Return

In my dream-esque state, I felt as though I were in some sort of trance. Opening my eyes, I found myself in a dark, damp space with nothing around me—except the [Island] we had been on. I could see it in the distance, a faint outline radiating an aura of raw power.

This power wasn’t just immense—it was beyond comprehension, something even I couldn’t fully handle. It made the [System] shiver, and I could feel it resonate within me. I knew something existed there, something so powerful it could erase my very existence. Yet, despite its overwhelming presence, it felt strangely dormant.

It wasn’t malevolent—far from it. There was a benevolence to it, a willingness to share its strength. I instinctively understood that these [Trials] were meant for me. They were designed for me to prove my worth, to claim what this entity was willing to bestow.

As I started to approach the [Island] again, still enveloped in this dream-like trance, my body gave way under the strain, and I collapsed once more.

"Ah, what happened?" I asked groggily, hands clutching my head as I regained consciousness.

"Master, you're awake!" Goblee exclaimed, a note of relief in his voice. I nodded slowly, still processing.

"You've been out for six days," Jon said, his words shocking me into full awareness.

"Six days?" I murmured.

"It seems the fatigue hit you all at once," Maya suggested.

"Hey, Hayate," Olivia interrupted after a brief pause, her voice tinged with concern, "Do you think we’ll be captured again when we get back?"

Her question stirred a deep thought within me. Looking at them closely, I realized they no longer looked like they had before. It occurred to me that I could change their identities.

"I have an idea," I said, the wheels turning in my mind. "Olivia, though you may be a {Demi-Human}, {Humans} will see you as one. Literally." I paused, meeting her gaze. "We just need to change your names."

They all seemed to agree. "From now on, you’re May, Lily, and Jonny," I said, pointing to Maya, Olivia, and Jon respectively.

I then checked their status screens.

I was taken aback by my own abilities. "Holy crap," I muttered. I fainted again, overwhelmed by the sheer scope of it all.

When I regained consciousness, I looked around, realizing we had already arrived at [Elfen City on Earth].

"Welcome back," Maria and Tyla greeted us warmly.

"It’s been a long time," I replied, bowing respectfully.

"Excuse me, who are these people?" Tyla asked, eyeing my team with suspicion.

"My team. Any problem?" I asked, my tone tinged with arrogance.

"Where are the 'Unholy' guys?" Tyla pressed, narrowing her eyes.

"You wanted them back?" I countered. "That wasn’t part of the deal."

"I’m just saying," Tyla began, "If you freed them, you’ll be charged... and executed."

I smirked. "Oh, I freed them," I said nonchalantly, before adding, "Of their lives."

The words left her speechless, and she gestured for the guards to arrest me. But I wasn’t finished. "You really don’t want to fight me," I warned, my gaze hardening.

With that, I turned and walked away, motioning to my team. "Our carriages?" I asked Maria.

"You’ll come with me," Maria replied, "Your team can go in the other carriage."

I agreed and ordered my team to follow my instructions without delay.
