Update 9/6/2024 (Not part of the book)

Hello! As you can see, this is not a chapter but instead an update!

Topics

•Book (of course)

•Where is the book going?

•Wait, a second series?

•What can I (the reader) expect?

The book: Chosen of Void.

The book has come a long way, and 11 chapters are out already. With that, there is a push for more words per chapter as I stick around 3k. I feel a quick explanation for why that's necessary is deserved.

When I write a chapter and release it, the chapter tends to be what I consider the first draft. Plans to go back and revise, fix up, and edit are planned for each chapter once, maybe even revised twice. In that revision, more words tend to be added than lost. I myself like big books, but there is a problem with too much detail, and I'm not a great wordsmith. That being said, I understand that roughly 3k words a week isn't a lot by any means for a book of this size, but it's also not the only reason for the smaller chapters. One of the reasons for that will be talked about below.

That talked about , the next chapter will be released next week, with Ferin's story continuing. (Sorry to readers who want to know what happens on the second dungeon floor, but the name can give a hint.)

Where is the book going:

How long will Chosen of Void be?

Will there be any more cake?

T2 (Tome 2, COV) has no plans of stopping or slowing down in its production or release of chapters on RoyalRoad (if you don't include updates as missed chapters, sorry bout that.)

Plans for COV's length will be about the same as TNB (The New Bond), with more of an emphasis on what's going on with the world (Realm) and Aster/Umbra's growth and adventure into the Realm Event, as well as what happens after. Lots of twists and turns are abundant in my plans. Secrets and questions of plenty will be revealed and answered, with more being asked.

The narrative has been taken without permission. Report any sightings.

And yes, there will be more cake.

A second series? What!? :

Surprise and not so big a surprise between work, RR, and other things, I've made time to start working on a second book. After (and I'm not making this number up) 74k worth of words written and thrown out, I've settled on a new series and have the first few chapters finished up (unnamed).

What is the book about, and is it LitRPG? The two biggest questions.

I'll answer the second first, and no, the book will not be a LitRPG. The reason? I feel like if I were working on two LitRpgs at the same time, I'd mix up the stats, sheets, names, story, lore, and everything under the realm easily. I know RR is big on LitRPGs, so I don't expect a lot of attention when it comes to this book, but at least it'll be out there.

What is the book about? My goal with this book is to try and dive into a new field while sticking to fantasy and what I know and so very much love: dragons. I know this won't be to a lot of my reader's enjoyment, or maybe you will hopefully enjoy it, but that field? Light romance. Don't get the wrong idea. I LOVE action and adventure, and this book will have no end of both, so don't throw in your towels just yet.

This book is about a dragon shifter (a human that can turn into a dragon) named Lillian, or Lily as she prefers, as she finds the remains of a shipwreck and even more valuable cargo inside on the edge of her island. And while she might have a complicated past, she's sure to get an even more complex future as a ship of the Arlowis Empire arrives not soon after. (Vague, right?)

Well, what can you (the reader) expect?:

Well, first, I want to say YEAH! TNB is officially a year old, and even if not fully complete, it's getting there.

Second, thanks to the almost 500 of you crazy people who actually follow The Era of War series. If you haven't yet, I'd encourage you to leave a review if you've finished the first book, as it helps quite a bit.

As stated before, there will not be a stop or slowing down of at least one chapter a week for COV, but there will be a new series hitting RR soon, and if it's not to your taste, you can ignore it to no downside!

Revisions for TNB are on the way for the second and third chapters within the next two weeks (Hopefully), as well more revisions will soon be along.

Comments are always read, even if I don't respond immediately to corrections. I love it when you find an error in my spelling. It helps me to make the book better by leaps and bounds.

And that's about it. Thanks for taking the time to read this and the book. It means quite a bit to me to know that it's received well.

You can also think of the comment section of this Update as a small QNA, so feel free to ask any questions, and I'd be more than happy to answer.
