Arc 1: Chapter 3: White knights

A bell sounded.

Suddenly a huge force collided with Max, which almost made him faint. The force had a head collision with his abdomen, thanks to that he was wide awake as if never been asleep. But what was that glancing to his side he locates the reason behind the force, Alice was rubbing her lower back with a pained expression.

Max also noticed that cuss whom he shared…. Uhm.. spend a night with has stationed herself far from the range of impact, meaning that she'd gotten used to it. Sighing to himself for sympathise with a dog, Max got onto his feet enduring the pain in his abdomen.

“Ah.., I'm sorry, I just got startled and ..er…fell down.”

Alice apologised with an embarrassed expression on her and blush that spread to her long ear making them stand out more in her silver hair. Seeing that cute expression of her, Max was amazed since it was his first time seeing the business-minded maiden Alice embarrassed.

“Okay, I'm going to get us some meal so, be a good boy and keep quiet.”

“Okay, mom!”

Seeing her command him like a mother, Max thought to tease her a bit. Hearing Max's teasing reply her face got even redder and she hurried outside, clearly wanting to get away from him.

Max kept on smirking long after Alice went out, it was probably because it's the first time in months that he had a proper companion that he can tease. “But can Alice could be considered a proper companion” such thoughts surfaced in his mind.

After not so much later, Alice comeback with his share. He still is astonished that she bring his share without getting caught.

“You should leave as soon as the sun goes down.”

“I know.”

Max can't stay here for long, it could prove fatal for him as well as Alice. While he was thinking what to do next Alice head out toward her job. Feeling a little abandoned Max sighed to himself and fell into deep thought of what do next again.

He was planning to go nearest human settlement and whatever comes in his way, but that also a tough task because of his appearance, some of those who don't scared of his appearance, would get scared by his weird tattoo, which freaks him out as well since he can't remember how he got that.

Two months ago, he woke up in the in the shambles of a building. He was laying on the floor in nude, there were pieces of clothes around him, which looked like they have ripped apart. Frist seeing his ripped clothes and his position on he freaked out, his mind going all over the place, but then he noticed he can't remember anything about himself apart from his name. Tentatively he got to his feet and noticed there were dry patches of blood all over the floor carpet that he was lying on. His blood turned cold “did he hurt someone?!” that question pops up in his head.

The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

On inspection of the whole rune, he discovered that blood marks are all over that place but nothing much sinister can be found. He eventually concluded that the house was destroyed many years ago, to satisfy his panicking heart. He grabbed the longest piece of clothing he can find, wrapped it against his body and ran away from there.

In coming weeks, he found out the house once belonged to a novel who was killed along with his family five years ago. The villa was since then abandoned.

He suddenly realised, that it nearly is sunset. While was thinking of past the time flew by very quickly. He started packing his things, he thought he should leave a few silver coins for Alice for her hospitality when suddenly Cuss ran outside surprising him since she never showed that much speed to him before. Chuckling to himself, he went outside.

Out of nowhere, he was seen, it was a man wearing light clothing coupled with white breastplate and a white cape. He was a so-called white knight from nearby empire from where Max came from. “What a human doing in an elf camp!?!” thought Max, obviously forgetting about his situation when the knight raises his hand toward the heavens and shot a magical signal.

Max knew he needs to get out fast so, he sprinted toward the forest without looking back. He ran for nearly two hundred meters before coming to a halt because he was surrounded by four knights. Two of them were swordsmen with swords gleaming in their hands, one was a martial artist and the last one was a magician.

Max dashed toward magician in hopes of surprising her but the martial artist intervened, they exchange a few blows and Max immediately realised he can't beat him, he's much more agile and possesses a greater speed, in other words, he is much more trained.

When others joined in Max was easily overwhelmed and get captured. He was brought to his keen, then a punch came flying from the martial artist on his jaw, which has so much that it nearly broke his jaw. His vision got blurred from tears due to pain, but he shook his head, two people were still holding him down so, he know that escape is nearly impossible but when he raised his head, his eye was greeted with a cold, blood-freezing gaze, the swordsman gaze at Max with absolute hate and disgust.

It baffled him so much, he wanted to him “why, what did he do to deserve that?”. But what instead happens is that the swordsman pierced his heart with his bare hand, his expression unchanged as ever.

Max was then left to die, all he can fell is an enormous pain in his chest as white knights walked towards the village, then he blacked out.
