Chapter - 37 - The Inventory!

{Training ground #21, Konohagakure}

{9:21 AM, 29th Jan 13 Yrs ANB}

{3rd Person POV}

...

"Are we really just supposed to deliver these scrolls to those 4 restaurants, again, this is the 2nd time we are doing this mission in the last 4 days?" Ren asked Hayate Sensei both of them were walking through Konoha's streets.

"Stop complaining, and pay attention to your surroundings I know we are inside Konoha but during a mission, your priority is the task that is assigned to you," Hayate replied in a serious voice.

Ren sighed and then focused on his surroundings, the Konoha streets were busy as always, currently, they were walking through the residential district and there were several children running around the streets playing with each other.

Ren watched the sea of blue boxes hovering over everyone's heads, it was annoying as always but Ren was a lot more used to this now than when he first walked through the streets after the incident.

'~sigh~ I need a better way to refer to that day as the 'incident'...'

There were many times that Ren had wondered why he got this power, whether it was a bloodline, and whether he should tell someone else about it.

'It's not like it matters much, although I should tell the higher-ups about the inventory. While my other powers might not be useful for the village, and knowing everyone's name and affiliation might seem weird and make me a lot more constraint to the village... but then again I may be confined to more delivery-related missions in the future because of revealing the Inventory'

It was something he had been struggling with a little, but revealing his inventory didn't seem as harmful as telling Hokage-sama that he knew everyone in the village and that he could sniff out spies better than the Inuzuka clan could sniff out blood. Plus he kind of needed to do this to actually use his bounty system.

'I should tell Hayate sensei first he should know how to go about something like this.'

The two of them delivered the storage scrolls and arrived back at training ground #21 for their afternoon training session.

"Alright, I can see that you have got the basics of Strong Fist down and although your progress in Illusion Fist is slower, I think if you learn the katas to the kenjutsu style that I used to create the taijutsu style you may be able to have a better grasp of Illusion Fist," Hayate spoke and then he unsealed two wooden katanas from his storage seal.

'Alright impressive reveal later, kenjutsu style now...'

Ren abandoned his plan to reveal the inventory to Hayate sensei, gaining strength took precedence over everything else. Ren took the katana from Hayate sensei and swung it a little bit. The weight of the training sword was a lot higher than he expected so he looked at the edge of the blade and there were several seals placed on the edge of the blade.

'That's a weight seal, likely imitating the weight of an actual sword.'

"Take out the sword that Kakashi gave to you," Hayate sensei spoke and Ren went through the whole routine of pulling the storage scroll out of his pouch.

"Now we need to make sure that your training sword and your actual sword weigh the same so you nee-..." Ren already found the two controls for the weight seals, by putting chakra into one part of the trigger seal he was able to manipulate the weight and the training sword started getting heavier in his hand, "right never mind, adjust the weight and then come back to me," Hayate muttered and watched as Ren adjusted the weight till he was comfortable.

The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.

"Lemme see," Hayate swung both swords for a test and then nodded, "alright store it back and we can begin."

...

"Raise your sword higher, yes now hold it there, your legs need to be wider and your stance forward." Hayate adjusted Ren's stance after a few minutes of micromanaging. Ren was standing with his feet spread just enough to align with his shoulders. He was standing a little crouched, just enough that his muscles were tense even in this neutral stance, and his body weight was leaning forward with the training sword held in front of him in a diagonal guard position.

"Good that's good, now hold this stance for 5 minutes" Hayate spoke as he looked at every aspect of Ren's form. Both of them continued to look at each other in silence and after five minutes Hayate nodded and Ren dropped the stance. It wasn't exhausting on his muscles but it took a lot of concentration to make sure that his form was perfect.

"That is the standard guard posture of the Dance of the Crescent Moon, remember after executing an attack you always have to come back to this stance until I tell you you have mastered the kenjutsu style," Hayate spoke and Ren nodded.

"Now show me the stance once again," Hayate ordered once again and Ren immediately followed, he controlled his body and once again went back on guard.

"Good now turn your resistance seals to level 6," Hayate instructed and the training started in earnest once again. For the next hour, Ren continued to learn all of the different stances of the Dance of the Crescent Moon. He had to hold every stance for five minutes under the resistance of the level 6 seal.

----------------------------------------

...

Ren panted a little as he finally released the seal, he didn't gain any new skill but it was still okay as according to Hayate sensei he still had 7 more stances to learn.

"Good job today," Hayate Sensei complimented Ren after the training session, "In the evening I'll show you the rest of the stances, remember you need to engrave these stances in your muscle memory and remember the flow between any two stances should always be smooth, the speed can vary and that is the essence of the Dance of the Crescent Moon but first you need to hammer the stances in your head."

"Understood Hayate Sensei," Ren bowed once again, and as he saw Hayate Sensei was about to flicker away he shouted, "Hayate Sensei wait a minute!"

"What?" Hayate paused as he looked back with a raised eyebrow, Ren normally is very eager for his afternoon break to go to the library and continue to work on his fuinjutsu. But he looked unusually serious at this moment.

"Uhh..." Ren stalled when it was finally time to explain, the problem was how should he even start.

"What is something wrong?" Hayate asked concerned, from what he knew Ren was the straightforward type, to think he would have problems expressing himself didn't seem like a possibility unless it was something emotional.

"Uhh, yeah..." Ren looked around but then again he had no way to sense if someone was eavesdropping on them.

'I need to somehow include sensory training into my routine...'

Putting aside the holes in his defense Ren trusted Hayate sensei to know if someone was spying on the two of them.

"It will be easier if I show you," Ren pulled out a kunai from his weapons pouch and showed it to Hayate sensei, he pulled his sleeves back to show him there was nothing there and then dropped the Kunai into his inventory.

Hayate blinked, he looked at Ren's empty hand for a moment as he rewinded what he saw just now in his mind. "How," the question just left his mouth when Ren extended his hand like he was grabbing something and the kunai reappeared in his hand. This time Hayate was completely focused on Ren's hand so he could clearly see the kunai appear out of nowhere.

"What's that, how are you doing that." Hayate was confused but he still put on a serious expression, their world was filled with weird bloodlines so although he was confused he didn't dismiss that possibility, although he did disrupt his chakra network to check if he was under a genjutsu.

"I don't know exactly how, but there is a space in my mind that I can access and store almost any nonliving thing."

...

"Hold on, what do you mean you can store almost anything, what did you try, how big is this space, when did you first find out about it?" Hayate asked a lot of questions that came to his mind but then he paused and looked around, he looked at Ren and then spoke, "Come with me."

The two of them dashed out of the training ground and looking in the direction they were going Ren was pretty sure it was time to meet with the Hokage.

'I might need to lie a little bit, maybe half-truths would be better. I can bait my healing as a secret and make them think whatever I'm hiding should be related to that...'

...

Ren looked at Hayate sensei running and his thoughts went to the problem he had encountered with the bounty system.

'If I take out an enemy in secret then it doesn't matter I can get the rewards and the bounty system takes care of the corpse. The problem arises when I take out a decently powered shinobi during a mission, luckily for me, I would gain more trust from the village if I reveal my inventory and at the same time I'll have a massive space to store bodies... after that a couple more lies should suffice.'
