"Can you explain to me what's going on?". Bella said, intruding between the two.

The three of them looked at each other.

"I need to take care of the bones!". Ethan said, looking around the alley near them for a trash bag.

"I think you better take Bella out to dinner. She must be hungry!". Edward said to Alice, with a dull smile.

"What? I'm not hungry! Tell me what's going on!". Bella said irritated.

Alice nodded her head to Edward.

"Come on Bella. I'll explain everything to you when we get to the restaurant!". Alice said, holding Bella's hand.

Ethan looked around confused, watching Alice and Bella leave, while Edward continued to stand still, watching Ethan look for some trash bags.

"Aren't you going to help me?" Ethan said.

"No!" Edward replied, with his arms crossed.

Ethan found some trash dumped in the corner of a can. He opened the bag and threw all the trash into the can, taking the bag away.

"I don't think I've ever seen a human skeleton like that in front of me!". Edward said, circling the man's bones.

Ethan shrugged and began putting the bones into the bag.

"You seem to be experienced at this already, don't you? You must have killed a lot of people already!". Edward said, bending down next to Ethan to tease him.

"So, what's your deal, huh?" Ethan said, getting up angrily. "You've been nagging me since I got to town. Now you want to play nice with Bella? I know your biggest concern is that Bella thinks you're a monster! Ethan replied, with no patience for Edward's games.

Edward stood up, facing Ethan. He looked like he still wanted to fight.

"I have better things to do, Edward. If you're going to kill me, you better make sure you're not leaving any traces of my body!" Ethan said, stepping aside to continue collecting the bones.

"I don't kill just anyone who makes me angry, Ethan!". Edward replied, seriously.

"Sure, you're weak! You'd probably let a man sleep cuddled with your wife, even in front of you!". Ethan said, remembering Jacob.

"What are you talking about?". Edward asked, confused.

Ethan just ignored him, still putting the bones in the garbage bag.

"Anyway, I just want to understand what you want! Is it territory? World domination? What's your idea?" Edward asked, leaning on the wall, but Ethan still didn't answer him.

Deep down, even Ethan didn't really know what he wanted. He was still discovering his abilities and his world. He wasn't thinking about mastering anything yet.

"Okay, you're not going to answer me! Let's try something else then! What are you? You already know I'm a vampire. Nothing fairer than for me to know what you are!". Edward said.

"And what advantage do I have in telling you what I am?". Ethan replied, finishing collecting the last bone.

"None! Just do it for friendship!". Edward replied, with a fake smile.

- For friendship, Edward? Do you think I'm in some Disney movie? - Ethan thought. - Although... It would be nice to have Edward as an ally. He is one of the strongest vampires in his family. To conquer him, would be to acquire an entire army. -

"Right! I'll tell you, if you join me!" Ethan said, approaching Edward.

"Join you?" Edward replied, confused.

"Yes! I'll help you and your family protect yourselves, but you do the same for me!". Ethan added.

"I'm not going to risk my family for the shit you do, Ethan!". Edward replied, shaking his head.

"You think I'm going to go around exterminating humanity?". Ethan replied, laughing. "I never killed anyone, Edward! That guy deserved to die! You wanted to do that too!". He added.

"But I didn't! I'm not going to let my emotions fuck up my life!". Edward replied.

"Think with me... If you had a way to kill with every motherfucker that came along without being discovered. Would you?". Ethan asked, smiling gently at Edward.

"I won't be a monster, Ethan!". Edward said.

"In my opinion, just seeing what these guys do without even moving a muscle is far worse than what I do to them...!". Ethan said.

Edward stood still for a few seconds, watching Ethan tie the bag of bones and put it on his back.

"I need to get rid of this, will you come with me?". Ethan asked, walking out of town.

Edward grumbled and backed away from the wall.

"My car is next door. Let's go with it!". Edward said, grabbing the keys from his pocket.

Ethan followed Edward with his gaze, giving him a mischievous corner smile.

They got into the car and drove off without a certain destination.

"How do you plan on getting rid of the bones?". Edward asked.

"I'm thinking of throwing the bones in the middle of the sea. It will be hard for them to find, even more so because the description they can give to the police will be idiotic. A guy rotted him with just the power of his mind? That's silly! They'll think they used some kind of drug!". Ethan replied.

"I didn't think of that! Would you throw a body in the middle of the river? If you needed to get rid of it...". Edward asked, curious.

"No! Dead bodies float after a few days, due to the gases the body releases.". Ethan replied, without getting too deep into the subject.

"Are you sure you've never killed anyone?". Edward asked, staring at Ethan.

Ethan paused for a few seconds, trying to remember if he had killed anyone in his past life, but all he could remember was listening to too many podcasts about murder.

"Have you ever tried to do that?" Ethan asked, staring back.

"No!" Edward replied, clumsily, looking away quickly.

They were silent for a few seconds.

"Actually, I have!" Edward replied, looking away.

Ethan chuckled at Edward, confused as to why he had admitted that.

"If we're going to become allies, let's not hide things from each other!". He replied, embarrassed.

"And how was it?". Ethan asked, curious.

"It was many years ago. I was still drinking human blood and was starving. It was then that I saw a woman walking at night, in a fair. She was very well dressed, and looked like royalty. Then she was walking by a homeless man. Ethan, he was starving. You could see the sadness in his eyes. So he reached out his hand to her, asking for something. Do you know what she did? Edward asked, looking at Ethan.

"What?" Ethan asked.

"Nothing!". Edward replied.

"Edward, did you kill her because she did nothing?". Ethan asked.

"When you talk like that, it sounds wrong! But she was filthy rich, man. It wouldn't kill to give a piece of bread!". Edward replied, trying to justify himself.

"Literally wasn't going to kill. She didn't give the piece of bread and die!". Ethan replied, incredulous, but he could still find the situation funny.

"Anyway, I waited for her to leave. She was carrying a bag with some handmade sweets from back in the day. So I killed her when she got away from everyone and tried to get rid of the body by throwing it on a nearby side, but of course, after a while, the body went up." Edward said.

"Holy shit!" Ethan replied.

"And spoiler: she was royalty! So it was a scandal. It was everywhere about her murder. I preferred to just leave town, change my name, anyway... That was of no concern to me!". Edward said.

"What about the candy?" Ethan asked.

"Oh, I gave it to the homeless man after I killed her!". Edward said.

"You know that might have incriminated him, right?". Ethan replied, with his hand over his mouth.

"No, I don't think so! They didn't have that much evidence!". Edward said, shrugging.

"And did you need evidence back then?". Ethan asked, laughing internally, raising his eyebrows at Edward.

Edward was silent for a few seconds, as if he realized what he had done.

"A minute of silence for the beggar!". Ethan said, raising his index finger.

The two were quiet, but after 1 minute, Ethan gave a hearty laugh and said:

"It's okay, bro! Next time, you hide your body right!".

Which caused Edward to wipe the serious expression off his face and give a hearty laugh.
