Chapter 95: God Said We Can Win (1/4)

The next morning at 5 o'clock, Rosen woke up.

It wasn't that he was particularly diligent, but rather that Charlotte had forced him to go to bed at 7 o'clock last night. Although he had woken up once in the middle, his total sleep time was still far beyond usual.

Even waking up at 5, he felt refreshed and invigorated, with the exhaustion from yesterday's fierce battle having vanished without a trace.

Upon waking, he looked towards the center of the cave, where the campfire was still burning, but visible flames could no longer be seen.

The others were also mostly awake, some eating rations, some boiling water, some checking equipment, everyone busy with tasks.

Rosen looked around and found he had nothing to do.

After sleeping on the cold ground, his whole body felt somewhat numb, so he went to the corner, took out his focus sword, and casually practiced according to the motions described in Noble's Universal Swordsmanship.

He didn't expect to gain any great skills, just wanted to strengthen his body.

After practicing a few sets, just as he was feeling warmed up all over, he heard Captain Hamill's voice beside him: "Rosen, are you waving a wooden stick around?"

Rosen stopped and turned to see Captain Hamill sitting on a nearby rock, gnawing on a barley cake, looking at him mockingly.

"Just messing around practicing," Rosen said.

"If you're practicing, you might as well practice properly. Come, I'll teach you."

This gesture gave Rosen pause.

'Hamill is a mid-level peak warrior, still young and cunning, with great prospects ahead. For him to take the initiative to get close to me, he must have ulterior motives.

What does he want?

I don't know for now, but I'll find out by observing more.'

On the other hand, Hamill tossed the remaining barley cake into his mouth, jumped off the rock and came over.

"Your stance is all wrong, you've learned the form but grasped none of the essence."

As he spoke, he helped Rosen correct his stance: "Remember, if you want to unleash maximum power, you must engage the largest muscles in your body.

He squeezed Rosen's thighs, slapped his buttocks and back. "Thighs, buttocks, back, feel how thick and substantial these muscles are."

"Yeah," Rosen nodded. Thigh muscles, gluteal muscles, back muscles, he understood.

"It's obvious that the larger the muscle, the greater the explosive power, and the more enduring the stamina. You must understand this, right?"

"Yeah," Rosen slowly swung his sword, carefully experiencing the motions of his muscles, fully agreeing.

"So the essence of all martial arts is to combine the power of these three major muscle groups, then guide the direction of force through the arms," Hamill said.

He took a step back, viciously twisted his body and slashed down with his hand, his arm cutting through the air with a sharp swish.

The sound condensed into substance, slamming into the ground and kicking up a cloud of dust.

Rosen sincerely exclaimed, "Amazing!"

This praise made Hamill a little shy, and he scratched his head with a silly grin on his face.

"This is nothing, just a warrior's crude skills, far inferior to the spells you used yesterday."

Those powerful spells Rosen had cast were still fresh in his mind.

Trying to put himself in the opponent's shoes, he suddenly felt a sense of despair.

Just think, being flung 50 meters high in an instant, you'd surely break both legs when you hit the ground....

What use was a warrior without legs? They'd be useless.

Seeing his expression, illumination flashed in Rosen's mind, and he understood Hamill's intention in actively getting close.

As an experienced warrior, he must have already sensed the enormous danger of this mission, but he couldn't disobey the temple's orders.

What to do then?

The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement.

He could only try his best to get on good terms with those he saw as stronger, hoping to get some care at critical moments.

And if he could accomplish this, then he would gain one, no, a squad of elite warriors he could entrust his back to.

Could he accomplish this?

'Take it step by step, do your best,' Rosen thought.

In an instant he understood this point, and knew what to do.

Facing Hamill's self-deprecation, he looked completely serious.

"No, Captain Hamill, it really was amazing. If we fought up close, I couldn't block you at all. So you see, we all have our strengths."

Hamill wanted his care, but similarly, Rosen also hoped to get the other's full protection.

Although Hamill would protect him anyway, there could be a difference of one life between 'full strength' and just 'fulfilling duty.'

And he, a factory owner in his past life, had the essential skill of getting along well with all sorts of people.

Sure enough, hearing his words, Hamill happily chuckled.

"Rosen mage, you speak so openly, it's refreshing to hear. Alright, I won't disturb your training, keep at it."

He turned and walked away, and Rosen continued, practicing slowly, experiencing the technique of exerting force bit by bit.

As he was practicing, a thought suddenly flashed in his mind: "Sunshine~~~ Sunshine~~~~"

He immediately halted his motions, and carefully recalled Eureka's appearance - golden hair, eyes like autumn waters, her whole being radiating a bright, sunny temperament.

He had thought this was just her personal temperament, but now realized it likely had much to do with her power.

Following this, another thought struck him: "Since the two ancient tribes struggled for so long, their patron deities' powers must have been quite evenly matched."

"Now the King of Endless Winter is heavily injured and just revived, without the Heart of Supremacy, there's no way Eureka as his old rival's daughter could be easily subdued by him!"

"So there's only one possibility - the King of Endless Winter has the home ground advantage!"

"No wonder she wanted to pass me a sunlight spell, it was to help create a home advantage for her!"

His mind instantly became much clearer, and the hint of gloom from having to face an ancient deity's soul vanished without a trace.

Just then, Charlotte's voice called out, "Rosen, stop training, come eat breakfast and discuss plans for next steps."

"Coming," Rosen put away his focus sword and strode over.

At the campfire, Charlotte handed him a whole roasted rabbit. Her gaze then swept over the warriors.

"Rosen's a kid, kids need to grow, so he gets a large portion. No objections, right?"

The Silver Moon Rangers naturally had no objections, and the other 5 exorcist warriors just shrugged, tacitly agreeing.

Rosen was terribly hungry, and couldn't be bothered with ancestral precepts about heavy breakfasts being unhealthy. He ate in large bites.

When he was halfway through the rabbit, Charlotte's voice came: "Rosen, what's your plan?"

Of course Rosen had a plan after thinking all night....

Licking the grease off his fingers, he said, "The mine owner said the main tunnels collapsed, with constant aftershocks preventing clearing the passages. So if the King of Endless Winter really is here, his true form must be deep inside the mine."

"That's what I thought too, but with the tunnels collapsed, how do we get in?"

Rosen went on, "As far as I know, every mine has maps of the tunnels, usually held by the chief supervisor."

"Now the mine is controlled by the beastified townspeople, yet they can still mine. This means there's a high probability of Frost Dwarf overseers nearby."

Charlotte's eyes lit up. "Go on."

"This overseer, not only has the tunnel maps, but certainly also knows the method to command the beastified townspeople."

"From what I know, due to heating needs, Frost Dwarfs of the Frozen Lands are extremely adept at digging tunnels. Although not every individual of a race has the same skills, for this overseer to be assigned here means he must have excavation talents."

"So, we just need to find this overseer, capture him, and not only will we avoid facing the beastified townspeople, we can also have the overseer clear the tunnels for us with the townspeople."

Charlotte burst out laughing, turning to an exorcist beside her, "Phillip, see, I said bringing the boy was the right call."

The one called Phillip reached into his pocket and took out a silver kray, handing it to Charlotte.

"You got it, boss."

"Hahaha~"

Charlotte happily tossed the coin up and down, saying, "Alright, let's take action immediately."

Rosen hurriedly reminded her, "Initially, the one who sold beast water in Moon Glow was a giant bear beast king. And the one controlling the mine can't be a regular Frost Dwarf, highly likely another beast king, so don't let your guard down."

"Indeed, we can't be careless, but isn't that why the beast king slayer is with us?"

Charlotte slapped Rosen on the shoulder, then reached into her shirt and pulled out a vial of medicine glowing blue.

"High-level Wisdom Potion, divine elixir blessed by Golden God, drinking it will drastically increase your total and intensity of mana, lasting a full half day."

"Take this, drink it when you need it."

Seeing this potion, Vice-Captain Phillip couldn't help but speak up.

"Boss, you begged the High Priestess for so long, just for this potion? The kid's just a spell apprentice, isn't this a waste?"

The top-grade Wisdom Potion was a special product of the temple, an extremely precious condensed spell, second only to the supreme 'Wisdom's Blessing of the Golden God.'

Because the effects were so powerful, mortals could only take it three times in their life.

After three times, they could not take it again, otherwise the powerful potion would greatly damage the drinker's body and soul, leaving irreparable after-effects.

But in any case, even across all of the Golden Realm, this was a priceless treasure.

Charlotte rolled her eyes at Phillip. "Silvermoon City has nothing but moon mages. What use against the King of Endless Winter's wood-extreme evil? None."

"I already checked. The older fire mages can't be mobilized. Among the younger generation, this boy's fire-extreme is the strongest."

"Enough, no more talk. Rosen, take this, remember to drink it at the crucial moment!"

She shoved the vial into Rosen's chest.

Rosen's mind stirred slightly, suddenly feeling Charlotte knew far more than what she had said last night.

She seemed to know very clearly what kind of opponent they would soon face.

He softly asked, "Miss Charlotte, can we really win?"

The Silver Moon Rangers present were all battle-hardened, highly sensitive to danger. Seeing the high-level Wisdom Potion, they also felt something amiss.

They silently watched Charlotte, seeking an answer.

The atmosphere in the cave instantly became highly oppressive.

Charlotte casually waved her hand with a laugh. "Relax, relax~ Before we set out, the High Priestess specifically asked for a prophecy. God said we can win. Now everyone's reassured, right?"

These words did comfort their hearts, of course, not including Rosen the hidden unbeliever.

After breakfast, the group quietly made their way down the mountain towards the mining site.
