*Sigh* “Count on it I said. What was I thinking?” Brian complained to himself.
Instead of playing the game fight monsters and what not he was stuck in the real world at the library again reading about carpentry. It seemed like an easy quest at the time, but sometimes the game was too realistic. Apparently if he wanted to repair a building he had to actually learn how to repair a building.
“You again.”
“Oh hey Mackenzie. We meet again.”
“Still looking up weapons?”
“No, I’m done with that. Now I’m learning carpentry.”
“Carpentry? What do you need that for?”
“It’s for the game. I need to fix up a run down old building.”
“You choose a crafting class?”
“No.”
“It’s kind of weird to need carpentry for a quest if it isn’t your class. Anyways, wouldn’t it be better to just hire someone else to do?”
“They all wanted too much money. Five gold for repairing a building, ridiculous.” If he had that he could buy the skill straight up instead of having to work as cheap labor.
“That is pretty steep. I’ve heard about small houses being built for twenty five.”
“So what are you doing here?”
“Studying. Midterms are coming up you know. “
“I see.”
“You should probably be studying yourself you know.”
“Maybe latter.”
*sigh* “You’re hopeless” She said and walked off.
“What a bother.” He thought then got back to work.

Skylar laboriously sawed through a board.
“Why doesn’t this game have any power tools? You know a chainsaw would be pretty awesome... for justice.”
When he got done he tried to fit it into the floor where a rotten board used to be.
“A little too long.” *Sigh* How did that keep happening even when he measured? Well if at first you don’t succeed…
He started cutting an extra half inch of the board. When he got done it worked perfectly.
“Now we’re talking. Twenty down... hundreds more to go… Sigh.”
After he nailed it down.
Woodworking skill has been acquired.
Repair skill has been acquired.
Now I’m finally getting somewhere.

One week game time later he finished painting the store.
Taking a few steps back he admired his work. It wasn’t perfect, but it was pretty good for his first renovation.
“The letters on the sign are slightly crooked. Do it over again.” Said the creepy store owner who had at some point come up behind him.
“You…”
“Ha ha ha... just kidding. You did well enough. Here is your reward”

Finally he was done. Hopefully he would never see this old building and its creepy owner ever again.
“No problem, and here is something a little extra from me.”
Received battered old sword.
“You seem a bit strapped for cash so…”
“Thanks.” He said again. This time really meaning it.
“No problem. It’s a piece of junk. Probably would have thrown it away anyways. Have fun out adventuring.”
“Annoying old man” he thought to himself then checked its stats.
Battered Old Sword.
Damage: 4-14
Durability: 18/25
This sword looks like it was once pretty good. Unfortunately those days are long since passed.
“Not bad. At least better than anything else I could afford right now.” Skylar turned around to thank the old man again, but found him gone.
“Come to think of it I never even asked him his name.”
Skylar walked towards the edge to town eager to get back to fighting. He used the skill book and checked his stats on the way.

“Not bad. Now let’s try out my new skills”
He skipped the smaller critters. No more bunnies for him. Instead he went to the area that had wolves.
When he found one the first thing he did was activate “sword of darkness”. Immediately a dark flame encompassed his sword.
“Impressive. Visually at least.”
The wolf growled and leaped at him. He deftly sidestepped and slashed it. It fell to the ground dead after the first hit.
“At bit anticlimactic” he thought, but it was understandable. He had put all his points into intelligence. Because of sword of justice eighty percent of that now counted as strength when determining damage done with a sword. Add to that the bonus points in strength he got while training and the skill sword of darkness which also did damage based on intelligence, all together meant he had a pretty powerful attack for his level. His hp was pathetic, and his agility wasn’t much better, but at least he had a good attack.
He resurrected the wolf and started walking towards the area with strong monsters. He killed a few more wolves along the way to the reach the area with level 35 kobolds. It looked kind of like a humanoid dog slash lizard gripping a crude spear. As soon as it saw him it started growling menacingly.
This time he sent the undead wolves in first. A few hits from that and he would be dead. There was no reason to take the risk.
The wolves had it surrounded, but they wouldn’t last long. The level difference was too much and they weren’t numerous enough to make up for it.
It didn’t matter. He created a gap in the wolves formation, activated sword of darkness, and attacked the kobold’s back. It screeched and turned towards him, but he had already filled the gap back in. He moved to the other side and did it again then again occasionally re-resurrecting wolves as needed. Before long the kobold was dead.
“Looks like the new strategy is going to work after all.” He thought to himself while resurrecting the dead kobold.
He went on from there occasionally encountering kobolds. When they were alone it was pretty easy, but when they were in groups it was much more challenging. He had to use the skill parry a few times and he still almost died once or twice.
It was worth the risk. His progress was much faster than last time. Before long he had enough of an army that he didn’t need to fear groups of kobolds anymore. Instead he focused on refining his strategy. The key was creating empty spaces inside the undead army formation that he could use to move around, and which he also could collapse quickly to keep his enemies from being able to chase him. He tried a number of different patterns until he found the ones that worked the best for him. During that time his leadership stat increased quite a bit.
During this time he also used his death sense a lot to find wayward corpses to increase the speed he grew his army. Finally, after only a week game time, he felt he was ready to leave the beginners area again. Well almost ready. There was still one thing left to do.
He moved his army to someplace less noticeable the cordon them of with ropes and stakes. He also left some signs.
To anyone reading this
Please do not kill my undead army.
Thanks.
They were to slow for what needed to do next. Justice bunny had to come with him but he could be carried.
Soon he made his way to the edge of the beginners area at a place higher level players often cross over. Then he waited.
It didn’t take long before a group passed by. He followed them.
“Is that guy following us?”
“Looks like it. Why is he carrying a dead rabbit?”
“What a weirdo.”
*Sign* “Just hurry up and kill something so I can leave already.” Skylar thought to himself.
Soon they encountered some high level monsters. Three level 200 Ice trolls to be specific. The adventures made short work of them, looted the bodies, and left leaving the real spoils to him.
Happily he resurrected them. Monster he resurrected only had around half the level of the original, but that still left him with three 100 level monsters.
He took them back to the rest of his army.
“It’s time Justice Bunny. One more into the breach. Forward for justice!”
