Siwan could only grit his teeth as he tried to control his anger. He could snap Kyo like a twig without touching him but he would definitely suffer greatly afterwards. Even if Kyo was a cripple, he is still one of the sons of the Shin family. As long as Kyo isn’t gravely injured, no one would even raise an eyebrow for him. If he was killed though, the Shin family would lose face and avenge him.
“Furthermore I’ve already buried this fruit inside a special case under one of millions of trees on Mount Huang. Good luck finding it without me.” Kyo continued on indifferently.
“This is…” The group that came prepared to take candy from a baby didn’t think Kyo would be so cunning. It was harder than finding a needle in a haystack since the Heaven Peak belonging to the Shin family exceeds ten thousand acres already. Also he might not have hidden it at one of the three peaks! The commoners of the Huang clan live in the middle area of the mountain and the population is in the tens of thousands.
“In fact… I could just sell it to the Ling or Kang families as well. I’m sure they would gladly pay the price.” Kyo said with a carefree attitude. The Ling family rules over the Earth Peak while the Kang family rules over the Ocean Peak of Mount Huang. There is naturally rivalry between the three families that rule over the three peaks of Mount Huang so Kyo could definitely sell the divine fruit easily.
The faces of aggressors paled. The Five-Point Rebirthing fruit was a godly item that could produce at least five profound spiritual pills that would greatly aid them in their cultivation. The reason why Kyo had not consumed it himself is because that he could not find a trustworthy alchemist to concoct the pills for him. Any alchemist would definitely take the resulting pills for themselves. The effects of this fruit was that it can open five random meridians for cultivation! Its successes were highest for people under the Saint Champion realm.
“Fine! You better show up with the fruit or I’ll take that cocky head of yours even if it’s the last thing I do!” Siwan screamed out.
“Meet me at the Cliff of Demise besides the meditation pagoda.” Kyo replied indifferently and walked away. He didn’t bother looking at the group. Knowing that they desired the Five-Point Rebirth fruit more than he did, there was no way they would harm him now.
Kyo continued to finish his chores and returned to the Shin family household. It was an impressive mansion built with high class spiritual stones which emitted a gentle silver glow all around. However, instead of walking through the front entrance, Kyo went towards the garden where a much smaller and less grand structure stood.
This was the dorm that servants lived in. How did a member of the prestigious Shin family end up here?
It all started when Kyo became eight years old. This was the age where all children began developing senses for spiritual energy. Kyo had become the talk of the clan as the genius with unrivaled potential. Grandmasters of the clan had longed to rope him in as their disciple. They came to chat, play chess, and teach him on a daily basis. Every remarkable masters of the clan all want Kyo to tread down the path they specialized in.
Usually one picks one or two paths for cultivation. Besides spiritual energy, one had to gain enlightenment on the path they chose to partake. There is the path of alchemy, the path of the sword, the path of flames, the path of poison, the path of assassination and so on. That does not mean one is constricted to one path, it’s just hard to master multiple paths of sainthood. However spiritual energy is the basis of all paths to immortality and without it, it doesn’t matter how many tiers of Enlightenments you gain. Your longevity will not be extended and your skills can not be used.

Due to the special tutelage Kyo received from various prominent masters and his extremely high intelligence, he had reached the second tier of Enlightenment in almost all the fields that the clan had to offer. The first Enlightenment usually requires a decade for a regular cultivator to achieve, the anticipation for Kyo’s growth skyrocketed.
However something unexpected happened. Kyo could not muster any spiritual energy! No matter how hard he tried, his body could not absorb an ounce of spiritual energy. At first everyone thought he was just a late bloomer but once he reached the age of nine, panic settled in for everyone. The Huang clan invited renowned doctors throughout the land to check up on him after their own doctors couldn’t find out what’s wrong. The only solution they had was feeding Kyo enough spiritual medicine to jump start his path to sainthood from a regular mortal.
The latest straw was when a wizard from imperial family came to pay a visit after hearing rumors of a miraculous kid that could talk before the age of one and was as wise as a man in his hundreds. It was a supreme wizard whose cultivation was unfathomable even for experts of the Huang clan to discern.
At first he was extremely impressed by Kyo’s intelligence. Kyo’s near perfect memory along with his terrifying comprehension skills made him a perfect candidate to learn “magic”. Magic users are one of the rarest amongst cultivators. With Kyo’s mind, he easily gained enlightenment regarding the basics of magic and reached the second tier of enlightenment within a few weeks! This was unprecedented but the problem regarding Kyo’s lack of spiritual energy was still not solved.
Finally the Shin family paid a high price to allow Ryu to summon a magic companion. All magic users can summon one companion at any point in their life. If the companion dies, you can summon a new one. The strength of the companion corresponds to the innate talent of the caster so it doesn’t matter if a ten year old performed the ritual or if a century old man did. This meant that even if you killed the summoned companion, you won’t get a better one next summon.
There was a lot of anticipation for the ritual, if the magic companion was extraordinary then perhaps there is hope for Kyo. However… the first companion summoned was a fragile baby eagle! Although the clan members of the Huang clan had no magic users, they could tell that Kyo’s magic companion might as well be a wooden stick. The mighty wizard concluded that although Kyo has a brilliant mind, he has no talent whatsoever with cultivation. In this world people with true power must cultivate. Without spirit power, no matter how smart you are you will only amount to nothing.
The Huang clan is a rank 7 clan. Naturally their martial skills and cultivation methods were top class. When it was found that Kyo had low affinity with spiritual energy, he was slowly forgotten. At first the Shin family considered using expensive medicines to help Kyo continue on the path to sainthood but obviously the people under Kyo’s shadow all this time used this opportunity to obstruct him. Kyo had three brothers and two sisters, each from different wives of his father. Each wife wanted their own kid to succeed the family so no one supported helping Kyo and instead went out of their way to sabotage him.
Kyo’s father, the head of the Shin Family, was slowly swayed by the argument that true experts don’t use spiritual medicine to cultivate since leveling by spiritual medicine is expensive and shows that you have no potential in the future.
Just like that, Kyo’s fall into a hellish life began.
