IS IT A TRAP?
As 'Rat' runs away from the scene he wonders why he was able to escape but can't figure it out he has never seen some one just stop like that. Shaking his head because he has to get some where safe but his hideout is no good looking around for some where he can hide 'Rat' rounds a corner and trips into something. Looking up at what it is he sees a lady with long light brown hair and eyes that are a mix between grown and green a bit homely looking but over all not to harsh on the eyes. As he looks up at her he see she's holding a basket that he has seen other women use to hold food that they got from the market.
"Oh my!" she exclaimed. "Look where your going boy." With a slightly disapproving look towards him. She is surprised by his eyes that are a mix of blue and green and that he looks beat up and has blood on him she asks him with a stern voice "What happened to you boy?". Seeing his scared look she feels bad and remembers about the blond haired blue eyed Roy and what he had told her about his friend. He runs away at a fast speed and disappears down a small and dark alley way.
'Rat' gets scared from the woman because she scolded him and as soon as he sees her get slightly distracted he runs away thinking it's his chance to escape. He sees a small alley that he knows to be to small for adults but not other kids about his age and size so its a little safer just hoping he doesn't run into the others because they will hit him. Finding the small spot he can sleep and hid in he moves to go into it but gets pushed down hearing laughter from the slightly older and bigger street kids. "Why ina rush rat boy. Doncha know this our spot an ya gotta pay up? If'n ya can or we's gon beat ya more. Ight boys." the leader of the other boys says without any breaks. Looking up at them 'Rat' knows he's going to be beat again but he knows he can't fight back or say anything or it will be worse so he just closes his eyes and curls into a ball.
The older boys kick him all over and sneer at him that he's weak and pathetic while they gang up on him. After beating him they walk away laughing and pushing each other around in a friendly manner. 'Rat waits till he can't hear them then crawls into the small alcove and passes out. Waking up a few times due to the cold night and pain in his body he gets through the night that is like so many others in his short life crying silently.

The next morning he hears sounds of a busy market nearby he remembers what happened the day before and starts crying when his stomach rumbles and shocks him. Thinking he needs to eat and keep going so he looks around him to make sure he's alone before pulling out some food to eat. After a short time he heads out of the alley into the market to see who he can 'Pickpocket' and what he will get and hope it's enough for 'Mr. Big' otherwise his other goon will find him and beat him more like he always remembers. Looking around stealthily for someone not paying as much attention for someone like he sees an odd sight of a man not paying any attention talking with some lady merchant he heads over.
Trying to not bump into anyone he makes his way over and just before he attempts to 'Pickpocket' he's grabbed by the lady merchant, who looks down at him and smiles then says "Hi there again boy. It's bad for business if you try things like that." Looking up at her 'Rat' thinks he's going to get turned in so he tries to get away but her grip is to strong for his small self so he tries hitting her. She looks at him and asks "Why aren't you at home learning to read and write?" 'Rat' responds "Ain't no budy care no more not sin yester wit 'Blondie' gone. NOW LET ME GO!!"
The lady asks "Who's 'Blondie' and where are your parents?"
"Ain't got no budy and 'Blondie' was me friend bu he gone now." Cries 'Rat'.
"What does this 'Blondie' look like?" The lady presses thinking there's not many with blond hair and only one kid about his age that fits. "Do you go by 'Rat'?" Thinking its worth a shot to ask.
'Rat' tenses up and says "What's it to ya lady if'n thas me or not?"
Both of them are getting odd looks form the odd man from before. The female merchant tells 'Rat' "If you were called that then I knew who 'Blondie' was and that he was going to bring his friend over. So I could teach him how to read, write and there numbers all you'd have to do is some chores at my house."
"I don believe ya lady no budy eva loo ou fo me but me an 'Blondie'." Tells 'Rat'.
"Miss Lisa, is this street rat giving you any trouble? If so me and my boys and take him away for you." City Guard
