The 'npc' Time Mage
prologue- nerf'd

prologue- nerf'd

Roger Skye was a gamer. Not just any gamer, he was a dark gamer; a gamer that lives off of games, selling items, doing interviews. He was powerful, with a unique class that only he had, spells that only he had, and the highest level on the entire Immortality Online server.

That was why he was so annoyed right now. You see ,Roger was a time mage. A time mage specializes in slowing down, speeding up, stopping, and starting time. This, as you can probably see, is extremely powerful in pvp.

Players envy him, for getting such an amazing class. The top players, however, hate him. His class is so unfair, that there have been multiple petitions on the Immortality Online forums to nerf him. Whether by banning, giving him penalties, giving other people the class, taking it away from him, and many more suggestions.

It got so bad, that some of the top players threatened to quit, and go to other games. When this happened, the Pegasus entertainment, the company who runs royal road, had to make a decision. They could lose all of those players, which would be extremely bad for business, or they could possibly antagonize their research partner.

You see, Roger was somewhat special. The only reason that Pegasus entertainment could create Immortality Online with the time compression of 1:3, was because of him.

Roger was born able to use over 70% of his brain. The time compression puts a lot of strain on the brain, because basically, the brain has to process things three times faster than it normally does.

With Roger's consent, along with the promise of a special class able to use his brainpower to the fullest, they were able to create technology that takes the burden off of the brain, making it safe for regular use.

This put Pegasus Entertainment in a dilemma. Offend Roger and ruin any chances they had of making the capsule able to handle a time compression increase, or offend the players, and lose a lot of their popularity as the best virtual reality game out  there. Finally, they called Roger with an offer.
