“I will,” you say.
"Good," replied Hennie.
"When are you going? Janet and I will go there together, but then we'll wait outside."
"We'll say goodbye to you first," he teased Janet.
You go to get a flashlight from home, and then the three of you choose a course to the Burgerhoff. You are a little scary. However, it's a beautiful day, and you keep your cool.
But the closer you get to the house, the spookier it looks. A dark cloud moved in before the sun. Branches chop-chop in the wind against the house's windows. You wish you hadn't stretched your mouth so wide! But it's too late to pull out now. The other two will laugh at you. While Hennie and Janet watch you from a safe distance, you walk around the house and turn all the doorknobs. All the doors are locked, except one at the back of the house. You wave to your cousin, open the door, and walk through the small entrance hall into the large kitchen. There are two sinks, rows of cupboards, and a huge black stove. The floor is covered with dark red tiles, many of which are chipped or loose. The windows are closed from the inside with roller blinds, and you pull one up to let in more light.
The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.
On your right is a staircase leading from the kitchen to the next floor, and on your left is a swinging door. Could it be the door to the dining room?
