Chapter 3: The Little Guide

Chapter 3: The Little Guide

Hello Everyone! Sorry for posting late. I was caught in a pile of work an dam doing this one right now. It seems that I will have a lot of time two days from now, so I will try to post more chapters to the story on that time. Anyways, I did not get to recheck this one, so I apologize in advance if the chapter is bad.

----------------------------------------

After Oldrin left, Ludius quickly ate the meat and then put the rest of the bulk rabbit corpse in a black sphere. The black sphere was a special magic he created using Astral Magic. The black sphere was the 'Otherworldly Storage Sphere'. It was called O.S.S for short. He gained the skill itself but did not check it correctly.

He wandered around and found some creature that had the body of a lion and the head of a goat. By using Appraisal he found out that the creature was called 'El Tirado' and its level was 40. He was starting to ask himself whether he was still in an easy difficulty forest or not. Like that he started his hunt.

He faced many creatures. All were above level 10. Some even exceeded level 50. However, due to having a better brain than the other creatures, he was able to somehow, defeat them. The hardest ones were the ones that had better intelligence. Yet, Ludius was not a normal mystic fox. He had the knowledge of a human and was able to easily deceive the other magical beasts. His level rose exponentially and he was granted a chance to evolve , but he did not choose to evolve at such an early stage.

Leveling like that, his level reached 50 at sunset. His stats also increased exponentially. His stats had already gone beyond the limits of a normal mystic fox youngling which was 500. He checked his stat window again for the last time before going to sleep in a clearing.

When he woke up, he quickly ate some meat that he procured from the magical beasts he defeated, and started his leveling. He searched everywhere and found a group of lizard like creatures. Their stats were on par with him, but they all were clustered in one same spot, which made it easy for him to defeat them, or so he thought. He quietly crept close to them and used Elemental Barrage to defeat them. However, they did not die instantly. They were covered in wounds but were not dead. After the barrage of elemental attacks were finished, the lizards started shooting fireballs at Ludius. The true identity of these lizards was Salamander. They were still young but had unrivaled power when compared to the magical beasts near the edges of the forest.

Seeing that they were not dead, Ludius felt amused. He dodged the fireballs and activated all the strengthening skills. Then, he used his speed to confuse them. He also used illusion magic to get a better result. The illusion magic was a magic that did not need a skill level as it only depended on the user's intelligence, wisdom, and luck stat. It did not become stronger when the level increased, so it was considered as an ability. Using this magic he created multiple clones of himself. He had no reason to go easy on them so he used his special skills as well.

The salamanders were confused by the illusions and started firing their fireballs aimlessly. During this time, Ludius crept up to them and then used Elemental Extremity. Elemental Extremity was a skill that forcefully increased the magic sequence compensation in the space around the user. It increased it so much that only those, who had a good grasp of magic, could use their magic in the affected area. Those who did not have a good grasp would fall unconscious and all the mana in their body would be dispersed into the surroundings.

The salamanders, which did not have a good understanding of magic, fell unconscious and in that moment, their lives had been forfeited. After the fight he hurriedly put their bodies in the O.S.S and started searching for other creatures. He met many creatures that he had defeated, but did not bother to kill them. He only wanted to defeat one creature per species if there was no need. He found many new creatures when he traveled to the edge of the forest. There were creatures that looked like birds but were bigger and looked far more stronger than normal birds. There were also wyverns of different colors.

He defeated them and leveled up many times. He was starting to get bored, so he started killing indiscriminately. When he reached level 100, he gained a new evolution choice. It was the one with the biggest difference in stats when compared to the other evolution choices. Yet, he did not choose that evolution. He made up his mind that he would only evolve when he reaches the level limit, so he persevered.

A year passed by, and the northern part of the Dragon Forest was completely covered in silence. Ludius had moved to that place and started to kill the monster living there. He did kill in moderation, fearing that they might go extinct. His level exceeded 150 and stats were far beyond the amount that he started with. The creatures of the northern Dragon forest feared him and some migrated to the center of the forest.

The reason Ludius decided to stay in the northern part was that the village where the girl lived was near that part of the forest. He slept in a hollow tree trunk at the edge of the forest. He often saw many humans going into the forest but coming out dejectedly. All the humans that came had good muscular builds or had an air of experience around them. He named these kinds of people as adventurers. Luckily for him, they did not try to hurt him. It seemed to him that the mystic fox race had been friendly with humans from the start.

He lived there for about four years, and had reached the level limit which was 200. His stats were all above 5000 and his wisdom stat had reached 50000, for some reason. He had played with some adventurers and even helped them find herbs in the forest. Little did he know, that he had become a topic of discussion among the adventurers. He was called the 'Little Guide' and the 'Fox Helper'. Many adventurers went to the Mystic Forest just to see him. Due to this, some adventurers even tried to capture him, but they were never heard from ever again.

Some months passed by and Ludius lazily  spent his time. Suddenly, he heard a scream. He could already guess a hero-like cliche developing at that moment. He rushed towards the place and surveyed the surroundings. There were about a 100 goblins in that place. Though they were easy-to-kill type of demons for adventurers, the people fending them off were definitely not adventurers. They looked like villagers with the exception of some armored people. At the front of the humans a male villager had been impaled by many goblins. He was then, torched by flames cast by some goblin mages.

"Looks like, he was 'fired' today." Ludius thought to himself. He then looked at the remaining humans. They were all battered and many of them had the look of despair on their faces. At the place, farthest from the goblins a girl was crying and calling out 'Father!' It seemed like the person who was killed was her father. He looked around again and saw an interesting individual. It was the Goblin King. He wore a cape made of leather and an iron armor. He held a big, glowing sword in his hand and was laughing loudly. His face was a little more human-like than the other goblins, which made him look more evil.

He already knew the outcome but still checked the status of the people around him to check. He did not check to see whether he could win against the goblins or not. He checked it so that he could hold a memorial for the humans fighting against the Goblin King. He could easily eliminate the goblins, but he was not so sure about the Goblin King. It was an existence that was supposed to be stronger than an average human being. At that moment, his mouth literally dropped open. This was due to three reasons. The first reason was that the humans' and the goblins' stats made them look pitifully weak. The second reason was that the human who had been cremated was still alive, but only barely. The third reason was the status he saw of the girl who was crying.

It was not the fact her stats were the same as the armored humans, even though she was just a child. It was the fact that the girl, whose name was Elia, was the one that was chosen by Oldrin. It might have been due to this reason that he was starting to feel uneasy. "For now." Ludius thought. "Let's just watch how this battle plays out during the climax."
