"Ahm, mom... Where is big sister Nethaia? Didn't she come back home already?" Just as he went into the dining area, Vi asked in a confused tone. He sat on the chair and continued to dig in right away. His mother sure was fast. It was only a few moments and she had already prepared food for both of them.
"Nah, she texted me and said that she would stay at the guild tonight. It seems like their guild is participating in the Dragon Quest," Mea replied lazily as she took a spoon of rice.
"That quest? Isn't that dangerous for her level?" Vi took a spoon of rice and meat as he stared at his mom and asked.
"They have no choice. It's a conflict between guilds. It seems like their guild was challenged again this time and your sister had no other choice but to take the bet." Mea responded and sighed. Thinking about her daughter's situation, she felt a bit helpless.
"Bet?" Vi asked as he tilted his head sideways. He didn't know why, but he felt rather uncomfortable upon hearing it.
"Yes, it's a member transfer," Mea replied, as though she didn't care.
"A member transfer?" Vi asked with narrowed eyes. Now that it came to this, he was getting the gist of what his mother was talking about.
"You guessed it right, your big sister is the bet. If they lose, your sister will join that guild. In return, once they win this, that guild won't bother them ever again and offer them huge compensations. It seems like that guy is really into your sister." Mea responded with the same lazy tone. But there was a faint and sharp glint in her eyes this time that didn't escape Vi's observation. Vi could tell the anger in his mother's heart.
"That bastard..." Vi clenched his fist as a response and said in a low voice. Recalling the face of that bastard could agitate his heart and make him feel disgusted to the max level.
Vi respected his elder sister and admired her the most. As an elder sister who had always taken care of him ever since he was young, there was nothing else he could wish for her other than to have a better life and enjoy it to the fullest. He wished nothing but for her own good.
But if that bastard were to force her like that, his elder sister wouldn't have a good life. She would be living in sadness which he didn't want the most.
"Damn it," Vi cursed inwardly as he gritted his teeth. He wanted to at least be of help to his elder sister, but it appeared like he was more than nothing to be of help. He couldn't even help himself. How could he help other people?
His sudden reaction didn't escape Mea's watchful gaze as she shook her head slightly and sighed. She naturally understood well why her son was acting like that. After all, ever since he played the game a month ago, he was still yet to leave the tutorial ground as he was yet to kill a single monster even with all the effort he had made.
"Don't be too sad, I'm sure you will get it done soon," Mea spoke gently as she tried to comfort her son. It was not because she said it just to comfort him though. She really believed that her son could overcome his current situation and then finally get his first kill.

"Yes," Vi replied with a slight smile. Although his mother was really fierce sometimes, her love and care for him were incomparable. He really was glad that he had a mother such as her.
The two of them then continued to stuff their mouths with rice and meat as there was not much of a talk between them. Their thoughts were swept away by the wind that they reached far and wide.
Until finally, the two of them simultaneously finished eating. Vi left the dishes to his mom for her to wash them clean as he stood and left with a burp back to his room.
Now that he was standing in front of the game capsule again, he couldn't help but fall in deep contemplation. There were only 14 minutes left before he could log into the game again. This time, he was far more determined to slay those level 1 monsters once he entered the game again.
After all, Vi had always been determined to kill those level 1 monsters. It was just that he kept failing and ended up dying plenty of times, a deed so embarrassing that he wanted to take it to his grave.
He was just thankful that his father was a worker at Game Tower, the game company that created this mysterious game, as he made huge contributions to the company. With that, they were able to obtain a single game capsule which was impossible to obtain by ordinary folks such as them.
Although that game capsule was of the lowest quality, a failed product that they deemed, it was not as if it was affecting the game negatively when they played with this game capsule. Although the fact that he couldn't damage the monsters was not normal, it was the case that happened to him alone. When other people tried to use the game capsule, it worked just fine. As such, it was concluded by the Game Tower that the game capsule was not damaged and nothing was wrong with it.
Instead, the one who was wronged was Vi, who was conceived for being so talentless.
And this made him furious. Even if Vi told anyone that the monsters were just too strong to be called level 1, no one believed him at all. Even his mother and elder sister were not taking him seriously whenever he complained about how strong the level 1 monsters were in the tutorial ground. They would even sometimes tease him for being too weak until he cried in sheer frustration.
If his closest relatives were already acting like that, how much more if this was known to the world? He would definitely be a laughingstock wherever he went once this news spread.
That was also the reason why he hadn't come out of the house for the past month. He was too shy to meet with his friends. Since they had just played the game at almost the same time, they would definitely die laughing once they found out that he was still level 1 and couldn't even kill a level 1 monster, much less, leave the tutorial ground. This was really embarrassing, no matter how he looked at it.
This must be a secret to be taken into his grave!
As such, Vi was determined to stay in his room. Even when his friends contacted him through calls and texts, he only gave an excuse that he was leveling like crazy as he would crush them all at once when they met again.
That excuse was rather effective though. No one questioned him further as they had instead tried their hardest to not be left out and leveled up like crazy as well. Their goals were the same. And that was to crush their friends all at once. Oblivious to them all, this provocation of Vi only gave more pressure on him.
"I wonder what level they are now," Vi muttered silently. Thinking that his friends could level up while he was left far behind, he could only cry inwardly. He shouldn't have said that he was leveling up like crazy in order to crush them.
Heaving a long and deep sigh, Vi finally got into the game capsule. He wore the game helmet before he leaned his back and laid down comfortably. The game capsule then soon closed, ready for another adventure.

A hologram screen then appeared in his view as he found himself on a completely white background. Although there were still about ten minutes before he could log in, he chose to wait in there and prepare his state of mind.
Now that his elder sister was in distress, his determination to kill the level 1 monsters exceeded the limits. He must slay them all at all costs!
