Chapter 26: Blood Sovereign

Chapter 26: Blood Sovereign

Amar Sin awoke to a room he had never seen before. He slowly sat up, but realized he wasn’t in pain after that fight. In fact, he felt better than ever before! He began to look around the room for clues about his whereabouts and situation. That was when a knock came from the door.

“Hello, are you awake yet?”

In walked a little Demon maid dressed in frills and carrying a plate of meat and a glass of a red substance.

“We know you’re an Edimmu, so we brought the freshest of blood and the best tasting raw meat we could find. Don’t worry, dig in!”

The little Demon began to skip a little out of the room.

Funny, most people were afraid of him. And they knew what he liked? But he detested the taste of blood and raw meat, and only ate to appease his hunger.

Then he remembered. The horrible things he did that night in the valley. He had attacked the very person he was supposed to keep safe! He was about to throw the tray aside, but the smell instantly stopped him in his tracks.

He had never smelled such a scent before. He had started drooling before he noticed. He took a little sip of the drink, and was surprised at how smooth it went down, at how the taste seemed to only be enhanced by iron, and at the power coursing through him.

“Hehe, I did my research. I also asked around. Edimmu are and were an ancient feral race of flesh eaters related to Vampires. You gain strength with all the blood and flesh and organs you consume.”

Amar Sin was surprised by the sudden voice as he looked up to see a young human child with fiery red hair and an intelligent glint in his eyes. His entire left leg was wrapped in bandages and his body had scratches and scars all over.

“You...you are the Melakios boy.”

“Indeed.”

“What have I done?! I ate you?! Lilith is going to hate me!”

“Calm down. You didn’t eat me, you ate all the dead bad guys’ bodies. It was enough to make you fall asleep after all.”

Amar Sin relaxed back into bed as he decided to try the meat. It wasn’t tough or gamey as he had thought. It was tender in his mouth as he could taste the blood in this as well. Color began to fill his face as his grin turned into a smile.

“I do have a couple questions for you, though.”

The Mesopotamian King stopped eating as he stared at Melakios in a puzzled way.

“First, do you have to bring me back?”

“No, but I thought Lilith would be happy.”

“Don’t worry, I will give a gift you can give to her as an apology. My second question, do you remember your human life?”

“It was so far long ago that I hardly remember a thing. The only thing I do remember is I used to be someone of extreme importance.”

“Great. As for my final question, what do you know of the power within you?”

“Hmm? I don’t follow.”

“There is a source of power within the core of your soul. It thirsts for blood and grows stronger the more you feed it. If I had to say that last night, before you had your feast, you were three times my power. But now, you are closer to six times. Of course, since then, I have consumed more souls, increasing my power. I would say I am at four times my original size.”

This was the first time Amar Sin had heard of this. Was there something dangerous within him? No, Lilith said there was nothing to worry about.

“I’m sorry, but I don’t know.”

“Well, if you find that your power is stronger than before, just know that you must consume blood and flesh to get even stronger. That is all. Here, the gift for Lilith. The twins’ uniform had a lovely rose, so I decided on a similarly designed item.”

In Melakios’ hands was a long whip that was the color of the trees as the handle was the color of blood. He grasped the handle and gave it a flick. The whip began to enlarge as needles protruded from the whip. The whip began to dance in a way far from how a normal whip would act. It slashed apart the room in an instant, but Amar Sin’s bed was never touched, no matter how crazy the whip’s movements were.

After stopping his display, he handed the whip to Amar Sin and explained about the weapon.

“This whip can be entirely controlled by the user’s mind. It also can grow to unimaginable lengths and suck the enemies’ vitality. It can also be used as a way to constrict your opponents. So please, send my regards and apologies to Miss Lilith. See you later!”

As he left, he dropped a bag onto the table beside the door. In it were many soul stones, probably for paying for the damages. After eating his share, Amar Sin held onto the whip and began his trip back to the Lilim Household.

His trip would have to take an unimaginably long time. The travel from Eligor’s mansion to the Academy was pretty much five hours riding a hippogryph. The distance to Gloss City from his mansion, however, was merely 2. This was because Melakios was bad with directions and went the wrong way, although he didn’t care since he was going to do whatever he wanted. From Gloss City to the Tengu Mountain was a dozen hours riding on a Gryphon. This meant that the time it would take a hippogryph to fly there would be closer to a full day. And the crew went further still, traveling to a small town known as Slito. Slito was still a couple hours away using a gryphon, making the distance almost as much as the distance from the mansion to the Academy. But the Academy wasn’t where Lilith was.

She was located far beyond the Academy. The Academy was west, while Slito was slightly south east from Eligor’s mansion. His trip would have Clair fly for thirty hours before they caught sight of the Lilim Household’s territory. And he wasn’t using a gryphon!

But he didn’t have to. The feeling of having this power was like a drug, granting him the ability to go faster for longer periods of time. In fact, his speed was actually slightly faster than Clair’s!  He shaved off a good five hours!

He flew into the castle entrance and went to see the Succubus Queen.
