Hi everyone! I am uploading this one right now and will try to answer some questions tomorrow, so if you have any questions, please put them in this chapter's comment. I got one question and will answer that as well. Right now, I suddenly got a lot of work so I have to hurry. (P.S. This one might be shorter than the other chapters, so I would like to apologize.)
----------------------------------------
Elia was just a normal girl. That was at least what she thought about herself. She was actually the daughter of Arnold, the village chief of the Wyvernian Village, and Chloe, his wife. They both were caring parents and always helped her during troublesome times. She did not know how, but she was able to understand everything faster than the others. However, she was not really lucky, as many of the other children thought of her as weird. Most of them were girls who were of the same age.
Then she met the old man, Oldrin. He was like a second father and a friend at the same time, to her. He talked to her normally and also scolded her if he heard about her doing something wrong. She did not know how he learned about the incidents as nobody in the village knew him, but she did not care about that. She was happy as Oldrin also shared his stories and experiences. In many of them, he always talked about a fox.
He would then, end the story with a warning, "Do not ever anger a little fox." This warning was then deeply ingrained in the little Elia's mind. After a few months, Oldrin stopped visiting her. However, on her birthday, instead of him, some people who called themselves the 'Knights of the Church', came at their house. When she first saw them, she was scared, but it turned out that her father, Arnold, called them. She was then filled in on the details.
Apparently, she was destined to defeat a dangerous monster, so to make it easier for her, they were going to clear a path to the forest. It was planned that her father and some of the other villagers would accompany them. Hearing that, she insisted on going with her. When Arnold tried to refuse, she threw a big tantrum. In the end, Arnold had to listen to his daughter's wishes.
That was how they came in the Mystic Forest. From there, everything happened very fast. They were ambushed by goblins and their escape route was cut off. Her father took a blow which was aimed at her and was then put on fire. She cried towards him. The only sound that dominated the area though, was of the Goblins' Leader's laughter. He was wearing armor and had a big sword which looked like it was too big for him.
Suddenly, a knight who was defending her shouted to her, "Run away from here!" She had no choice but to run away yet she wanted to help the other; to protect the others. Filled with a torrent of emotions, she fled. She heard the Goblins' Leader say something to his subordinates, but she did not pay any attention to it. She ran as fast as she could and then ended up in a wide clearing. She surveyed her surroundings nervously. However, a voice that spoke directly to her mind made her stiffen.
It said, "You idiot. Why did you run away? Well, I guess you were not taught anything to end up in this mess." The voice had no trace of fear or worry. It only had pure irritation. She tried to converse with the person. "Who are you and where are you?" Elia asked. She waited for a response.
This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road. If you spot it on Amazon, please report it.
After some time, a response came. It was the same voice. It said, "My name is Vana Ludius and I am standing right next to you." This time too, the other person was irritated. Elia looked around herself but saw no one except a little black fox. She ignored it and was going to ask the voice again when a thought occurred to her. It was "Whether the voice belonged to the black fox or not?" She tried to dismiss it by shaking her head when the fox hit her head with its paw.
It seemed to her that she had been talking to a magic beast; a feat that none could pull off; when suddenly it declared telepathically, "Today is your birthday, right? Well, consider me as a present from that old geezer, Oldrin. Hurrah and whatever you people say to celebrate." Somehow, from her train of thoughts, only one became clear. It was that, the voice was too monotonous for a normal living being.

Ludius was quite touched when he saw the knight order the girl, Elia to run, however he knew the outcome so he had to do something before Elia became the Goblin King's toy. Apparently the Goblin King's name was Gol. He followed Elia who was running as fast as a horse. Once he and the goblins were separated from the goblin horde, he silently killed the goblins one by one. The goblins were so focused on pursuing the girl that they did not notice their own numbers dwindling. When Ludius killed going for the last goblin's life, it sensed him and countered him by using the short dagger that it was holding. It was good try that the goblin made, however, it was not a mortal wound for Ludius. It only scratched his skin and then the blade of the dagger, broke into two.
The goblin was terrified when he saw that his blade had no effect on the fox, and raised a cry for help. Ludius quickly killed him with a normal bite skill. Even if one were to call it normal bite, it had enough strength to destroy a troll's skull. He had not touched his other skills too much, as they were already too strong to use on normal beings like goblins. Also, though he could use magic, he was not able to do more than shape magic into items or use his knowledge to cause normal scientific phenomena.
He followed Elia's smell and reached a clearing where she was nervously looking around herself. He then called out to her only to find out that she was not literate enough for him to consider her as his master. He did not want to have anything to do with her but as he did not like to break a promise, he reluctantly told her that he was a present from Oldrin. The reason was simple. He knew that Oldrin did no have a shred of intelligence to at least use an alias. However, after some seconds passed she suddenly looked at him and backed away in fear. Ludius had one thought in his mind. "Such a rude person to back away in fear from a cute little fox." he thought.
