Lisa POV

“Okay, now that he’s taking a bath tell me why you wanted me to pick him up?” The mage said.

“I wanted him picked up because he was Roy’s friend and he was the other one that I wanted trained. It was to protect Roy but now it’s to let him survive in place of Roy, hopefully he can live because it’s what Roy would want. Is that fine with you Zane?” I replied.

“Suppose that’s fine but his talent doesn’t seem like much. Less than Roy’s talent that you told me, probably B Rank at best. It will take a lot to train him, think he will have the willpower to do it?” Zane remarked.

“I know, haaa it’s such a shame about Roy he had such potential to be a great mage would have been A Rank at the least. I had even thought he might have made it to S Rank.” I said in response to Zane. “Reminded me of him.”

“Really of him?” Asked Zane. Hold on we will have to finish this conversation later.”

I turn my head and see the young boy ‘Rat’, as he calls himself. He’s clean and wearing the plain clothes I had left out for him. I can see he is light skinned and has a light brown hair to his shoulders, most likely can’t cut it.

“Come sit over here boy.” I tell him.

‘Rat’ POV

Almost immediately after I exit the room with the tub of water the lady tells me to come sit on her couch. As I walk over to sit I look around the room and see a fireplace and some fancy looking paintings on the walls with two other doors beside the one I came in through. Sitting down knowing I can’t outrun the man to escape since he beat ‘Mr. Big’s’ goon and ‘Mr. Big’ himself.

Looking at the lady I say, “Miss me don know wha me can do fo ya, bu me no good ah anhing.” Afraid of what she wants from himself.

“Well my name is Lisa Carlton but you can call me Miss Lisa, and this man here’s name is Zane Malfus just call him Zane.” Lisa tells ‘Rat’.

“Lisa ah don know wha ya wan from me so wha’s it?” Asked ‘Rat’.

“I told you to call me Miss Lisa, Okay?” Says Miss Lisa in an overly sweet tone.

“Ah did Lisa.” I replied.

Right after that Lisa flicked ‘Rat’ in the head “I said M-i-s-s L-i-s-a.” She take a breath and continues saying “Not Lisa. Now boy don’t forget the Miss part again.”

Zane lightly shaking his head asks ‘Rat’ “Do you know how to read?” ‘Rat’ shakes his head no while rubbing his forehead. “Do you know what an adventurer or even a mage is? Rankings?”

“No Mr. Zane ah don kno bu me does kno tha some strong people’s come ta town and some’s strongah ten otheahs. Thas all ah knows. Bout wha ya asked.” Replies ‘Rat’ thinking he will get hurt again because the flick had really hurt.

Zane says in a displeased tone. “Don't call me Mr. just Zane is fine, now since you don't know what an adventurer is they are people that explore and take on tasks for others. Ranks are how good or strong someone is. A mage is someone that uses magic like the ‘Fireball’ from before. Understand?”

“Ah think so, bu wha do ya wan from me an ell me this?” I asked Zane.

“He told you this because we were gonna teach Roy or ‘Blondie’ as you knew him, this but he asked for you and we thought it would be good to teach you to help him as well. Now there are seven Ranks F,E,D,C,B,A,S and Roy had at least an A Rank talent and we were gonna train both of you since he reminded me of the past. I’m a retired Rank B same as Zane here. You’re lucky that we are even gonna teach you still since Roy died.” Answered Miss Lisa.

“Ah was fine on me own befo, ah can do fine again on me own.” Says ‘Rat’.

“Look at that the boy thinks he was doing fine and doesn’t know anything about the world or how to even read his status doubt we should even teach him. Even if you want to doubt he would listen, unless no you wouldn’t.” Said Zane to Miss Lisa.
