Chapter 11 - Stealth

Chapter 11 - Stealth

Celeric collapsed to the ground. We looked at him with a bit of sweat running through our faces. Even now, the wind was steadily blowing because of the technique he used to eradicate that orc behind us.

Celeric's condition tortured him exceedingly. He was grinning his teeth. His veins were popping out as if they were about to explode. He removed his clothes and began to stroke his chest intensely without making a single sound. At this point, he was twisting and twirling on the ground, doing anything to calm down his pain.

Me and Uncle Uuk watched the blight show right in front of our eyes, not being able to do anything to help him. We spoke little to no words to each other for a few minutes.

After a while, Celeric passed out. I had a lot of questions running through my mind. Didn't only humans or red orcs were able to use magic? And by the looks of thing, it did not seems that Celeric was a Shaman.

Uncle Uuk had a very dark expression running down his face. Yes...this is the same uncle who, in every moment, used to lift our moods no matter the situation.

"Uncle... I have a few questions" I looked up to him hesitantly. He snapped out of his unusual self and tried to play the situation out.

"Ye-Yes... Uric, wait a minute, let me check his veins. His body should have returned to equilibrium." He put one hand across his vest and his head under one of his arms, picked him up, and placed him near the tree that was shot by that orc from before.

"Now you can ask me anything," he muttered, looking a bit relieved from before.

"I have a lot of questions, but first, I want to ask the most intriguing question of them. HOW DID HE USE MAGIC? HE ISN'T EVEN A RED ORC"

I asked uncle quite eagerly.

"Well, a lot of orcs which are almost on the peak of dark green orc, can use magic, but as you can see, it is quite deadly to use it. A spell of this caliber would have easily taken his life away if it had been a regular dark green orc." He answered while he was still checking on celeric. He was tense but was trying to hide it.

"Can't only humans use element distorting techniques? Not even red orcs can use this type of magic?". I remembered in the novel that no orc could use element distorting technique. That's what made the humans the superior race, as they are the only ones that could use element distorting technique. in short, we can call this technique 'mess.' Humans use mess to create nonexisting things or things that could help them in battle through magic, relying on their element, while orcs and other species could only cast magic spells in their raw form. We can never control magic to change its form into a bow or something.

There was never even mention of Celeric. If he was this high profile of an orc, there should be at least a mention of him somewhere in the text. But he is present somehow. Hmm, it's pretty interesting that some characters that are not even supposed to be in the novel are alive.

"You should leave the questions part for later when we get home," he said while picking up Celeric. "Now, I will be relying on you, Uric, for the rest of the path," Uncle said severely, "Celeric is too heavy for you to handle."

As he picked up Celeric, the ground beneath his feet began sinking slightly in the ground.

"Fuck, it's gonna be a long road ahead," Uncle exclaimed with sweat running across his face. Celeric was a big guy, even if we consider that he is an orc.

"Now it all depends on you, Uric. Also, we will be leaving footprints, so we have to be extra careful," Uncle said with a little smile on his face. At least he is now back to normal with that weird personality of his.

We began moving forward, keeping in mind that a battle was going on. Each and every second we delayed could mean the demise of our soldiers. With that in mind, I clambered on a tree to survey the area.

The houses and watch tower were aligned in a triangle-like formation, and the middle portion was utterly empty. I don't know what they have in their mind, but now is not a time to examine such things.

There was a narrow path down the trees to the left, which could be used as a route to the battlefield. The best and the most efficient way to reach the battlefield is through the narrow path. Although it was a bit risky, we had no other choice. I climbed down the tree and pointed fingers at where we had to go. Uncle Uuk nodded. He was carrying Celeric on his back and was walking with his head bent down. I can only imagine the strength that he was using to execute this feat.

We were moving through the narrow path and suddenly heard a loud racket of doors slamming. Me and Uncle Uuk took cover behind a broken wooden house from where we could observe bits of what was going on.

I got up a little bit and tried to figure out what was happening. I saw that there was a little bit of crack in a wooden plank. I then tried scorching my eyes onto it to look through the other side. And boy oh boy was I horrified by the scene.

There were little orcs around two to three months old lined up in the middle of the settlement with jacked-up bodies. There were signs of abuse on them. Each of them had many scars on their body and some had missing limbs. They wore nothing except a skirt like short which was generally used by feral orcs.

The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

Each one of them had a weapon in their hand. So there was an extensive range of weapons used by the kids. Well, at least they can use the weapon of their choice.

Then a massive Orc around the level of light green appeared from within the jungle with a heavy sword tied to his back.

"SILENCE...! it seems that some invaders have passed from this location or nearby. Quilx...come forward" a little boy stepped out immediately. I could only see his back. He seemed to be the most athletic out of the other small orcs.

"do you know what grave crimes you have committed by allowing some lowly intruders to get this far, you should have blocked them from even getting into the forest ...UGGH, how the great humans will react when they come to find out about our indiscretion," he said while looking to the sky. Next, he started bitching about how it is a privilege for them to serve under humans and how generous they are. Then, out of nowhere, he took out his heavy sword with both hands, swung expeditiously, and hit Quinx with full force from the blunt side.

This orc was acting very unnatural. Not even feral orcs in the story were ruthless to their own people. So the human must have done something to them. This is very concerning as the humans in the novel were portrayed as upright and faultless individuals. I noted in my mind that from this point forward, I will only refer to the novel for the main points and not act recklessly.

Celeric was suffering immensely. He began scratching his chest on the part where the heart is located in order to ease his pain. Uncle Uuk got back into his serious face.

I focused my mind back on the happening that was in front of me. The beating of the orc slowed down as he began losing his stamina. He suddenly stopped beating the kid. He was out of breath and was breathing heavily. He grabbed the kid's spear and then threw it with great force in our direction.

I lowered my head and crawled back into the bushes, expecting the worst outcome. We could not just move forward as the orc would notice our movements.

"fuck! did he notice that we are here" Uncle Uuk spoke softly, uncle's hand was right on his weapon, Ready to unsheath it at any time.

The kid began sauntering in our direction. Unfortunately, he was beaten badly almost to the point of falling many times while he was walking in our direction.

I became extremely nervous and pulled out a knife to finish him. He was very near to us. But he just picked up his spear and began returning to his position. As he returned, he looked in our direction and shed a tear as if asking for our help. He wiped his tears with his arms as he looked away from us, trying to play his character.

I felt rage running through my veins. I was grinning my teeth while clinching my fist hard. There was no way to save him in this shit situation.

"Now go find those damn intruders if you want to see the next morning." That Orc shouted while going back to his quarters while dispersing everyone.

"phew...I guess he didn't notice us." uncle Uuk said, who was behind me helping Celeric relieve his pain. "No, he did notice us, but he just let us go."

I explained to Uncle Uuk everything I saw through the hole. He was distraught, but as our situation was now, our priority was to flank the rear of the archers.

We continued marching forward sneakily. Uncle uuk was now adjusted to the weight of Celeric on his back and was walking in a manner by which he left little to no shreds of evidence for the little orcs to follow.

I was glad that we went past the settlement. Nonetheless, I was outraged that I was so helpless and could not even do a single thing during the whole battle.

We walked for a few minutes after that till we began hearing clashes of swords and constant nocking of the bows. We stopped momentarily, I realized we were very close to our destination, and my heart started to beat rapidly just by the thought of it.

"Why don't you climb up and see the state of the battle," Uncle Uuk said with a confident look. I hesitated for a second and looked down, imagining the worst outcomes possible. "Uric, you are very young so remember one thing, never-ever lose confidence in situations like these. That's what separates a foot soldier from a general." He said. He doesn't know the situation I am in. For orcs children, it may be expected, but I still have my human emotion. I was nervous on the battlefield. All of my hard work was still not enough to stand on the battlefield with confidence.

Yes, I am nervous.

I looked up to Uncle Uuk and nodded slightly. I climbed the tree and tried focusing my eyes on our troops. To my surprise, we had little to no casualties during the whole time we were marching, just the losses from the start, and everything was looking good. We were holding back marvelously. I jumped down with a smile on my face.

"See, I told ya, our troops aren't half bad for a tribe who was about to go extinct a year back. In terms of war experience, I don't think there will be any other tribe as experienced as us." Uncle Uuk said with a heavy smile on his face. Now he was back to his old self and was blooming with confidence.

"Damn, that one orc took a lot out of me" We turned our heads to see Celeric sitting up with a faint smile. He exhausted himself, but it was necessary at that time.

"At the right time, brother," Uncle spoke while cracking his knuckles.

By this time, I had gathered a lot of respect for Celeric. So I went toward him and apologized for my mistakes.

"don't beat it. You are young, and everyone makes some mistake during younger years." I looked up and smiled at him. "Well, there are few exceptions like me who are born talented," he said while making a pose with his fingers.

Here we go again with his narcissistic replies...

We rested for a few minutes until Celeric stretched his body. Then, finally, we reached the point from where we had to attack them.

"Here we go, let's teach these inferior orcs martial arts of our clan," Celeric said while unsheathing his sword. "Very well, brother" Uncle uuk followed him.

'WAIT...WHAT?? MARTIAL ARTS OF OUR CLAN..? are you kidding me? What clan are they talking about.'

They took a few steps forward and walked right past me. I saw their back tall and wide, just like a pillar that could not be taken down. That moment was magical. Their confidence and aura as they walked toward the enemy made me feel small.

"Alright, let's do this shit. Let's teach these kids who is the real boss here," Uncle said, and they both jumped to the battlefield.

They started accelerating their speed at which they could reach the archers with swords and spear in their hand, and in an instant reached a speed where my eyes could not catch them up. They swung their weapons at the archers creating a wave that would impact the whole battlefield. I couldn't believe what I was seeing in front of me.

' HUHHHHHHH I THINK I KNOW WHAT'S THE MARTIAL ART THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT." There is no way I could not understand what they are doing.
