Chapter 12 - Victory!

Chapter 12 - Victory!

They began slaying the archers as though they were livestock in a slaughterhouse. When Uncle and Celeric approached, all of the archers stopped shooting their arrows and instead drew their short swords to protect themselves.

The spear, encased by wind magic, was hurled by Celeric. The enchantment increased the speed of the spear, allowing it to penetrate three orcs in a manner similar to a sandwich.

He picked up a bow and a bundle of arrows from the ground and started firing arrows at an astonishing pace. It goes without saying that a spear or a sword are useful in close combat circumstances. However, Celeric's degree of projection and the grace of his movement were breathtaking. It seemed as though a craftsman was working on his masterpiece.

Uncle Uuk, on the other hand, made the identical motion but with two swords in his hand. One was a small sword dropped from archers nearby. He was intimidating the opposition by yelling and tanking some of their less severe strikes, regardless of whether or not he could have avoided them.

The arrival of Uncle and Celeric changed everything about the situation on the battlefield, as the archers were no longer a force after their arrival. The orc warriors on the opposing side were caught off guard as Father's army swiftly switched from a defensive to an offensive posture.

"RAGUH..!!!!!" Father yelled, implying the adversaries in front of him. Even I could feel molecules entering my eardrums right now. To suggest that his cry only intimidated the enemy would be an understatement. I saw several of our own younger orc troops at the back twitching.

They rapidly transitioned from a defensive to an offensive stance, forming a V-shaped formation and placing their spears on the shield. Then they started slaying the enemy as they pushed them towards the corner.

I couldn't believe what I was seeing in front of my eyes was real or whether it was all in my head. My mouth dropped open the whole time the war shifted in our favor.

One of the many reasons for me being surprised was that I knew EXACTLY WHICH TYPE OF MARTIAL ARTS THEY WERE USING.

They were using the 'Vayu-pagkarya' Movement, which was a movement that was used by one of the seven great families named 'Marut'. They were a great family who specialized in magic related to wind. I do not know what is happening or how our tribe relates to a freaking great family.

'Perhaps we stole their martial art....or maybe Celeric taught the techniques to father and Uncle Uuk,' random ideas raced through my head. But unfortunately, the story had plenty of inconsistencies that the author didn't openly reveal.

The battle was already in our favor. Opponents either have to give up or battle their way to a bloody finish. I looked at my father and Uncle's faces. They were smiling throughout the fight as some kids would. There were not even a single bit exhausted by the fight.

I was simply hanging out among the woods, doing nothing. In any case, there was nothing I could have done on the battlefield but be a burden to them. In order to get the most out of watching the fight, I really wanted there was some popcorn and soda to go along with it.

A few minutes later, I hear some rustling from the direction we came from in the forest. I climbed a tree and concentrated my vision on a single spot, trying to locate the source of the sound. After a few minutes, the noise became increasingly obnoxious.

Then it struck me: the orc and his children were approaching me with different weapons in their hands. They weren't carrying any bows. We were fortunate that the combat was taking place in an area where assaulting from the side would be almost impossible since they would have to leap over a seven to an eight-meter-high cliff. They were striding towards me.

I began having second thoughts in my head about whether to try to ambush them or hide and leave them to our soldiers.

I softly smacked my cheeks with both of my hands. 'What's up with my attitude lately? I shouldn't be worried by a single orc and a few children. I can deal with things on my own.' I consoled myself and began moving in their way quietly. Their position was hard to detect as they were walking inside a forest, so I depended entirely on the noises they created for direction.

It was getting close to their position when I came to a standstill for a few moments, and the sound started to change direction, away from the battlefield. I was taken aback by their sudden movement, but I decided to follow them anyhow to see what the heck they were up to. I followed them for an hour, deep in the jungle, making sure not to make any errors. Every move I made was premeditated. After a while, the whole forest became silent. There were no footprints at all. I believe we've arrived at our destination.

I assumed they had realised they were being followed because of the silence. I relaxed my thoughts and moved in the direction where the noises had ceased. Then, all of a sudden, I heard a child's cry.

The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation.

I did not let that bother me. The major aim was to remain undetected. Being reasonable in these circumstances is quite difficult for me. The shouts got more audible as I approached my location. I was losing patience and decided to climb a tree to see them. I stood on the bark of a tree and pulled upward, clutching a large twig, before making myself comfortable and squinting my eyes to see what was going on.

From afar, I saw a tiny subterranean bunker with locked doors, as well as the bodies of a little orc and a human laying on top of each other. The other kids were sobbing uncontrollably.

They maintained a safe distance between themselves and the corpses. All the youngsters hid behind the kid who had been slapped earlier by the orc. The small orcs were all weeping and holding hands. In those little orc's eyes, I saw both sadness and wrath. What they were going through scared me a bit, but the only thing I could do was wait and see what transpired next.

It had been about half an hour and there had been no activity from the small orcs. Instead, they were as motionless as a tree, their gaze fixed on their comrade's corpse.

I was contemplating what I should do or what decision would Celeric, and Uncle would make.

I decided to wait a bit longer to understand more about their situation. Was there a binding spell on them that prevented them from running or even making a single move? I have absolutely no notion.

After about an hour, I observed the small orcs trying to adjust their bodies more comfortably without really moving. Finally, I clutched the branch I was sitting on and landed softly on the ground.

The small orcs' focus shifted to me, and several of them tried to avoid eye contact by closing their eyes, But as I steadily drew nearer to them, I eventually stood right next to them. Their response was uneven; some of them sighed somewhat while others got more attentive yet remained still.

"Do not be afraid of me; I am an ally. I'm attempting to aid you." I chatted to the kids in a childlike approach. " In any case, do you-"

"That orc you're hunting for must have gotten away till now." The little orc who had sought help previously spoke in a trembling voice. He avoided eye contact by peering down at the ground. "Well, you should simply go back where you came from. There's no use in attempting to rescue us since we're tied by some spell set by that human over there. An orc cannot neutralize it."

Tears streamed down his cheeks as he gritted his teeth to conceal his rage at him. "Humans built a weapon down the stairs; they are very sophisticated beings. And aa—"

He broke down and clenched his fist hard, "We are just here left to rot, we can't move and there is no way without the help of humans to undo this spell. The best we could do is provide some information."

"Wait, was there a way out of the subterranean bunker?" "There is no way people could have unearthed so much dirt in such a short length of time," I exclaimed loudly.

"Well, I believe he teleported away, and even if he didn't, he would have been able to simply take care of you. That orc's name is Rudei, and he betrayed us and killed out our whole family, branding us traitors since our family was the tribe's leader. I'm not sure why, but people seemed to be fascinated by him. He most likely transported away with them using magic."

This is not adding up. In the original story, no one could use teleport. A spell this vital could not be hidden in the story's side plots. Why would an orc that isn't even red be beneficial to humans? I had a lot of questions in my head, but the best thing I could do right now was aid these poor souls.

I stepped towards the door and opened it slightly, peeping inside a bit to see if there was any type of life there, but there was none. I unlocked the door and entered the bunker, which was lit up by blue glowstone and littered with reams of paper with some sort of mechanical sketch on it. 'These will come in handy later.'

There was a giant stone in the centre of the chamber that was maybe used as a portal to teleport, and all of the corners of the portal were shattered somewhat, disturbing the spells engraved on the stone.hmm... So it could only be used for one-time travel?

I was a little bit frustrated that that man got away easily, but at the same time, I had not expected him to be some bigshot. I thought that he was not someone important based on the fact that earlier he was not able to detect our presence when we fled through the outpost.

As I opened the door to return back, I saw a sigh of relief from the little orcs; So They were not really sure of the contents which were inside this bunker as well.

"Well that was the only information we could provide you, I have one last favor to ask from you, please bury our friend lying over there." He said in a monochromatic tone.

I'm thinking of asking Celeric to help them with their problem, but I'm not sure whether he can. As a result, I didn't want to make false promises to these kids.

I dug a tiny hole, buried the child's corpse there, and offered a prayer for him.

I said in a hushed tone, "Stay strong," as a farewell to them, and then I turned away and began walking in the direction of the battle, which should have already been over by the time I go there since it was already so late.

I lacked the bravery to look back at their expressions. The farther I got, the more anxious I got about how things would turn out for them.

After saying my goodbyes to the children an hour ago, I was walking close to the battleground when I heard the sound of swords clashing. I turned to look in that direction. As I approached the battlefield, I observed that it was already covered with the dead bodies of the opposing forces, and some of the troops who were still resilient were being eliminated one at a time by our armed forces.

A lot of the orcs surrendered and were tied down with ropes by the shaman. I looked over to see Father, Uuk, and Celeric all covered in blood and looking really menacing. They were just required to stand in the centre of the conflict and give orders; the rest of their work had been completed.

Celeric noticed my presence and instantly turned towards me. "Hey, kid..!, come here fast." he yelled as he turned back to chat with my father. I ran through the corpses lying across the battlefield. Even stepping onto the battlefield emitted a heavy pressure on me. The sound of swords clanging and the smell of blood only added to that.

"Umm, There is something that you guys should know about", I muttered as I walked toward my father.
