Peter walked home from his new job, where he had recently started as a young software engineer. The most wonderful part was not having homework, since when he headed home he really didn't have to focus on the next homework assignment or an upcoming project. He really and truly was able to disconnect and start to think about enjoying hobbies again.
Walking up to the apartment building he inserted the key and turned but as the lock clicked he felt a jolt that ran from his fingers down to his shoes. "Youch!!", he jumped back and stared at his fingers that continued to tingle as he turned his hands over. Then his fingers started slowly turning gray with an odd streakiness to them.

As he continued to stare and flex his fingers the gray darkened to black while the streaks lightened to a crystalline white as he fingers grew stiff and then his vision grew dim.
Panicing he tried to yell or run but his body seemed to refused to move at all as he was left to only stare at the words that had appeared in front of the black darkness that was all that was left of his vision.
