At first, when he first met the slimes in the tutorial ground, Vi couldn't believe that those monsters were actually speaking and talking to him. No one mentioned something like that, so he really was shocked at that time.
As such, after being killed mercilessly by those slimes, Vi told this matter to his mother and elder sister and also reported it to the game developer. He also posted his reaction on the game forum to see if other people had also seen such a case.
But no matter how hard he tried to explain things to them, no one believed him at all. Not only did the game developers and the other people at the forum perceive him as trash who wasn't able to defeat a single level 1 monster, but they also treated him as insane. After all, how could a monster talk with the players? Unless they were at a higher level or a higher grade species, this was naturally impossible. And the level 1 monsters in the tutorial ground weren't at that level as they were designed to be defeated by bare fists.
Even his mother and elder sister only laughed at him, saying that he was good at joking. They didn't take his words seriously at all, even a bit.
Frustrated, Vi didn't mention the matter to them anymore as he tried his hardest to just eliminate those talking slimes instead.
However, the more he fought them, the more he realized the huge gap of strength between them. Were these monsters really level 1 slimes? How could they be so strong? And their form... Why were they so different from the usual ones? Not only were these slimes strong, but they were also so annoying that they could use the legendary skill: Trash-Talking.
And this could only infuriate him more and more.
Time passed by, and with the determination to kill at least one of these level 1 slimes, Vi had gotten used to them as he could finally last at least a minute when fighting one of them. The five slimes were also taking a liking to him bit by bit the more they got along, as later on, after knowing each other through fighting, the five slimes decided to take him as their disciple.
One by one, they taught him how to fight properly and make use of his mana. Although the method was quite fierce and brutal, they taught him how to fight. And although this kid was stubborn and was refusing to obey them, he was following their teachings instinctively in order to survive their barrage of attacks. A real talent indeed. That was hard to come by even in the thousands of years.
That said, the five slimes were delighted. If they could just cultivate such a talent, then perhaps, there would be a chance for them to be freed from their prison.
However, contrary to all of them, Vi, the person in question, didn't feel a trace of delight at all. What he felt was dejection and contempt for himself for being too weak. Just how in the hell was he unable to kill these damned slimes?
Vi longed to leave the tutorial ground. But he was too incompetent to make it happen. Time passed by and even with a little damage, he couldn't bring it to those slimes at all. Instead, he was the one who was always being dealt damage by the slimes, until he died then and again.
The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
For the past month, he fought them with everything he had. Might and bravery were his number one weapons. Without realizing it, his battle instinct was being sharpened day by day. Fighting them for over a month also made him learn the pattern of their movements. As a result, he could finally last a couple of hours when fighting them 1v5.
Not only did he learn the pattern of their movements, but Vi had also grasped the very essence of their skills and abilities. As such, he made use of it to counter them.
Not only that, but he could also apply what he learned to himself, making him stronger despite being a level 1 player. However, he naturally didn't notice this strength. After all, the slimes he was fighting made him feel inferior.
But this trivial thing wouldn't be able to stop him from his growth. This wouldn't discourage him from killing them and completing the first quest. Now that his elder sister was in distress, he must break through his limits. No matter how hard the obstacles were, he was determined to overcome them all.
With all of that in mind, the aura around Vi suddenly became terrifying. Holding the wooden stick like a sword, his eyes flashed with a cold glint. The wind was agitated, and a vortex was formed to surround him. Surprisingly, a huge amount of mana was gathering in the wooden stick he wielded.
"Woah!!! Is this for real?! Did you just reach the state where you can use the surrounding mana as your own?" The Bone Slime exclaimed in astonishment and delight. He was surprised that this disciple of his could achieve something this great in a mere month. Even on the five mainlands, or even in the great holy land, the talent he could display was extremely rare. He was a rare genius indeed! A priceless treasure hidden in this barren land. He was really thankful that he stumbled upon this kid amidst their imprisonment.
Thinking about it, the Bone Slime continued with a wide smile, "This must be a fruit of my labor! That's right my dear disciple! Since you have so little mana in you, concentrate all of it at one point to make it as sharp as possible. And since that isn't enough to harm me, gather the mana in the surroundings as well to make use of it. Gather as much as you can at the edge of your weapon and use it as your deadly move. As I already told you before, what you need is not strength nor a huge amount of mana, but great control over the huge pool of mana in your surroundings, the world's mana!"
"Shut up!!!" As if he didn't hear anything at all but a continuous rumbling, Vi decided to cut in and shut the other party's mouth. He then took a deep breath and prepared to make a move. As such, he didn't wait for the other party's response as he rushed toward him to deliver his killing move, "Die, you bastard!"
His movement was so swift that if low-level players were to look at him, they would fail to catch up.
Even the Bone Slime didn't expect this to happen. And since he was so delighted at the sudden development, he failed to react quickly and let his guard down. As such, before he could do anything to defend himself, Vi had already closed his distance as he swung his wooden stick swiftly.
To Vi's surprise, the attack that had not worked before, worked so well that it left a huge and long cut on the Bone Slime's huge body. His eyes were widened. His heart was beating so fast.
However, knowing that this vicious bastard was way above his league, Vi turned serious again as he didn't dare let his guard down. In that swift second, Vi swung the wooden stick several times more. His expression was exceedingly cold. Every swing he made left a deep mark on the Bone Slime's huge body. All the resentment, every hatred he accumulated in his heart in the past month, he imbued them all in his every swing. Vi didn't stop until finally, the Bone Slime turned into countless pieces, splattered on the area, and then became one with the ground.
[Kill Slimes: 1/10]
Following his first kill, a window notification in a hologram projection appeared. Something he had longed to see for the past month finally surfaced in his view. A sight too pleasant to behold.
