Chapter 2: Oldrin's Folly

Hello everyone! Today I got some free time so I am uploading this chapter. Anyways, if you all think that the prologue one was too long, then please tell me. I will try not to make the same mistake. Anyways, a friend of mine told me that it was too long, so I shortened Chapter 1. All that aside, like always, I would like to request all of you who are reading it, to tell me if you find something too boring. After all, I just started writing stories. Anyways, I hope you all enjoy this chapter.

This chapter is about the birth of Ludius' companion.

----------------------------------------

Oldrin teleported to the village at the edge of the Mystic Forest. He looked around and thought about the last time he had gone to a human settlement. When he came near the house of the village chief, he heard an infant's cry. It had already become night so it was easy to not notice Oldrin. Still, to not draw attention towards himself, he changed his clothes to that of a priest and then knocked on the door of the village's chief.

The village's chief came out at the door. He was a tall and well-built man. His age seemed to be around the mid-40's. He had dark brown hair and beard, and had dark hazel eyes. His clothing was not too flashy, but was not shabby at the same time. Anybody could tell that his clothes were made of bear leather. He asked in a polite tone, "Who might you be, kind sir?"

Oldrin replied, "May the Gods bless you, son. I am a traveling priest. I have traveled far and wide and am now trying to find a place to stay. At that moment, I heard the cry of a new born. I would like to stay in your house for the night. I will be forever grateful to you, if you allow me to stay."

The village's chief was a pious man, so he agreed to Oldrin's request at the condition that Oldrin had to baptize the baby. In this world, a religion similar to a religion in Ludius' old world had taken a strong root in Aeon. That religion had many priests under it. The religion was followed by many humans of Aeon. It was called Cazarity.

Oldrin agreed and entered their house. It was a cozy house and seemed to be filled with many happy memories. When he reached the living room of the house, he saw an infant in  the arms of a blonde haired middle-aged woman. Though, her face had wrinkles, she could still be called a beauty. The baby in her arms was sleeping peacefully. Oldrin asked the village chief, who introduced himself as Arnold, if the baby was a boy or a girl.

Arnold replied, "The baby is a girl. Is there a reason for asking such a question, sir priest?" At his question, he told him a fake story. The story went as follows: Oldrin was wandering around near the Mystic Forest when he felt an ominous aura from that place. When he came near it, he heard the cry of a bulk rabbit and was startled. As he felt that the being with the ominous aura was dangerous, he came to this village, just to check if it had come here. And as he was nearing the village, he met an old fortune-teller, and she told him to find a girl born to in this village, to a family in which, the man who wears clothes made of bearskin.

Arnold was astounded at the story even though most people would not have been fooled by it. He asked if there was a reason for doing such a thing, and not calling the Cazarity Church's Templars. Oldrin replied by saying, "I do not think  the Templars will be able to do a thing to that beast. Our only hope is to believe the fortune-teller's words." Oldrin said that so dramatically that it seemed stupid. Yet, Arnold believed him. He talked to his wife and they agreed to have her protect the village from the beast when it comes. This was due to Oldrin saying that the first human target might be Arnold's village.

After they ate dinner and had some more chat they all turned into their beds. All, except Oldrin. He went to the room where the baby was kept. It was a room which could only be accessed through the room of Arnold and his wife. Oldrin entered the room by passing though the wall. He did not walk but floated in the air. He did not want to disturb Arnold and his wife's sleep. When he looked at the small infant in the cradle, he could not help but sigh at the sight. He was going to change the life of the small baby just for his own selfish wishes. It was as if he was the demon.

However when Oldrin was starting to feel melancholic, he felt a gaze upon him. He looked and saw that the baby had woken up. But was not making an expression of fear, but that of happiness. At that moment, something lit up within Oldrin. He felt that this would be for the best and bestowed various blessings upon her and gave her skills and abilities which were on par with what he had given Ludius.

The next morning, Oldrin conducted the baptism of the little infant. On that day, the infant was named Elia. She was also foretold to be the one to be the one that would save the village and the one who would gain the recognition of a powerful magical beast. After the baptism, Arnold held a party to celebrate the birth of his daughter. However, when he went to call for Oldrin, he was not there. It was like he had not even come to the village as there was no trace of him. The only thing that could prove that he came to the village was the name given to the infant. Arnold held the party while wondering who was the priest.

"And so, you went ahead and gave her numerous skills and abilities, right?" The one, who asked the question telepathically, was Ludius. He was sitting and eating the bulk rabbit he had killed some days ago. The one to whom he asked the question was Oldrin. He had come to him to tell him about the girl, but he started feeling an unpleasant glare from Ludius. Suddenly, Ludius created elemental swords and shot them towards Oldrin. Oldrin let out a weird cry "Gyaaaaaah!" and started dodging the magic swords.

Ludius shouted, "Were you nuts? You just did the worst thing anybody could do! I was planning on going on a journey to find dragons! Why did you have to go ahead and ruin it?" He was telling the truth as well. He wanted to learn about dragons and get a pet dragon. However, before that happened, Oldrin had already turned him into a pet of some random village girl. He was erupting with anger.

After that, Oldrin apologized while Ludius threw blades upon blades towards Oldrin. Without knowing his skill rose by one level. After Ludius calmed down, he sighed and said, "Fine. I will agree to be a pet. However, I have some conditions…"

After that Oldrin could only reluctantly agree to Ludius' conditions. He was getting the short end of the stick, but it could not be helped. As he was starting to nod involuntarily. Ludius asked, "What is the name of the girl that I have to help? You never told me that." Oldrin opened his mouth to speak but nothing came out. He had forgotten the name of the infant. He was trying to find words, when Ludius abruptly asked, "You forgot her name didn't you?" Sweat trickled from Oldrin's forehead.

It was an amusing scene. The one who managed the worlds was cowering in front of a little fox. Afterwards, the forest was filled with the screams of an old man.

Ludius was in an unpleasant mood. The Supreme God, Oldrin, brought about this mood. It was going to become harder for him to complete his objectives. At that moment, a thought struck him so he asked Oldrin telepathically, who was lying on the ground panting, "So what will you do about this evil creature that will supposedly come from this forest?"

When asked Oldrin gave a simple reply, "I will create a dragon strong enough to destroy that town therefore do not worry about it." It seemed that Oldrin was filled with confidence, whereas Ludius was dumbstruck. Only one thought remained. It was, "Why did I jump from the level 1 boss to level 100 boss?"

Oldrin then happily bid Ludius 'Good-bye' and once again vanished. Ludius thought to himself, "That Supreme God must have a few screws loose in his head."
