Chapter 1: A Messy Start

Chapter 1: A Messy Start

Ordinary Human opened his eyes, and no, he didn’t arrive in a new room facing a new ceiling. He was floating in an empty void.

“What is this place? A dimensional distortion perhaps?” muttered Ordinary Human confusingly.

[System rebooting..]

[System requests former P&a*er Ja#$% to select his character route]

‘Interesting. The first time I arrived, I didn’t have this opportunity..’

[Error! The world has gained sentinece and its characters have as well. Changing to random selection mode]

‘Damn it. Now what?’

[Options:

Slave: 100 WC

Commoner: 500 WC

Merchant: 5000 WC

Noble: 10000 WC

Clergy: 25000 WC

Royalty: 50000 WC]

‘System, what is WC, and how many do I possess?’

[Host, WC is World Crystals, and you currently possess 4000 WC]

‘Damn it, must I become a commoner again? Not even a merchant?’

‘System, what's the average commoner’s potential?’

[C]

‘No wonder.. I was so weak. System, show me my previous possession stats.

After thinking for a long time, Ordinary Human’s eyes shined, although he couldn’t since he’s currently an astral entity.

‘System, are all the bodies my soul possesses completely intact?’

[Affirmative]

‘Is it possible to possess a noble’s body that’s not intact and has a weak noble house?’

[Affirmative]

‘Finally! Not a commoner this life. A wounded lion is still much stronger than a wolf after all.’

[Starting possession.. Please standby]

“So that’s how it was," replied a tall, lean guy. He was wearing a black coat with an identical black suit under it. He had a comical hat and monocle, black hair, and brown eyes. This man massaged his forehead with a disturbed look.

“I can’t remember exactly, but for some reason, I need to save the world.. And I gained muscle memory of skills I never knew either.. Interesting. I finally found something to kill time with," laughed the madman loudly.

The madman tried out a new skill: he cut his own arm, brought the arm of a dead person, and attached it.

“Huh, this feels like the same arm. I thank who gave me this, hahaha," said the madman as he flexed and moved his new arm.

Behind the madman, a few dozen horribly injured human bodies could be seen. A few of them wore mythril armour, the strongest armour in existence, but it was simply a plaything for this man. One of them got up and stabbed the madman silently a few times.

Unauthorized tale usage: if you spot this story on Amazon, report the violation.

‘That’s it?’ scoffed the madman. He went for his neck and cleanly finished him without any chance to survive.

“Just wait for me, Lucas," grinned the madman.

It’s been a week and Ordinary Human finally got a name - Jack Highlander. Jack was happy when he found himself in a new lavish room but later that, happiness turned to speechlessness when he fell down due to being lame.

Jack got up from his bed, limped and rang his bell.

“Yes, master” answered the maid.

“Bring me the newspaper, Ava.”

Jack took the newspaper gracefully, unlike his previous self. He thought to himself, ‘This is unfortunate, I went back 15 years. Now, I only have 5 years left to stop the fools from United Allianced Army. Is it really possible to stop them but more than that…’

“Master, the tea is getting cold.”

“Oh, I spaced out.” Jack wanted to say sorry but knew he couldn't, as the etiquette of this era was as such.

‘The news read: The Count Farne has been assassinated in the capital of the empire. Investigations are still pending, but devil servants are prime suspects in the incidents. His Majesty personally ordered the results of the events to be demanded.

‘What a joke. He’s simply trying to expand his power. Even a fool can see through that. But the timing is really bad. I don’t have much time, do I? I can’t let ‘them’ win.'

After flipping a few pages, he concentrated on a certain section that read, ‘Princess Elisa chose to remove her right to the throne’. A picture of the blonde, blue-eyed princess and a grey-silver armoured knight was seen behind her.

‘Huh, that’s weird’, noticed Jack. Jack was not aware of the current politics accurately, but as far as he remembered, Elisa did not give her right to the throne, even when he transmigrated late.

‘How can there be a change? Maybe I’m reading too deeply. After all, only I have a system. It’s probably that she joined the race again later.. For some reason..’

When first Jack possessed, he ignored the entire game world. He didn’t want to do anything with it since the game was called ‘Hopes Of Huamanity’. As the game name suggested, this game is heroes from every corner of the world arising and defeating the big bad boss.

But unfortunately, the heroes themselves eventually became villains because of the perverted settings present in the game. Jack arrived at the mid-boss stage as a commoner, procrastinated, and simply tried living as a farmer.

The hero of the story, Leon, wasn’t always played by the player, but in all routes, the game had zero endings until Jack did one.

Jack finally got sick of playing for years and made a sick plan: to simply kill every hero and play as Leon, and surprisingly.. it worked! He defeated ‘them’ but what was the result? Only 5% of the continent's land was left, and only a few 100,000 humans survived.

‘Whatever. The best time to defeat was 5 years ago, but the second best time is now.’

Someone knocked on the door, and the butler entered the room. He said, “Young Master Jack, Master is calling you to his study room.”

“Alright, I will be there in a moment.” said Jack lazingly.

The butler was surprised since he always remembered Jack as a paranoid child who remained far from everything. ‘What has changed? I hope it’s not for long.’ thought the butler with a glint in his eyes.

“Lead me"

Jack was seen standing with a large, well-built man who was reading his reports. He had black hair and black eyes with a brown hue, like Jack. He doesn’t seem to care for Jack’s presence, as Jack has been waiting for a few minutes already.

The noble house Jack possesses is a Viscount house. The Highlander family was a past Count family but was demoted to Viscount due to the mistakes of his grandfather supporting the wrong prince for the throne.

Despite this, his grandfather is said to have a high position as one of the few generals on the eastern border of the kingdom. But for sure, demoting made them also pay by count rivals, which is why their frugal status now.

While Jack was having his useless thoughts, Ray called out, “Right. Jack, how’s your leg now?”

Jack looked in his eyes and said slowly, “Well, the same as before.”

“Ho?” Ray looked at his butler and slightly nodded.

“Ahem, as we both know, Jack. You have honestly been a disgrace to our family compared to your siblings.”

Jack is the youngest and third son in the family. He has two older brothers, both of whom are highly accomplished.

The second child, for example, is only 19 and has been praised for his Intermediate Swordsmanship Skills, which, to put a metric, only a little over a hundred achieved such a level at his age in the entire empire.

“And?”

“But still, as my son, I shall give you my help since you are an adult now.” Ray said with his arm crossed.

That’s right, Jack has just turned 16, the day he reincarnated, which is what is considered an adult here.

Jack said, “Lend me Arthur for the next few days.”

“That’s it?”

“Yes, sufficient for his worth.”

“All right, he’s all yours.”
