Aftermath

Later that night at a local expensive hotel, a temporary office room was set up complete with a desk with a pile of papers, a swivel chair, a cup of coffee and Hei Hainan going through the papers on said chair while drinking said coffee.

FengHuang on the other hand lied relaxingly on a sofa to the side opposite the windows overlooking a lakeside view. Not willing to stay in a cheap environment and not willing to stay in the royal palace while also having too much money, FengHuang opted to rent an entire lakeside hotel instead. Of course she was met with resistance from the entire government and royal family but knowing his fellow apprentice sister wouldn’t listen Hei Hainan convinced them otherwise.

After the exam Hei Hainan and FengHuang had returned to the hotel while also recording down everything that happened today and create a file for every new disciple. Thirteen cultivators in total have passed the royal capital’s examination and Hei Hainan have to make a detailed report on all their personality traits, talent and combat prowess since FengHuang was too lazy to.

“So, what do you think of our new disciples?” FengHuang asked after a while. “What, in terms of talent? Power? Attitude? Course if its talent then they’re all excellent even by Immortal Realm standards” truth be told FengHuang really knew what she was doing, it could be said that picking disciples are one of her specialties. “Yes, they’re all quite good but nothing compared to the ones we get during our glory days, remember how awesome brother gold was that year?” FengHuang couldn’t help but smile at the memory.

Hei Hainan took another sip of his coffee “yes, brother gold was truely strong, being a descendent from the monkey king himself does offer a very high talent not to mention power.” He too another look at the papers “this Da Chang seems to have been a descendent of a lightning based Demonic Beast, I’m going to guess its the Victorious Thunder Bull, here’re the papers.” Hei Hainan levitated Da Chang’s file to FengHuang who held out her right arm to receive the files and began reading them.

“Based on his achievements so far, its more likely his ancestor was the Black Thunder Ape. His physical strength is too great to be the Victorious Thunder Bull. His natural lightning affinity doesn’t seem to have awakened” FengHuang read more on Da Chang’s file ‘confidence necessary for a cultivator built on years of encouragement by his mother who passed away a few years ago. He was a rogue cultivator with no previous affiliations and good character but not driven by justice to the point of a zealot. Brother Hei was quite thorough with his soul searches, it may be a major breach in privacy but it is necessary for security reasons.’ Feng Huang levitated the the papers back to Hei Hainan “Da Chang, what do you think him?”

Hei Hainan was reviewing the file again “definitely brave enough, not afraid to sully his hands, good natured but ruthless when need be. It seams his journey of self tempering have yielded fruit, a good seedling for sure”. Hei Hainan then took out another paper this one on Shi Xuegang, he reviewed it before passing it over to FengHuang. “Shi Xuegang will probably be accepted by junior brother Ezzel as a disciple upon return, I have already notified him”. “Well I guess Shi Xuegang will be guaranteed to become powerhouse” FengHuang sat up and thoroughly read the file “a natural swordsman like him aren’t very common. I just hope his siblings won’t bring him into the race for the crown.” FengHuang passed the papers back to Hei Hainan.

The blacked robed man stored Shi Xuegang’s file away before looking at a few others he laid out “I doubt Shi Xuegang would do that, he certainly isn’t the type to be a leader. He’s more of loner with great interest in the sword, even cultivation is a side focus for him.” He levitated five files infant of FengHuang “Anyway, take a look at these. They’re from fairly important families and all are fairly good”.

FengHuang read their bios for a bit “Yeah they’re good but they haven’t truely experienced real world dangers have they”. Hei Hainan returned the files “well, we’ll just have to rectify that with the third and final phase of the entrance exams.” He then skimmed over to Li Huo and Zi Cheng’s files “Two other resident big shots, one with supreme talent and the other a scion of a duke”. “Birth status doesn’t matter, as long as they’re dedicated to cultivation and loyal to the sect they are worthy of being disciples” FengHuang casually answered, in truth she had never really cared for birth status anyway. While high birth status can give you a good start, money and homeschooling can only get you so fay, experienced was what really mattered “Zi Cheng proved his dedication despite lacklustre talent and Li Huo proved himself able to take full advantage of his talent to advance. Those two have a good future ahead of them”. FengHuang truely didn’t want any of the new disciples to perish too quickly especially if they make enemies of Wan Kun, she was especially worried over Zi Cheng because of he and Wan Kun’s earlier antagonistic interactions ‘In traditional Xianxia, Wan Kun will definitely a protagonist archetype. If I’m not careful he could ruin our sect or make it invincible. However, we are also by no means an ordinary sect’.

“And then there’s this Wan Kun fellow, born in a minor Silver Falls Kingdom in a small city’s resident overlord to murdered parents. Left as an orphan he was bullied and taunted but one person showed kindness to him, specifically the daughter of a former family friend Lin Xue’er” Hei Hainan read Wan Kun’s file as if it was copy and paste crappy xianxia novel “In coming years this Lin Xue’er will be kidnapped prompting Wan Kun’s family to bully him even more until he had a fortunes encounter and somehow quickly rosed to power becoming a peak expert in Silver Fall Kingdom.” FengHuang after hearing this couldn’t help but remember many similar stories she’d read in her previous life.

Hei Hainan continued on “Wan Kun then disappeared for 2 years for training. Following a war between Silver Fall Kingdom and several other kingdoms as well as a tier 3 super power, Wan Kun returns as a Core Formation expert and slew several Heavenly Sages. A giant Lava Demon then attacks his home to which he then becomes a Nascent Soul and killed said demon after heavily damaging it with the Buddha Palm”. FengHuang nodded “Makes sense, many heaven defying physiques like that exist abundantly in the Upper Realms. What made him come join our Sacred Beast Sect?”

Hei Hainan had a surprised look “Oops, forgot about that part”, Hei Hainan closed his eyes tapping into the time stream and gazed into the past ‘I see, I see’. Hei Hainan opened his eyes “well thats a coincidence”. “What coincidence?” FengHuang asked him. “See for yourself” following Hei Hainan’s instructions, FengHuang also peaked into the time stream and looked into the past. ‘Lets see here, it looks like he found his long lost love interest Lin Xue’er whose’s now residing in our Sacred Beast Sect’ FengHuang frowned at this revelation ‘ok how did she get here halfway across the continent in less then three years on her own.’ After looking into Wan Kun she switched targets and looked into Lin Xue’er and frowned at what she saw ‘Kidnapped by one of our core disciples to be a slave but was then discovered to have supreme talent and is currently a core disciples also’, she looked at Hei Hainan “why wasn’t I informed”.

Hei Hainan packed away Wan Kun’s file while answering her “there was a report made about a new rising talent, thats would be that Lin Xue’er fellow, but you were deep in secluded cultivation at the time. Plus we already executed he kidnapper, non of our disciples should ever do something that despicable”. “Good, I guess we discussed the big ones already, anything else?” FengHuang relaxed now knowing one key issue is solved. “Yes, we still got a few more here to discuss” Hei Hainan took out several other papers “there are a few more interesting ones so where would you like to begin Sect Mistress?” FengHuang strode to his side looking at the files “how about here”. The two began discussing the rest of the participants before sending their information back to headquarters.
