A Royal Fox, a beautiful creature. Pure white fur on their whole body with nine tails floating in the air. Sharp gold-crimson eyes which give off a feeling of majesty. Deadly claws and fangs, as well as the ability to utilize time and space to their advantage. Most even have the ability to take a human form which more often than not is of absolute beauty and majesty. They were the rulers of the forests and beasts, the Humans even gave them the title of Kitsune, but that is not all. In today's society they count as extinct because of the great war, more than 8 thousand years ago. But back then, the competition to kill even one was great.
A battle against them required often multiple experts, such as warriors and mages as well as methods to seal their movement and magic-usage. Mostly the subjugators had to count with major casualties, as even young Royal Foxes had the intellect of a human and the ability to fight easily with an A-rank adventurer.
Rewinding time back by 8'320 years, Lumi, barely 200 years old, already counted as an adult fox, but was still spoiled by her parents, the Emperor and the Empress. So when the great battle occurred in front of their gates, the Emperor and his wife sent their daughter away, telling her to flee to the Dragon Mountains where their allies were stationed. Lumi understood that this might be her final goodbye, but she was still trying to honor her parents by taking along a few noble foxes with combat ability and fleeing towards the north, in order to cross the continent before the Humans could catch up.
Sadly she wasn't trained enough, so when they had just left, their group ended up in an ambush prepared by the Humans. Knowing full well that she wasn't strong enough to take on the Humans, she tried to manipulate space in order to jump somewhere safe. Although the magic started, they only ended up inside a trap, as the Humans had prepared for this and set up a teleportation interference beforehand. Struggling with her last breath, with her companions long dead, she suddenly calmed down, unbeknownst to her, she entered a state where she accepted everything and was, because of this, able to analyze her surroundings perfectly.
After what appeared to be only three seconds, yet felt like minutes, she detected that she and her attackers were standing above what seems to be a large cavern. Even her detection senses couldn't sense the bottom of it, so in the end, she made a heavy decision. She was heavily wounded, her ability to flee was also sealed and the attackers kept closing in. Making her decision final, she manipulated the Earth beneath hers and the attacker's feet and let everything collapse. Sadly, earth-element isn't her specialty, so she used up the last of her internal Mana and began to lose consciousness.
Just as her eyesight was about to collapse, she could see the Human attackers fall alongside her, into the deep cavern. No one survived that fall, and even if they did, they would have been slowly eroded by what was at the bottom of said cavern. Lumi already lost consciousness when the Impact hit her, so she passed on peacefully within the darkness, going to meet her brethren in the heavens. What she would have never guessed, would have been that she would leave behind an heir to her bloodline, even if he was a former Human from another dimension. But that, she would never know.
The Human Corpses around were slowly eroded, together with everything they had on them which didn't contain Magic-Power or at least a bit of Mana. Their erosion should have been much slower, but because they ended up just above a Dragon-Vain, the Pressure of the Magic-Power, or MP for Short, was just too high for their Body to contain. Even some of their Magic-Tools collapsed under the pressure and either eroded or even went up in explosions, further opening up the Dragon Vain.
What no one realized was that only the body of the Royal Fox, who was used to containing massive amounts of Mana wasn't eroded or destroyed. Due to the Crystal which started to form within the Body, it kept absorbing the Mana contained within, growing bigger and more pure with every passing second. Normally the Crystal would completely exhaust the body, causing it to fall apart, but the dragon-vain kept refilling the body of the former Royal-Fox with Magic Power which was then simply converted into Mana and fed to the crystal within. With this going on for years on no end, the body was like a stone in the raging sea. It slowly got converted into liquid Magic-Power which started to accumulate into a small pool beneath the crystal, absorbing even more Magic Power and converting it into mana ceaselessly. Speeding up the growth-process of the crystal now hovering above it.
Year after year past and after nearly 4500 years, the Crystal reached the height of 2 meters and 80 cm in both length and broadness. A beautiful white and gold-crimson crystal, floating above a small transparent pond whose water keeps floating up around it like vines, making it a picture of absolute beauty. But that wasn't the end of it. Reaching the height of 2 Meters, the crystal couldn't grow any larger, so it started to compress the Mana within, purifying it in the process. The Result was that the crystal, after another 2000 years past, became completely transparent while shining in all possible colors, making the cave feel like paradise on earth. Its appearance was similar to a Denali Crystal seen on earth, but by levels more pure and beautiful. It was not long after that the Dragon-Vain, as if having finished its duty, started to grow weaker before completely vanishing.

The last bit of Magic Power was infused into the pool before the Dragon-Vain vanished, yet with no target to feed as the Crystal was already "perfect" the pool just wildly emitted mana into the atmosphere. This resulted in the growth of various rare plants and metals in the vicinity who kept producing MP, creating an evergrowing cycle. Another 1500 years past uneventfully, with only the pool and flora around it growing.
One day though, it was the 23 day of the 6 Month of the year 9521 of the new Age calendar. It was on that day that a young child with chestnut colored hair and emerald like eyes fell through the hole between dimensions, ending up directly inside the crystal. There was no fancy effect, only a short rift and whoosh, he was there. The crystal, suddenly filled with the additional mass nearly burst open, but because crystals aren't as brittle on the inside as they are on the outside it kept together.
Normally a Human is able to absorb some of the crystal-Mana by breaching it and slowly absorbing it to strengthen himself. Yet even when you're lucky and prepared, the most you can get from it is about 30%, and mostly not even much more than 10%. However, as the boy never before came in contact with any Kind of Magic-Energie or Mana he was on a level of absolute Purity that not even newborn children on Treia could reach. So ending up inside the probably only absolute pure crystal was like sending a fish into water. His body was the perfect vessel, so the Mana inside the crystal had no problem beeing absorbed by it. However, as the boy's body was not used to it, the mana started to change the body on a genetic level, which normally would never occur. The most that once happened was that a person's sense of smell strengthened enormously because he absorbed a lot of Mana from a wolf-type monster crystal in a short amount of time. Yet the consequences of such a modification left him with a pained body for three days where he could barely move.
Now with absorbing 100% of the Mana within the purified crystal of Royal-Fox origin, normally the human brain would be unable to support such a level of change and collapse. Even worse so since the boy's internal and external physical and magical properties were completely rearranged. Yet to protect the mind of the young human who was suddenly thrown into it, the Crystal used the remaining knowledge and memories of its former owner to isolate the boy's mind and create a space where it could communicate with- and protect him.
Yet seeing that young child's memories beforehand, the crystal felt sad somehow. It never had emotions or feelings, but with the combination of knowledge and memories of the boy and Lumi, something akin to an artificial intelligence was created. Later, while talking to the boy it felt happy somehow, something it had yet to understand. The boy, Arin was his name, was quite irritated by the situation and showed that even on the surface by struggling in the beginning. But he calmed down once Lumi, so she named herself as to honor her predecessor, started to hug and treat him like Lumi once was treated by her parents.
Somehow there was a feeling of fulfillment in there. And as he completely regained his calm, she started to explain to him what occurred and why he was here. But before she could go into details about how the Crystal came into existence and what was happening to the boy's body, the space around them suddenly started to collapse as the pain passed the threshold that the isolation could prevent. Suddenly attacked by pain, the boy became feverish and nearly collapsed, which could mean his death.
In order to keep him together, she pulled him into her embrace and started to send pure Magic Power directly from the pool beneath into the body of the boy, trying to offset the worst pain. In the end however, what occurred was something that she with her limited knowledge couldn't have predicted. The Mana and Magic Power started to balance each other out, mixing together and forming something like a third kind of Magical-Energie, one which started to interact with the boy's very soul. She was extremely surprised, as Arin's body started to be reformed once again in a rather amazing way.
Seeing the stressed boy in her arms slowly calm down while remaining slightly agitated, she started to whisper calming words to him, sometimes even singing short songs she took out of his memories in the Orphanage.
She realized quickly that Arin was in a kind of a trance, unable to leave before the absorption and "Evolution"-process, named by Lumi, came to an end. It took nearly a whole year before it was done. The crystal was empty and slowly falling apart, while the pool beneath only had some essence at the bottom left, unable to further gather Magic Power or create Mana. In the last moment, Arin snapped back to reality, seemingly unknowing of how long he was there.
Lumi said some last words because she knew that she could collapse any second, but was rather moved when he shouted out in desperation. Even if it was more of a question directed at his circumstance, there was still a feeling of longing and fear present. Fear of the new, and fear of separation. She just happily smiled at him, gave him some last words of advice and... thanked him.
She could not understand how or why she felt that way. When she realized that she was already in a critical condition, she gave him one last kiss on the forehead, granting him all the knowledge and important memories she had, before smiling one last time like a mother seeing off her child.
As the crystal shattered and the unconscious boy fell into the pool beneath, no-one realized that Lumi, in her last moment seems to have accidentally converted her own consciousness and sealed it into his mind. Now hidden there, she sleeps, waiting for the day where she once more can talk to the youth that she came to love like her own son.
