Prologue

A world of disorder and order, a place no one can understand or comprehend—that's what is called Yorem.

“As I thought, it seems like we can only lose."

Elise laughed at those words.

“Lose? That’s generous for us.” Elise said while glancing at the small, ant-like, immense size of the dots, which seemed like humans.

“It wouldn’t have occurred if... we didn’t lose him." said a rough voice.

At those words, both Elise and the assassin looked at each other and sighed.

“It shouldn’t have happened.. At least that’s what that old hag told us," said the assassin.

Elise shook her head.

Just to survive, they lost so much. The human race knew the conflict yet couldn’t respond back due to infighting and greed.

They fought for 20 years, during which the United Alliance army had already lost 70% of the continent a decade ago.

“The only reason we were spared for so long is because they were consolidating their rewards.”

“So what now?” said the silent knight.

At the same time, a huge roar could be heard dozens of miles away. The dragons were never allies, but now they are truly mad.

Elise sighed and said, “Well, do you believe in time travel?”

“Surely you must be joking, my highness," said the knight.

“Well, neither do I, but listen up, so here’s the deal..."

A few minutes later, the assassin ran with his entire might, with a speed astoundingly crossing over 100 km/hour. He ran for several days through volcanic mountains, ruined forests, and deserts.

He stopped, seemingly as though he had reached his destination.

He looked up and saw a broken, ruined mediaeval building that had a badge that signified a man looking up to the starry sky, representing hope and endless possibilities.

The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement.

“It’s been a long while. How many years? Ten? Fifteen? At this point?” muttered the assassin under his breath.

While he was walking, he suddenly heard a noise from a nearby bush.

Who’s there is obviously not what the assassin said. As an assassin, especially as the legendary famed assassin, such an obvious mistake would be too foolish to do.

If such a thing happened, he might as well step down as one, but it is not like there is anyone left to even oversee it.

The assassin merged with the shadows of the environment and slowly came behind the bush, above a tree. He looked over, and he exclaimed, “A human?”

The seemingly ordinary human, with black eyes and black hair with strands of white hair, said, "Hello.”

“How did you survive?” asked the assassin with nervousness since he knew anyone surviving at this point in time would, for sure, be strong or even stronger than him!

But what was weird was that the assassin could not find a trace of magic or a body for a melee fighter...

“Oh, uh, I just hid here. You see, there’s something called a non-existence zone, which was created by a professor as an experiment. This can erase a person’s presence completely, although, as you can see, I am outside now since the charge got over," said the human as he scratched his head.

The assassin looked over suspiciously and thought he was lying and a perverted creature who plays games, but thinking about it, probabilistically speaking, such a person can indeed exist out of millions of humans.

"Fine, I’ll just believe this nonsense, but answer my final question or else. You know what happens. Where did you find the energy source? Such a thing must need an incredible source of energy to create an artificial environment.

“Well, as you can see,” the human pointed at his hair. “I have white strands, so I used up my lifespan as an exchange. Now, I have only a few minutes to live at my best.”

"Hahahaha!” laughed the assassin loudly. He never thought he would see an absurd human on his final mission, but he was speechless. Someone had the courage to sacrifice his lifespan rather than die right away, even though it makes sense.

“Well, anything to say? It’s really your last words since I’m going to die.”

“Nothing much, really. I shouldn’t say, but it doesn’t matter at this point. I have something called a source crystal, which basically holds the essence of a legendary creature. Here, take it.”

The human was slightly taken back at his openness but held the source crystal. But he didn’t expect what happened a moment later.

System initialising…

[Source Crystal found. Do you want to absorb?]

The human was surprised. Ever since he came to his world, he imagined himself having a system, but till now.. it didn’t work.

[Detected that the world has perished. Only two humans are alive currently. Must save humanity… Do you want to absorb its time-bending properties and travel back in time?]

‘I feel slightly guilty for taking someone’s essence, apparently, but I don’t care anymore. If there’s a chance to travel back in this absurd game, then let’s do it.’

“Absorb the crystal and travel back,” said the human, wide-eyed after seeing the assassin fidget with two other crystals.

The assassin doubted his ears and looked at where the human was, but what was shown was a peaceful ruin, as though the assassin had a nightmare.

“What?”
