low 20s would a naturally gifted gymnast have 20 agility? Or a talented bodybuilder 20 strength? Or would that be Endurance? Focus! so, talent can get you to the 20s. My poor eyesight probably results in my 4 in Perseption. so the average would be around 12.5. that means my physical stats are very low compared to others then? But that didn't quite make sense, While Dan wasn't the most physically fit out of all the people he knew, he wasn't that far below average. It is possible that these stats are on a different standard to humans since we probably aren't in every universe. That meant that 20 might be the average Intelligence of humans and he wasn't as special as he had first thought. Either way Dan had to survive the tutorial before he would have time to theorize about the ins and outs of the system. First things first: I have to get a class or a profession that will help me survive this tutorial and let me still do what i love afterwards. That brought him to a question he had yet to receive a complete answer to: How do i get a Class/Profession? the not his mom had said everyone gets two. But she never specified where he could get them. Dan was brought to the present by a familiar voice calling his name

"Dan!" His brother's voice sounded

"Sam?"

Sam came from behind Dan and put an arm round his shoulders "I can't believe this is actually happening!" Sam mused

"Yeah, I guess i will defer to your wisdom on how these things go."

"No worries bro! I am an expert at these things"

"Which reminds me, how do i get a Class or Profession?"

"I don't know for sure, but in all the stories iv'e read you gain one at a certain level or from a townstone."

"So we just have to find a townstone of some kind?"

"Yeah, it could also be called anything from a Class-stone to a Town Spirithall."

"I would guess the first thing we should do is gather info, maybe the vendors will be able to point us in the right direction?"

And so they walked to the edge of the town center and found an elf looking humanoid at a small stall with lots of blade weapons at display.

"Hello! I understand you don't have any TP quite yet so you should try to earn some before you are able to buy anything!" The trader said.

Sam came forward "Actually we were wondering if there are any ways for us to gain our classes. Would there be a town spirit or perhaps a class stone where we may have access to some options?"

"Ahh, yes. Of course. You may advance to your next grade by simply thinking class or profession." the trader said

"All tho I would recommend you figure out what you would like to do for the rest of your life and perhaps try to gain some records relating to that before you choose any Classes or Professions." he Continued.

"Thank you for your assistance." Dan said and walk away with Sam.

"So, I should probably grind some skills for a specific weapon combo before choosing a class, maybe then i will get a better one?" Sam wondered.

"What do you mean by skill levels and how do you know all this?" Dan asked.

"Well, I got a private chat with a Goddess, and se explained a lot of stuff."

"Right, she didn't tell much to me, tho I guess I could have asked more questions."

"So, back to my point" Sam said "You can gain skill levels before choosing a Profession and Class, but you won't gain any abilities. Skills are like a passive buff to you understanding of something as well as you skill in doing that thing, so if you had the archery skill you would be better with a bow than someone without it. While abilities are like activatable things, so any DND spell would be an ability while animal handling would be a skill." Sam explained.

"Well, either way we will have to prepare for combat and earn some TP." Dan said

"Yeah" Sam agreed "So what's our plan?"

"I'm not sure, I guess we should acquire some weapons and then go monster hunting."

So, Dan checked what he had on him that he could use as a weapon and was disappointed: Noting.

"I have one of my practice swords with me, but i doubt it will be any good in actual combat." Sam said

"I guess we have a goal in mind: Acquire weapons"

And so Dan and Sam looked around the village for any weapons they could use and found nothing. Apparently you had to either buy or craft weapons. After looking over their options they decided to brave the outside in order to gather some makeshift weaponry and possibly gain some TP and records in the process.
