“Hold her down.” Whispered a female voice.
Ellowyn struggled desperately, trying to break loose. But all she had managed was to make the large, rough hands holding her squeeze harder. Almost biting her tongue out of pain, she decided to cease resisting.
“Try and stay calm, the last thing we want is to have you hurt.” The deep low voice of the man holding her actually agitated her more.
It took all she had not to start struggling again. Calming down, she assessed the two who were holding her hostage. They both wore black combat suits which covered from head to toe. The women was holding an odd gun shaped contraption, it was large and clunky like a potato gun.
“Hold still, this will be over in a few.” Ellowyn could see the women smile behind her mask.
She shivered as the women approach. Staring at the potato gun, she invoked system analyze.
Cross referencing with database returned no results
How could you fail me now! Damn buggy thing. As she was still contemplating on what the tool was, one of the hand holding her reached behind and grabbed the back of her neck.
A jolt of electricity ran through her and to her horror, the moment she opened her mouth out of shock, the women immediately shoved the gun into the wide opening.
She tried to bite down but it was too late. She also tried to move her tongue but it was squashed when the gun entered.
Swish. The sound of compressed air being released as a small round object made its way down her gullet and into her stomach.
Foreign object detected, scanning
Warning! Deadly substance detected within capsule. Force ejection in 3...
She used what little composure she had left in her mind to navigate through the system menu and cancel the ejection. She knew well that resisting her captives then would only make matters worse.
“There we go.” The women pulled out a tablet and pointed it at Ellowyn’s stomach. “Its up and running. I hope that you keep your composure, little miss, while we properly explain everything to you. We can’t guarantee your survival if you resist too much.” Again, Ellowyn could feel the bone chilling smile beneath the mask.
“I’m listening.” Failing to hide the fear in her voice, she kept one of her eye on the women and the other on a more detailed diagnostic scan the system was running.
“The thing I’ve put inside of you is a capsule that’s designed to release a deadly poison. We can and will trigger the release of the poison is things go unwell.”
“What is it that you want from me then?”
“Try not to worry too much, it is not in our policy to harm bystanders, especially for someone like you. What we want, however, is the cooperation of Tom Price.”
“So you want to make me a hostage?”
“I’m afraid so.” She nodded. “However, because of our... administration’s policy, you are allowed to make a choice. If you manage to leave the Price family in the next few days and without letting them know of our deal, we’d remove the capsule and you are free to live as you pleased.”
“That doesn’t make any sense. Why would it benefit you if I were to choose the option of leaving?”
“As I said, its our policy.” The women sighed. “Nonetheless I wouldn’t recommend you to leave, if you care about your new family that is. You see, we really do need certain things from Mr Tom Price and despite our benevolent ideologies, we’d have to resolve with rather brutal force.”
“Why are you telling me all this? You know that I’ve only been here for days, why would you think I’d ever choose to protect the Price by risking my own life?”
The women laughed. “I know right? It is just that we wanted to try to negotiate one last time before using force. And if this negotiation fails, either by you opting to leave or Mr Tom refusing to handover what we need when you choose to be the hostage, which would result in your death by the way, the ensuing violence would be rather ruthless. Whether or not we get what we wanted, there would be many casualties that we’d like to avoid.”
“So you are making quite a gamble, placing the weight of my family on my shoulders. Did you also do the same things to the previous adopted ones?”
“Yes, and as you can see, they chose to escape rather than trying to save their precious new family. Its all up to you now isn’t it, will you choose to save your family by becoming our hostage or will you leave and let us handle our own matters, with plenty of deaths to either side?”
Blood drained from Ellowyn’s face. Thats not something you let a kid decide! Oh wait, I’m 18 years old now, crap. She had to admit, she missed the days when everything was taken care off, whether it be in her last life or when she was in captivity, those around her would be the ones making the decision. It was boring, she agreed, but it also didn’t include having forced to make decisions with probably hundreds of lives hanging in the balance.
Unauthorized duplication: this narrative has been taken without consent. Report sightings.
“I’ll be the hostage” She sighed. When it comes to her new beloved family, how could she not choose to protect them? And even if that wasn’t the case, the childishly good nature part of her would only nag her to death if she were to choose otherwise.
She hated being forced into such a position and also her inability to say no when it comes to the well being of even those whom were strangers just a few days ago. Sigh, I’d have to fix my weak mindedness if I ever want to survive in this world.
“Good answer, we’ll make sure you have the support you need during your time as our hostage.” She took Ellowyn’s phone and started typing. “Here is our number, have Tom call it when he is ready to negotiate. You are free to text and call it anytime if you have any questions.”
Ellowyn nodded absentmindedly.
“I know you’re shit scared right now, ha ha” The burly man laughed, his voice booming. “But do know that I respect your decision, I’ve gotta admit, you’re braver than you look kiddie.” He patted her head.
She raised an eyebrow, they’re rather lively for a bunch of terrorist.
“I’d really prefer it if you stop frightening her, and your voice was loud enough to breach even the sound proof wall, you idiot!” The woman turned towards Ellowyn. “To be honest, I pity you a little. Just don’t stress yourself too much, notify Tom in the morning and let the adults handle everything okay? ”
She watched their backs as they exited through the same vent hidden on a nearby wall. I am being pitied by a terrorist? She looked back at the analysis report and sighed again.

Unable to locate electronic components, energy sources not found
Basic outline is available
She stared in wonder at the report outline. How the hell does this thing even work? There were no electronic components at all. The only thing holding the two compartments of poisons are two latched hatch. How would they trigger the release of the poison remotely was beyond her.
Another problem was that the system could only manipulate electronic components within the confines of her body. While it could still work even without the object having metallic parts, the only option available to her would clearly expose to others her otherworldly system. But she still had to devise it nonetheless since her life was at stake.
The emergency plan was to have the system modify her stomach activity to dissolve the glue the capsule used to stick to her stomach walls and propel it through her esophagus by force, all the while confining and transporting any secreted poison carefully through her endocrine system. .There was a small chance the transporting of the poison would fail, but it was only an emergency plan for the moment. She took a break to marvel at the system’s versatility. It didn’t make her a superman, but at least it would do a very good job keeping her alive.
She went to the bathroom and removed her shirt pajama. Tracing a finger on her pale taut stomach, over the projection the system made to the position of the capsule. She couldn’t feel anything, but she knew well that it was there.
Thinking over the choice she made, a small part of her wondered if it was really the right one, would I really put myself in danger just to save this new family that I had barely even know? The image of Alice’s enchanting, smiling face flashed through her mind, along with Tom’s gentle expression when he looked at both of them. She felt a sense of serenity, that she belonged in that place. She was a true part of the family and she knew she’d do anything to keep it that way.
Anger swelled from within the deepest crevices of her mind, a burning fiery emotion that she hadn’t ever felt before in her relatively peaceful past. How dare they threaten to take away what is mine? She gripped the sink hard, letting the foreign emotion course through her veins like a waterfall on a ditch. I’ll show them what I’m capable of. Her faint thin lips parted, revealing a heinous smile.
