Finding Kyle

As I was continuing down, I saw more and more of the soldiers that I had sent into battle. They were horribly mutated and deformed. One that I walked by was still recognizable; her name was Kindle. She had asked me to put her in as few battles as possible because she wanted to be able to go home to see her children, but here she was deformed and seemed to be heartbroken. She looked up and saw me. She rushed to the door and I got a look at her right arm, it had been turned into a massive claw, but it still was made of human flesh, bones, and muscle. She started slamming on the massive glass door she was protected by. The side of her face looked like it had been semi-melted off. It was horrible she was screaming and glaring at me.

As I started to walk away from her all I heard was “You did this to me!” That hurt because I had used all my power to make sure that the last battle she was going into was the same one she went MIA in. The cell right next to hers had a hole in the glass. And as I was continuing to see all these failed experiments, I finally realized that this was the same thing that I went through, but this was a whole lot less humane. I realized that the farther down I went the more and more deformed and disfigured the experiments were. When I got to the bottom they were nothing but blobs of living human flesh. I looked around expecting to see a splat that used to be a lady, but all I saw was two spots where the concrete had been shattered. That concerned me.

I started looking for any hint of where Kyle and Phoenix were. I went and tried to find the security office. I ended up just wandering down a dark hallway.

“You have fallen into my trap, heheheHAHAHA!” A deep voice laughed.

“What trap? There’s nothing here.” I said.

This story has been stolen from Royal Road. If you read it on Amazon, please report it

“Exactly.” It replied

I started running down the hallway as fast as I could. I reached a wall with no door anywhere. I whipped around to see another wall.

“You are a fool to think you can defy me.” It boomed.

“Screw you.” I stated.

The darkness around me started to surround and envelop me. I try to kick it off of me, but it would just instantly grab me again. I tried thinking of anything I could do, but there wasn’t anything. Then I remembered the match that I had picked up. I started kicking and thrashing to get the darkness off me. I was absorbing chemicals to create chlorine trifluoride. When I did I started releasing it.

“What is this? Are you trying to kill the dark by choking it?” It laughed.

“No,” I said, “by lighting it up.

I struck the match on the wall and lit it, and the gas lit and fire was all around. It quickly burned out though. Soon I looked around and I was back where I started. The darkness was gone and the one behind it was laying, burnt, on the ground dead. I hadn’t meant to kill them, but it is what it is. I went to the lobby of this building to try and find a map. I found one behind the receptionist’s desk. This place seemed to be abandoned aside from the experiments and those soldiers that tried to kill me. I looked at the map and went on to find the security room. When I find it I see nothing but monitors and cameras. One of these monitors showed an interrogation room. Where Kyle and Phoenix were being interrogated by a soldier.

I start making my way towards the room. There isn’t much resistance since pretty much no one is here. When I get to the room I see a police baton sitting outside the door. I presume it was a way to torture the victims. I grab it, grab the keys to the door, and throw open the door. I hit the soldier in the head one solid time to knock him out. I free Kyle and Phoenix and we book it out of there.
