Finding a weapon

Seven days ago Thalli, Pona, Telum, and Vol let the forest without giving Arbor any reason as to what their were doing. Sol on the other hand has appeared occasionally to converse with Arbor about various things in the outside world. Arbor got the idea that she had spent most of her life inside the forest and occasionally ventured out when necessary. Throughout the increased one on one time with Sol, Arbor came to realize that her personality is one of an intelligent, yet inexperienced child.

Most other minute conversations included arbor asking all the questions about what he can expect outside of the forest or Sol asking questions about Earth. One thing that Sol it's completely fascinated by is the folklore about all the different types of mythical animals, Gods from different religions, folk lore, and how most of those things made their way to earth.

Unfortunately, most of Arby's questions remained unanswered as Sol did not have much knowledge outside of alchemy and those in her immediate life. Even though she had reached the peak of cultivation she could not answer most of Arbors questions about cultivation as she is a Phoenix. She explained that the differences in human and beasts cultivation to him. While non-human entities need time to grow, humans need to gather essence into their bodies through various means, which he had already learnt from Thalli.

This past week Arbor did realize that there is more for him to learn about this new world that he lives in. For example, because someone is powerful does not mean that they are mature or intelligent. They could grow up secluded and pampered and not be experienced.

“You have been alternating weapons everyday. Unlike Telum, you aren’t naturally gifted at weapon combat. Thus, you need to find one that will suit your fighting style the best.” Sol reminded Arbor.

“Even though the sword is an overbearing weapon, I shouldn’t use it because it is not compatible with my personality or how I think I will be able to fight, right?” Arbor bounced a thought off of Sol that he has been pondering over recently.

“That is correct. Another thing to remember is what weapon feels the most comfortable to you in your hand. As your seniors we will take care of you. Vol will help you forge the type of weapon that you desire. Don’t forget to come by later to practice your pill forging technique.” Sol transformed into a phoenix and fluttered away. She rested on top of a tree and watched closely over Arbor, whom was not aware of her gaze.

With his chin resting in his right palm, Arbor scanned each weapon with his eyes while muttering, “Versatility, adaptability, comfortability," continuously. Arbor picked up a pair of dual axes and flipped them around for a little bit before tossing them back to the ground. Next, he juggled a handful of kunia before quickly throwing them into a nearby tree with the points all lodged in at the same locations.

"Hmm…" Arbor lost himself in thought for a second as he stared at the kunia in the tree. Without any expression, Arbor moved to the next weapon. Arbor moved swiftly through the different styles of swords; sabers, two handed, dual, long sword, etc, before deciding that any type of sword is not his forte.

Next in line is a traditional bow comprised of limbs made from a lightweight flexible metal and a bow string twined with the strongest fibers. Unlike the previous weapons were Arbor felt that the weapon was a foreign body, when he picked up the bow it seemed like an extension of his himself. Although he is experiencing this feeling, something about the bow felt dishonest at the same time. It is as if his body is telling him “Yes, but not like this.”

Arbor disregarded the slight discomfort from his body as he nocked and drew twelve arrows in a twenty second time period. Arbor bent the arrows around trees, missed little rodents running through the forest by the hair on their bodies, and richoshied arrows off of eachother.

The bow and quiver found themselves back where Arbor picked them up from. Next Arbor moved onto the pole type weapons ranging from halberds, guando, glaive, spear, and a few variations. Once again he had no luck in feeling a sort of a bonding that he did with the bow.

The last pole class weapon that Arbor picked up initiated a feeling of comfort, relaxation, and a sensation of being one with the weapon as he twirled it around his body. For a minute Arbor sound the staff around his body body, between his hands, and every which way he could muster before finally stopping with a left sweeping attack. As he straightened his posture, excitement crawled onto his face.

He had finally arrived at the level of harmonization he was looking for in a staff. Although Arbor has found comfort in the staff, this does not mean that Arbor has become one with this weapon. He has just stepped foot on a different path of cultivation.

At the same moment Arbor finished twirling the staff, Sol flew off towards Mo Haoshe. After Sol landed in a nest of sticks close to the top of the tree, a humanoid figure appeared before her.

"Master he seems to have chosen the staff as a weapon. In addition, it seems that he has a high degree of resonance with the bow also." Sol informed Haoshe.

"Thank you for letting me know. Don't forget that nothing in this forest escapes my senses." Haoshe calmly replied to Sol.

The two continued to chat about various topics regarding Arbor and how they should proceed with his cultivation for the next year until he has to experience the world on his own. The two came to the decision that Sol will take Arbor to train after he consolidates his foundation outside the forest.

Even though Arbor has gained an understanding of how important strength is in this new world, he hasn't had the chance to experience it first hand. Thus, this is the reason Haoshe and Sol want to give him a practical understanding of what his future will be like.

A couple of days filled with his daily routine passed by quickly. The only difference is that Arbor trained with the staff the rest of the day after finishing his chores. On this day Sol brought up the topic about Arbor going outside of the forest to train while they're eating dinner. With a full mouth of food and utensils in his hand are stopped is movements as they slowly looked up to soul with an ecstatic expression.

"You aren't fucking with me are you?" In a quiet questioning tone Arbor replied.

"What exactly will we be doing?" Unsure of what lies beyond the first, Arbor wanted to prepare himself as best he could before they departed.

"On the other side of the mountain there is a problem that helps Haoshe wants us to take care of." Sol informed him.
