Hailey did not understand the weak. Maybe it was because when she was younger, she was surrounded by humans with her human dad and reptilian mother. Her father taught her how to defend herself, and he put her through rigorous training. Yet he loved her so much.
Well, at least until he knew the truth.
Hailey's mother could not hide it any longer once her daughter's eyes flashed to reptilian repeatedly. She could not just lock her daughter away, and so to cope with that, she ran away from my father, moving on to the next man, then the next. Her mother always told her that her father hated them and kicked them out of the house, and Hailey hated all humans for this.
Every single day, her mother would meet with a new man for dinner. Just to provide food, she spent all her money on drugs that she would swallow, inject, or even taste droplets of while spending her money frugally. She classified herself as a high-value woman, and men flocked to her, not knowing she was just one from the slums of Caldera.
Her brown hair and slender skin mixed with her piercing eyes, which could kill with a single glance. She strutted with such confidence that even Hailey could not understand or copy. She was her daddy’s child.
So finally, after years of running and tricking other men, it caught up to her. In her final moments of desperation, she offered her daughter instead of herself. Blaming her. It didn't work. They were both arrested and separated, which made her happy.
Hailey was sent to her father, who still thought she was human, and he was ecstatic. A man loved her no matter what, and she was happy. They lived for a few years with each other; as she went to school, he went to work. The two of their lives were at their happiest point without her mom. She did not miss her; she ruined everything good about herself. She may have had good intentions in the beginning, but when she got into trouble, she did not hesitate to throw an innocent 6-year-old girl under the bus.
Yet she did not want to admit it. Not even now, but her mother was correct. Her reptilian form popped for a split second, and the horror that stuck on her father's face left her in despair. He kicked her out, screamed, and cried—how could a monster stay in his own home? So she left again, crying while the sirens rained, looking for her. She covered her ears in fear, wanting it to be all over with when a guide was offered to her. His scar went across his eye. His deep-tinted sunglasses hid his roughness, but his soft and gentle hands offered warmth to her. His brown hair, which was short and in a crew-like shape, was just like her; he was Prime.
Being brought down to the underground city was an eye-opening experience. Here, she could be free to represent what she wanted to represent. Free to release her skin, free to release her hair. She felt absolute bliss. She grabbed her room free of charge—free food, free everything. Their technological advancements were a marvel to behold, but she still felt something was missing.
"Hey Prime, why don't we battle?"
Prime smoked his virtual cigar, chuckling while pounding his chest with a fist to release the last remaining smoke.
"We are diplomats, not those barbarians that are above us. They may be evil, but still, hiding in plain sight is our best option.” Hailey could look into his eyes. He had the same fire as hers, but while hers was only a spark, his was like a forest fire.
"What if we all get killed and we cannot win the battle? We need experience; we need soldiers; we need to fight.” She sighed, turning her back to the railing and looking at the roof of the cavern.
Prime did not speak, and her consideration was taken into account. She was worthy of being part of the Special Soldiers program, which was heavily promoted by Grand Commander Lios. Still, he was reluctant to sign, like someone forced him to or there was a situation that needed to happen due to his signing.
They used failed lab experiments to replicate a very big cloning project back in the day. Separating a strong reptile into two able bodies. The tough ones in her class both had separate personalities and separate ideals, which could be considered good, but their power was immeasurably weaker.
She met with a great friend of hers and a rival who matched her energy. CC, the two always fought and bickered, but she was very grateful for me. She wondered what her friend was thinking about her now. If she thought that she was an imbecile, a dick, or a murderer, She always had a soft spot.
Yet she did not know anything about hardship; she could see it on her face, and Hailey despised her for it. She was also weak, just like the rest, and it was up to her to reclaim Caldera for the reptiles like Prime talked to her about all those years ago.
And now, right here in front of her, was the pinnacle of what she needed to achieve. Boo and Bam had just combined, and they were both very injured, but still, this woman, who came across hundreds of their soldiers, was unscathed. Hailey paused, and her legs shook, seeing her eyes look down on them. Her gray hair was short, and an eye patch now left her with a shocking appearance. One that made her more intimidating.
Hailey picked up her two daggers. Holding both in her hands. The combination picked up their heavy weapon.
"You ready.” Bam’s voice said it excitedly.
"Don't be brash, Bam and Hailey, Get ready and be careful; she's strong. I can sense that so much."Boo’s voice popped out.
Hailey stayed silent, and the two sides were opposite from each other. Then Madam Bourget took her first step, and the battle started.
A huge bullet flew to Madam Bourget’s nose, but her blade slashed the laser in half to the combos’ surprise. Hailey dove under with her dagger, stretching to hit her chin, but was deflected quickly.
The combo jumped up with the gun again, firing rapidly, and Madam Bourget dove and moved sideways. Her movements were in a quick frenzy. She could not bear to make a mistake that would cost her the battle.
The duo traded blows with Madam Bourget, who used her best efforts to try and bring her into a bad position. One where the two could work together efficiently.
Bombs were thrown on the ground, and the three of them jumped in the air. The floor beneath them broke, revealing a huge lobby containing the dead bodies of reptiles and humans alike.
The weapons clashed in the air. The heavy gun blasted quick, ginormous shots to try and catch Madam Bourget while the sword clashed, but it was no use. Her reflections were too quick, and her sense of hearing was too keen for her to be caught off guard. The three landed smoothly on the lobby floor, with a trail of smoke following them.
The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement.
The combo, becoming impatient, rushed into battle when a feeling struck them.
Madam Bourget's sword rose, and in a lightning-quick slash, the gun fell to the floor. With a clack, the combination made the grave mistake of looking down, and then he was kicked outside the building. Through the huge glass windows that surrounded the lobby-like walls.
It felt like a hundred slashes were about to rip on their faces, but yet nothing happened. Madam Bourget’s sword stayed stationary as she leaped her leg off the floor, using that force to push them through the soft wall. She knew it would be a nuisance to deal with two enemies at once, so why not get rid of one now?
Ripping through the walls, the combo was hundreds of feet in the air. Its fall seemed to kill him, so he grabbed a sticky explosive and placed it on their feet. They had one last resort.
Looking at the chopper a kilometer away, they looked at their feet and sighed before pressing a red button. The explosives fired on their feet. Coming out of the smoke was the combo, with no legs holding it in control. Beaming straight to the chopper, they grabbed the wind turbine. Stopping it with their strength while the chopper fell to the ground.
The combo jumped to the wheel, throwing the pilot out of the helicopter while it waited for its comrades to finish the mission. The engine started to catch fire, and the chopper was falling at a rapid pace.
The combination stayed inside, directing the chopper with brute force. With their nails inside the metal, they screamed as the two hard objects scratched against each other. Ripping blood inside, the chopper started to pick itself up.
The chopper flew higher in the air. Racing to the lobby, their nails almost gave up on them, but finally, the plane crashed through the window.
Madam Bourget and Hailey's weapons continued to clash and share blows. Each side is trying to regain the upper hand over the other. They ignored the chopper pulling into their vicinity, as the two were too focused on killing each other.
The metal cracks started to appear on their weapons. Continuing the battle, they still ignored it. When Boo and Bam separated and came out of the chopper half-dead, They ignored it.
Their battle was too deep to ignore, and it was not going to end until one of the two was going to die.
Their eyes flashed in anticipation of the next move. They danced around each other swiftly.
"You're very strong.” Madam Bourget said it ecstatically.
Hailey stayed silent, her dagger continuous in their attacks.
"You're one tough opponent, huh? The hardest I have ever faced.” She pointed to her as their swords clashed. Their eyes locked into one another.
The sword flung away as the two leaped back a meter.
"You are very special for such a young girl; you remind me of myself.” Madam Bourget smiled; her sword arm became horizontal as she pointed its gleaming tilt to Hailey.
"I am nothing like you; you are a monster.” Hailey denied it; her dagger came rushing at Madam Bourget again, with Madam Bourget smiling. Her attack was deflected, and her stomach was kicked. Using her shoulder, Madame Bourget struck the back of Hailey, sending her flying to the floor.
Bam called out for Hailey, but his voice became silent. Boo remained unconscious, and Madam Bourget turned circles around Hailey. Her steps echo, with only the noise of gunfire from outside the building echoing. The sunrise finally came, shining its bright and generous light onto Madam Bourget, who had Hailey sprawling at her feet.
Hailey quickly did a backflip, much to the dismay of Madam Bourget, who struck her sword on the floor, ready to deliver the final blow.
"You still have some sort of heart-to-heart fight; I love that. It's great to see a woman finally achieving something for herself. For me, it took years of trying to prove myself, but you... you have made yourself worthy of a challenge from me.”
Hailey's dagger shone from the sunrise. The two stood in their positions. Madam Bourget stood with her sword shadowing over her other shoulder, twisting around the back of her neck. Her feet were planted deep into the floor. Hailey dropped low. Her hands held a tight grip on the daggers, and the two eyes were like tigers. Meeting each other in the jungle. Both are ready to kill.
For their final clash, they did not notice the burst of energy appearing from the mountains. Or the babies that surrounded them, the actions that got them to this point. They did not notice the two armies marching to each other for the civil war in the middle of an already ongoing war. Now was the time for retribution for both sides. Amid everything, nothing could stop the two of them from stopping their battle.
Their ideals clashed with the flick of their sword, but an overwhelming feeling of the release of their anxiety left them. They smiled with every slash and every blow. What they believed in echoes like tough bubbles in the air.
How this would end would all happen from one mistake. Still, it would be mistaken to expect it to end quickly. Time moved the fastest it had for them. The happiness that ensued inside their bodies made sure that they had what they needed. A feeling that chased them.
Both of their father's issues and their mother's issues bonded with them in this duel to the death. Their strikes kept clashing, and the two treated each other with a sort of dignity nobody else would.
Madam Bourget saw herself in this girl. A young soldier was raised to be a war hero. Still, maybe in another life, she thought. The two would have been friends, mentors, and students. The two of their paths would have been so different if they had just taken different turns in life.
Hailey wondered herself: what if she never took in those reptile powers? She never snitched on her mother. What if she never made those choices? Where would she be now? Embarrassed as she was talking about her past, this battle with Madam Bourget helped her remember her own.
She thought about the young girl she thought she was going to be. One who thought of happiness, gracefulness, and an all-around sense of what was the right thing to do. Maybe she did turn into a bad person.
Continuous parries, ducks, side steps, and doges continued. With the manifestation of this battle still in a blur, The two’s swords felt only metal and not the rough patches of skin needed for victory.
Hailey looked at Madam Bourget; she lost her attention and looked at the dead bodies. She reminded herself of the crimes she had committed. With all of those kills she had gotten, she could not save any one of those squad members in those cars.
Madam Bourget slashed her chest, and Hailey stepped back. She coughed, and only blood came out, but she still stood. Bam stood crying as Haley touched her chest with her index finger. With the blood spilling down her fingertips and into her nails, and with blood coming from her teeth, she lifted her two daggers again.
She wished for whatever god there was. To forgive HR, she promised to be better. She promised to avenge those killed but not to become violent. She had gotten Joshua’s message all wrong, she realized.
Her dagger slashed into the arms of Madame Bourget, her legs slowly breaking out on her.
She was not a murderer. She never wanted war; she never wanted battle. So why was she here? Killing so many innocent people. People with great families like hers before they broke up. Why was this never-ending cycle of violence continuing?
Her dagger continued to strike as the two sides became part of their pool of blood. Both of their thoughts arose in their heads about why they continued the fight and that this would be the last time they should be killed.
With the metal crashing onto the floor and only a few millimeters away from each other, one made the fatal blow while the other made the crucial mistake.
