Chapter 1-wibbly wobbly timey wimey
1 week later
After a week, Roger got an email, telling him that his account had finally been reactivated. During that week, Roger stocked up on frozen and canned food, as he was expecting to play the game for an extremely long time without rest. He had to train his stats.
Roger waited until nighttime so his body could res while in the capsule. When it became dark, Roger opened the capsule, lay down, closed it, and closed his eyes.

Everything went white.
Is this a line break?
Roger logged in for the first time on his freshly de-leveled account and looked around.
All there was around him was darkness. ‘wow, did they upgrade the lighting?’ He wondered.
‘Oh well, first things first. Status.’

‘Huh, they’ve changed the name of the first tier time mage to Apprentice Time mage. I guess that means they actually added class advancements, huh. Let’s check what skills I start with. Skills.’

‘damn, I forgot how bad the time mage was at the start. I can either have 16 seconds of one spell active or 8 seconds of both spells active, this just being against a single opponent. I better go find a quiet place to meditate and increase my wisdom.’
As Roger stepped forward, he realized why it was so dark.
“DAAAMMMMMNIIIII*SPLAT*”
YOU ARE DEAD
When he was de-leveled, they didn’t reset him to his spawn point! He was still in the [Abyss of death], and he just walked over the edge!
Seriously, how to linebreak?
Roger stepped out of the capsule, mumbling to himself.
“Oh, you think it’s funny, don’t you, assholes. No one is lazy enough to forget to reset me to my starter town. That had to be on purpose. Well, at least I didn’t lose any levels. But I’m locked out for 24 hours”.
1 Day Later
Roger logged back in to Immortality Online, after a whole wasted three days in game time. As soon as he logged on, he realized that his satiety was almost gone. All he had was 20 moldy bread and a canteen of water which apparently could hold 20 liters.
After wasting one of his precious bread, Roger started to move. Where to, you ask? The library, of course. He needed a quiet place to meditate and get the feel for the mana manipulation system. Although he was a veteran at his class, the mana manipulation was new to him. Since he could finally manipulate mana, he could also make the skill meditate, which increased mana regen by 50%.
In this game, mana regeneration was extremely simple. It was wisdom/10. His 40 wisdom would give him 4 mana/sec, and meditating would give him 6. Meditating for long periods of time, and exercising control of the mana around you, increases intelligence and wisdom. Reading also increases those stats, but is much slower
Roger finally got to the Library, a medium sized building.
“hello, I would like to have a private room” Roger said. 1
“Ten copper.” The librarian mumbled.
“What? I only have 50 copper, I thought this was a place for learning, yet you charge for private rooms?”
“Look bud, we only have 3 private rooms. Unless you are willing to pay, you sit on a bench like everyone else.”
Roger sighed, and tossed the man ten copper, who in turn tossed him a key, and pointed him in the right direction. On the way, Roger gathered as many books on mana manipulation as he could.
Roger’s plan to train his wisdom and intelligence was to manipulate mana around him until he ran out, and then read books to learn about it and also gain intelligence and wisdom. He will grind like this for three weeks, while eating the cheapest food he can get his hands on. After three weeks of getting familiar with mana manipulation, he will try to create an attack spell with time magic.
Roger sat down on the couch in the private room. It wasn’t very comfortable, but it beats sitting on a bench outside.
He took a meditative position, closed his eyes, and regulated his breathing.
The time mage gradually felt a warmth coursing through him. He tried to push the warmth out, spread it as thinly as he could, and drag the world’s mana into him
Congratulations! You have learned Mana manipulation!
Congratulations! You have learned meditation!
Mana ManipulationBasic 1: Able to manipulate the mana around you. +1 int.
Meditation.Basic 1: Able to draw in surrounding mana. Increase mana regeneration 50% while meditating.
Now that roger had the skill, it was much easier to manipulate mana. Since he had a class that gave bonuses to intelligence and wisdom, as a level 1, he had the same int and wis that a level 7 had, because people don’t get a class until level 10. People also do not get the extra five class stat points until they get a class, which means Roger gets an extra 50 stat points to either wisdom or intelligence.
Roger continued to manipulate, expel, and absorb mana for a whole week. While he was doing this, he periodically logged off to eat. He didn’t have to sleep, because meditating also rests and organizes your mind and he can take much more mental strain than normal people, whilst his body was resting by itself.
After a week, Roger decided to stop practicing his magic to look at his stats and practice his skills.

Now that Roger had more mana, control, and mana regen, he decided to go outside and grind his skills. Now that he had enough mana, he could afford the cost of his spells in combat.
LLLLLLLLLIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNEEEEEEEEBBBBBBRRRREEEEEAAAAAAKKKKKKK
Roger stepped outside of the city for the first time with his de-leveled character. Well, not counting the spawn he had. He was still kind of mad about that.
Roger decided to devote the day to grinding his combat skills. He still had his skills at level 1, which decreased or increased time flow by 5%. In real battles, this would be nowhere near enough. So, he set off to go bully bunnies, foxes, and other small woodland creatures.
The way Roger was going to train his skills was to agro as many bunnies as he could, and use slow down on all of them, while using speed up on himself. Slow down would level much faster than speed up, but he wouldn’t slow down slow down’s leveling speed just to make it even.
Roger cast fast forward on himself and frowned at how little it affected him. At basic 1, it really almost wasn’t worth using. At later levels, however, it’s power went up much faster than the mana cost. Coupled with time magic mastery, which he hasn’t obtained yet, and it would be one of the best spells.
Once he cast fast forward, he ran through the beginner’s field, to the forest. As he went, he heard people jeering at him.
“Poor noob, he must be level 1, going to the forest in beginner’s clothes.”
“I know, right? He must not have done any research on the game.”
He ignored all of the idiots gawking and continued on.
When he got to the edge of the forest, he stopped. Contrary to the idiot’s thinking, Roger knew everything about the starter area. The game had been out for two years, after all. He wanted to agro bunnies, from the grasslands, and the occasional fox, from the forest. He wouldn’t dare to go into the forest with the wolves and two tailed foxes at his level.
Once he got to the edge, he walked up to a bunny, and punched it. The bunny immediately bit him for 7 damage.
“Shit”, he said. “I forgot I had no physical stats.”
Immediately, he cast slow down on the bunny, and started wailing on it.
Finally, it died, dropping a bruised rabbit pelt and a single copper.
After stopping fast forward, he meditated to regain lost mana, re-casted it, and continued to agro bunnies. This time, he aggroed three or more, cast slow down on all of them, and dodged and weaved, while occasionally punching or kicking.
He tried to infuse mana into his body, but he almost died from it exploding. It seemed like he needed MUCH more intelligence for him to be able to do that.
After killing rabbits and the occasional fox for the day, Roger went back to the library to check his status messages.

He leveled up three times, and decided to save his stat points until grinding stats became too difficult.

‘Finally,’ Roger thought, ’Once I level this up the mana cost won’t be so horrific.’
Roger then checked his skills.

Roger logged off and went to sleep for the first time in 48 hours.
I wish I wasn’t a noob at writing. BTW, linebreak
Roger, after a good night’s(Day’s?) sleep, logged on to Immortality Online.
He then proceeded to do what he had been doing before he decided to bully small animals.
First, he sold his pelts, gaining 3 silver and 14 copper. He then bought a silver’s worth of bread. Bread is 10 copper. 100 Copper=1 silver, and 100 silver=1 gold. He bought ten bread to restore his dwindling supply, paid the librarian for another private room, sat down, and started to meditate.
Like this, two weeks passed. Every once in a while, The time mage logged off to eat, sleep, take a shower, and use the bathroom. Once he was done meditating, his stats and skills looked like this.

With these stats, Roger felt ready to try to make an offensive spell.
LLLLLIIIIIIIIIIINNNEEEEEEEEEEEBBBBRRRRREEAAAKKK
Roger started meditating. He pushed almost all of his mana out, as well as the amount that was coming from regeneration. He delved deep, and grasped the flow of time, with every particle of air saturated with mana. He slowly, steadily, dragged all of the flowing condensed time energy to his hand, and compacted it into a ball. It was gold, translucent and opaque at the same time. It looked like, well, a ball of wibbly wobbly timey wimey… stuff. It felt weird, almost like it was… EATING HIS HAND!
Immediately, Roger took control of his mana and ripped the ball apart, trying to destroy it before it killed him.
