The butler’s steady stride towards Kai and Roman down the long, burgundy carpeted hall was overflowing with killing intent. Kai watches as he slips on brass knuckles as his stride turns into a sprint, yet he doesn’t get the icy feeling in his spine. Roman approaches the butler ever so calmly, juggling the dagger in his right hand. The butler’s attempt at a killing blow turns futile as Roman dodges and cuts his throat in one motion. He continues to walk towards the door, wiping the scarlet covered stain from his blade and his jacket. Kai’s legs are cemented into the carpets as an old wrinkly zombified man limps forward, holding his throat as a ruby river flows through, stretching his hand out as he struggles to breathe.
“Kai. Let's go!”, Roman’s voice shakes the vases and paintings on the wall. Kai inches to the side of the butler as his breathing goes out of control. Yes, he’s sliced up Angel’s before, but they’d always regenerate. This felt real, an actual death, a real dead body he had to help. He did nothing wrong. Kai slings his hand over his shoulder.
“Roman, help me out. He’s bleeding out Roman!”, they could see a bright grin on the Butler’s face. Whatever he was scheming was not given the chance to come to fruition as the rose dagger pierces his skull from across the way.
“I get you want to be a hero or whatever. But this guy is bad luck. So listen to me when I talk to you. Now let’s go.”, Roman holds Kai by the collar with his face covered with blood. It’s as if he’s done this before.
“How do you know he’s bad luck? You stole his weapon he’d come after us!”
“This isn’t any ordinary weapon angel boy. This is a scale. Formed from the energy of God himself. How do you not know this?”

“How do YOU know this?”, before Roman could explain he was teleported outside. The front-most area of the building explodes with rose gold light, debris brushing past the two. The butler emerges from the smoke wielding the glowing dagger that was once embedded in his skull.
“Dammit, I was right”, Roman reaches into his coat, pulling out a silver desert eagle and laying down fire on the butler. Kai places his hand on Roman’s shoulder to get ready for a jump, just in case.
“He’s an angel, right? That’s why he didn’t die just now?”, Kai asks as Roman lays down fire on the Butler.
“Yeah, but that dagger should’ve killed him. Scales are the only thing that can kill angels”
“Muina didn’t tell me that…”
The butler engages. Kai teleports themselves behind the butler. Roman pulls out a sawed-off shotgun, blowing the head off of the butler.
“Let’s go. This is a makeshift Scale so it won’t keep him down for long”
“How do you know about all this stuff?”, Kai had suspected Roman ever since the night they met. He smiled, but this time it was more nervous than anything. Roman takes a deep breath.
“I Kill angels for a living, I’m a hunter”, Kai’s expression would make anyone feel uneasy. His pupils are larger than normal and he gives off an odd, distorted vibe.
“Why”
“They’re planning to start a new world, right? We can’t just sit around and watch them kill us off again”
“Why not Kill me then?”, Roman sweats bullets, the most he’s ever sweated in his life.
“You kidding me? You’re Saraqael. The 4th strongest archangel. You’d destroy me.”
Kai’s body crumbles, the light fades from his eyes as his legs give out, falling on the rubble below him. Roman’s voice fades out as the sounds of the bullets drown out his screams. Kai is met with flashing images of a shirtless man with long green hair enjoying a royal feast in a temple of gold. He hears trumpets and harps as winged men and women fly above. The man flies, holding and embracing a woman with silver hair. The scenery quickly diverges into a burnt landscape with several bodies. Kai awakens in a sweat as he’s being carried away on the Back of Roman. Accompanied by Llida, determined to get rid of his largest betrayal.
