I was currently walking through our shuttle. Unlike before, the lights on the ship were all on and lighting up the ship. It was at this point that we could finally take in the true level of damage the interior had.
There were lots of holes on the walls, the doors were removed, the walls within the ship had holes and large dents from a fight.
I walk down the stairs that were intact and enter the lowest floor which was the cargo.
The large bulkhead opening was tightly sealed, guarantee from Gunner since he helped close that when the outer shell plating was being replaced.
It was air tight so the air inside never leaked out and there was no damage to it thankfully so we simply closed it up and sealed it.
Inside the cargo that was 35 meters long and 13 wide were many wooden barrels. On the left were around 42 beer barrels each with a date burned onto its side showing when it was brewed and on the left was wine barrels with the same indication.
I saw dad on one of the barrels near the back as he stirred the wine. It was 6 days of stirring and testing as well a using a Hydrometer to see if it's at the correct levels before he finally seals them and leaves them to age.
Though I hate my dads strong drinks I have already grown fond of the smell of fermenting alcohol and when we start a new game and his drinks are still “weak” I don’t mind taking a sip. Just so you know the average human lifespan greatly increased since VR games appeared, as you probably already know. Playing from a young age you will naturally live 4 times longer depending the game you play because. No game actually made the time dilation different from 4 times since it would throw off the schedule of most players. That said our ID’s became rather invalid since matching our life span in real life to what we play or do through VR makes it hard to have a proper “Adult age” so the Government made a new ID that is always installed into the capsules and with a small computer chip registering how long you play you can figure out how many extra years you have.
When I was 9 I was already at adult age but to keep brats from doing many things laws were made that all kids under 12 would still be considered under age no matter how long they played. Still by 12 I had already formed my trauma of my dad’s killer beer. Truly the name Dwarf smasher isn’t for show, if any race other besides dwarves or someone with equally strong alcohol tolerance drinks it you would definitely die.
The first time I drank that in a VR game I was playing as a barbarian which is a type of human and after drink my vision turned black and I was kicked out of the game. My dad even got PK status since he served me the drink. After that he made sure to test it for poison but it was 100% a alcohol beverage. I would say that I did drink a full mug so after that day I took a tiny shots cup and had my HP reduced to 1 life.
When he tested with dwarfs is showed they had tolerance to handle the drink but even then the strongest drinkers can only handle 3 shots before they fall and I don’t mean they fall on the fourth cup. We always bet on 3 cups and when they try getting up they simply faint since they lack the willpower to do much.
I walked up to dad as he was finishing the current barrel’s stirring and putting the top back on.
“So how is the new brewery?” I asked.
“Great, it will take another 2 weeks before either Beer or wine is ready to sell at its lowest price.” He said.
“You make how many barrels per batch?” I asked.
“Three, why?” He asked.
“The elf invested 7 thousand for a wine that cost 800-1200 credits so even 10 liter barrel will be more than enough to pay him back especially since this one aged in a properly cooled place. The price should even double or triple.” I said.
“Nah, at best only double. Still I will give him a full 20 liter as a form of buying the “partnership” of my drinks.” He said.
I understood, he invested so he had some rights but buying that off a high grade beverage could work. Considering how much this stuff will go for after being greatly approved by two good drinkers it will rack in a nice sum. Shame we don’t have the money to keep making more. Dad was able to make 14 batches of three barrels per batch.
It’s not a bad number for an upstart and I doubt he will be able to make more until the end of the month. Still a batch of beer and wine per day sure is something to be impressed about. In total 7 batches each drink and the final batch only has a few more days before it can go into the resting period while the beer already went through the primary fermentation and has begun the secondary which it will stay for another few weeks before it is done and needs to age.
“If you're wondering, it will take another month or two for the beer to be ready to sell while the wine I will be able to change the container tomorrow to a container with less dead yeast. Will need to watch them for some days to since I’m still not sure how long this yeast I’m using will last. First batch is still experimenting with a bit large quantity and the second batch is with less. The rest all have variating recipes each following the same principle.” Dad said.
“How long until you don’t need to watch the wine and can go fight?” I asked.
“When I can get all the barrels into the aging phase where I don’t need 24/7 monitoring.” He replied.
I already knew he would say that but it’s a bit annoying since brewing needed most of the focus of the brewer. Especially in these realistic games. In fantasy games the brewing went quickly because even during manual brewing the system had its finger in it and aided in speeding up the process and all that.
“So what are you doing at the moment?” He asked me.
“I came to see how the ship looked with the lights on. I also wanted to get the layout drawn out in my head so that I can more or less plan for later.” I said.
“Plan for what?” He asked.
“The second floor cargo, I will convert it into a workshop as well as a docking bay for my robot. I need a location to repair and work on it and it’s the most convenient location because it's wide and open as well as having its own opening to the outside so I can use that as an entrance when we can finally purchase a new energy shield generator for when we open the bulk doors without letting the air leak.” I said.
“Ah I see. Do you already know what we will be repairing next?” He asked.
“Let’s see.” I say and have Lia pull up a list of required systems by order of priority.
List of Required Systems
Pilots seat - 4600
Communication Device - 4,000
Better Power Generator - 15,000 for next model when compared to the one you have.
Male Bedroom - 300
Female Bedroom - 500
Male/Female/Trap Bathroom (shower and toilet) - 1,000
Plumbing - 2,000
Kitchen - 3,000
Water Storage Tank - 7,000
Oxygen Storage Tank - 12,000
Shield Generator - 90,000
Medical Room - 22,000
Sensor/Scanner - 17,000
Core Ship Computer system - 30,000
Inertia Buffer - 20,000
Gravity Generator - 500,000
I showed dad the list and he skimmed over it but when he stopped I knew he was looking at the last entry.
“Why is there a “trap” Bedroom.” He suddenly said making me facepalm myself. “Hehehe just joking, anyway what the hell is up with the Gravity Generator’s price?” He asked.
“I asked Gunner that question and the response is that they are complex tech since you literally create a gravity field. We are in a shuttle class ship which is used to enter planets. Small ships are still used to enter the planets but medium sized ships aren’t and are made with shapes that aren’t fit to fly through air. That is because the ships are made to use Centrifugal force like the stations. Only if the design is like a flat and there is no rotation will it be used.” I explain.
“I see, even now it’s a complex tech huh. Then why is the Inertia Buffer also down at less important.” He asked.
“Well I am still making the list, also inertia only affects us during acceleration and if we are moving around a lot so during space travel where its linear we won’t need it. Well unless we need to fight.” I said.
“Well I guess it will have to do. We will need to make proper shelves for my drinks though but since the ship isn’t gonna move anytime soon it’s alright. So what are you currently doing?” He asked.
“Well after I mined a bit with Alex and got some money to pay the docking tax and get Jessica her durability upgrade I started physical trying. It took me some days but I finally got the skills and stats I wanted.” I said.
I open it up and show him.

Oh so you finally go some exercise huh, how much does that help in the robot?” He asked.
“There is no comparing I still need to train my agility better but at the moment I have gotten better at moving since there isn’t much obstruction. To bad we don’t have much money since the Psionic Nerves are expensive. I need some to build weapons for the robot.” I said.
“When I start selling we will have more than enough, with 40%% going to get more materials, 40% will probably go into the ship's repairs and 20% will be for crew investment.” He said.
“I guess I should head back, I still want to get some more training before I go mine again with Alex. She has gotten really good with the ships mining tools.” I tell him.
“So he has been a good companion huh, just don’t go forgetting about the other crewmates.” He says.
“Aren’t you the one forgetting about someone since you're sticking your nose in your barrels.” I tell him but he seems a bit confused making me roll my eyes. “I’ll be going.” I tell him and he waves goodbye.
I climb upstairs and reaching the second floor air lock and putting on my helmet before pressing a small red button on the inside of the air lock that electronically sealed the door of the air lock. It caused a small fluctuation in the lights before sealing and the life support system began to drain the air from the airlock until there wasn’t a bit left.
Finally a green light lit up saying I can open the outer door and pressing a similar button on the outer door it opened up slowly.
I grab the corner of the door on the inside and let by body float around the door after the magnet boots were off. I then activated them again and attached them to the exterior plate and looked down next to the door where another button on the outside was placed.
I press it and the door seals.
I watch the door close completely before jumping over to the piers and going inside before heading to the training rooms to train my stats more.
1 month later
The last month has been more or less eventful.
First off, after dad didn't need to constantly take care of the alcohol he and I took some missions to bandit killing planetside.
When that happened I stopped mining with Alex to go grind with my dad.
At the moment I am level 16 and dad is 19. The bandits aren't that hard since we use strategy like throwing bombs. Not to mention I also got a weapon for my robot.
It took a long while of mining but after the crew had gathered enough to upgrade the two androids with the basic foundation upgrades I went and purchased some psionic tech nerve and psidium embedded steel. I then built a psi tech hilt and had the steel shaped into a sword shape before attaching the two.
The reason I did this is because of a reasoning me and dad argued about.
I had wanted to become a close range fighter but dad said for me to think of the future. As a Dwarf fighter I am a target for enemy who know the danger. Being just a close range fighter isn't ideal. He suggested for me to make at least mid ranged weapons to support me or try for explosives. This would help with crowd control and the explosives can be used to at least stun if not destroy heavier units.
Because of this I went and learned from colonel how to make my shotguns into Psionic weapons.
Converting a gun since hard. Both shotgun and sword I have would be considered a kinetic-psi weapon. Both needed to be embedded with psi to attack. The shotgun goes a bit beyond and can activate a spell like elves do but it is fixed.
The psi pushed into the bullets are set to detonate on impact after it leaves the barrel. Shotguns being a spread shot made it end up causing heavy damage but the blast radius isn't exactly large.
For dad he upgraded his gear with money we got and now has better armor that possesses a weak energy shield that can block laser shots.
His laser axe has also been upgraded to plasma but it comes with more expense to charge but since our missions aren't hard we tend to have enough.
Besides us, alex grouped up with Jessica for space hunting. They take missions to patrol the area and kill bandit. Alex finally reached level ten a few weeks back from using the station ships front laser he got the class Combat Pilot which improves his flight control and aim as well as boosts skill growth for piloting skills and ship gun shooting.
Hilda and Lisa were together most of the time. Lisa went on to do a large number of nurse missions and Hilda was her guard as well as doing a mission as part of the fighters. It was mainly similar missions that me and dad did but we decided to split up into three groups of two since we can earn more that way.
The crew's current stats after all the training we did together and upgrades done to the androids look like this.

First off, the numbers in parentheses are actually the allotted stat points that we gained from leveling.
With that out of the way I will go to the “weakest” of the crew first which is our resident trap whose gender remains a mystery.
I really have no idea how I should feel about the hacking skill but I guess it can be handy someday. Anyway her stats are… okay they are rather pathetic except for dexterity. The speed that she moves her hands on the keyboard and when she flies a space craft is rather frightening. I think if she trained crafting skills she would out do even me but I guess quality will still be better for me because of the dwarves natural ability.
The android duo have both gotten upgrades for the hardware in their head and the second durability upgrade. They have to now upgrade into specialized classes but as you can tell by their lack of upgrades and stats to show for it that the specialized upgrades are expensive. To tell the truth it's just as expensive as several repairs we need for the ship.
For Lisa’s stats, I can only wonder why I don’t have Telekinesis but I think she mentioned something about it having attack potential. It would translate to star wars stunts. Just so you know, we filmed and posted her choking the native monsters when we were fighting at the volcano a month ago and it went viral. We had her test a few things that worked with it and it all centered around telekinesis skill. Since it was a basic skill it was easy for her to obtain and train it.
None of the classes came as a surprise really. They all have similar effects of giving a boost to skill growth of a specific type.
What else… right ship repairs. The list below is all the things we repaired and upgraded until now and below that is stuff we still need.

I will go off and say that the Ship’s Core Computer system made us sweat blood and tears to reach that sum when we decided to get it after the interior and pilots cockpit was repaired.
It was at that moment we had taken up the two person party system to do missions and gain money at a more rapid pace. This resulted in us also gaining fame for the number of missions we succeed in. Lisa was first place because she is a healer and missions she did specializes in that field and in turn made her gain fame for her healing skill. Me being #2 is 100% because me and dad did only dwarf fighter missions I could access and do with a team. The others had other range of success depending on each of their jobs but for the most part it didn’t go up as much.
I guess that covers the month and changes to our little crew.
Like I said it’s been a month and at this time our crew is completely united at the dwarf airfield and around us are 6 barrels, three with win and 3 with beer.
“So boy’s these six barrels are the first batch of finished drinks from the small barrels I brought the first time last month. Since I don’t really know exactly where to sell these we came to see if you men were willing to take it off our hands.” Dad said like a humble seller.
The dwarves were eyeing the beer barrels while the elf that invested in our ship at the start was eyeing the barrels of wine and gulping but keeping a poker face.
“What is your price?” Colonel asked.
“Well going by the price you gentlemen said, you two graded that sample beer at 300-500 credits and the wine at 800-1000 credits per liter. We didn’t have bottles so we just came with the full barrel.” Dad replied.
“So the entire barrel of beer going between 6000 and 10,000 credit while the wine goes 16,000-20,000 each barrel.” The elf commented.
“Exactly, but we will do a discount of 30% since I still don’t feel confident in my alcohol. So with a cup for you two men to appraise my drinks we can let you men gauge 1 month aged wine and beer.” Dad said pointing at the elf and Colonel.
“30% off wine makes the price 11,200 to 14,000. That is a drastic drop.” The elf said.
“And the beer would go for 4200- 7000 credits!” Colone said.
“I will say this, since you invested in our repairs for the ship one of these barrels will automatically go to you sir as a thank you.” Dad said with a smile making the elves eyes widen and a wide smile spread on his face.
I could only sigh to myself, when it came to selling items and produce my dad was top class. His fake smile felt to real and it’s impossible to know what he is thinking while selling things though I know since I personally heard him on many occasions after we were away from a crowd as he planned things out. His plan was to sell the first and weakest batch at a lower price so that the future barrels would gain fame among the dwarves and elves so that he won’t need to do the discount and may even make an auction to sell this alcohol.
My dad is a good man but when it comes to selling his alcohol, he can be as shrewd, if not more than, the MC of Light novel with the sculptor.
Dad picks up one barrel of wine and Beer and puts it on the table with the faucet facing us and the shots cups were already waiting so he poured a cup of each drink for both men and presented it to them.
They each took the cups. The elf took it and took a wiff of the wine, a real specialist can tell the quality by smell and taste easily.
Colonel on the other hand, like you would expect a dwarf, just chugged the drink.
As they both finish their drinks they were tasting the after taste and colonel had a rather satisfied expression.
“Damn, smooth with such a strong kick. It’s even higher quality than the first small barrel.” Colonel said making all the dwarves wide eyed and then eye the barrels.
“This is quite impressive. The smell isn’t strong but the flavor is quite present and it heats up the inside yet it’s not rough like a hard drink such as a beer. I have a hard time believing you can actually be a novice.” The elf said.
“Actually…” I said interjecting. “Some weeks ago there was a discovery of a virus in the body of all foreigners and it is said that this virus is what whipped our skills we possessed from the system that registered them. When we perform the skill we retrieve it at a rapid leveling pace.” I explained.
“Aye, I heard of that, also seems to bring the dead back to life.” Someone said.
There began a large conversation about the effects that were discovered. Yeah the death penalty has been a large discussion all over the galaxy as because no one knows where it came from and why it hit every ship the players come from.
“So that was it, well too damn complicated to care, anyway I’ll buy the three barrels for 7 thousand each.” Colonel said outright without mincing words.
I forced a smile down as dad’s plan goes just as planned. Why…
“Oi Colonel, don’t try and jump the gun! We want some to!” One of the dwarves shouted.
“Huh! You think I care! This stuff is for the best! I’m keeping it stored!” He said.
Wow, never thought the brotherhood of dwarves would break because of good beer.
“Wait wait! No fighting, I can only sell 1 barrel per person since I can’t make many at the moment.” Dad said towards Colonel but the dwarf sulks but nods since it seemed rather fair.
“As for the other two...well you can all pay a part each and drink together.” Dad suggested. He really is a smooth talker, by suggesting this he doesn’t take sides to anyone and keeps the unity of the men.
They all look at each other and nod.
“As for me, I shall simply take the barrel that was promised. I am a collector of fine wines and if I let this age for decades it will surely be beyond words by then.” He said.
“I wish you luck, as for those interested in the wine, I will put the same offer on the remaining two barrels.” Dad said towards all the others interested.
As such getting max price at a 30% discount for three barrels of beer and wine we gained a sum of 21k credits from the beer and 28k credits from the wine summing up to a grand total of 49k credits.
With this we can add both oxygen and water tanks as well as the sensor/scanner to the ship. This sums up to 39k credits leaving 10k for dad to buy materials for more alcohol and since we will be selling alcohol for the next 6 days, counting today, we will get as a total for selling wine at 14k counting today's profit, wine will catch us 388k minimum, while beer will get us 201k minimum. Considering dad has a habit of auctioning his alcohol after he hooks in some suckers I think this is the minimal profit dad’s alcohol will fetch.
Still I wonder why these guys went for a high price, don’t they make good beer. I was curious so I asked.
“Why? Well dwarves are brewers but it’s almost always a contest to see who is the best and when someone who can take that title we normally want to taste it ourselves and aren’t afraid to pay above max price.” One of the dwarves said making me understand.
If you think about it, it makes sense, a dwarves best friend is his beer and his wretch, hammer in fantasy settings.
Now I understand why dwarves would go as far to get a better brewers beer. It’s more a matter of honor or honoring someone.
Elves on the other hand like the one that dad gave that barrel, he seems to be like this man and enjoy it more an aged drink on a special occasion or as a pass time.
I don’t doubt that by tomorrow the NPC will all know about dad.
As he finishes handing the barrels over and collecting the money we leave smiles as the dwarves being a party of their own while the casual drinkers take a sip of the wine.
As we reach the corridor, dad’s smile turns into an extremely wide and almost evil grin.
“Hehehe, never fails to get the suckers.” He said as he passes me the money.
I count the amount I will need for the next repairs before handing him the 10k.
“This is your investment money for this batch, the rest will go into ship repairs.” I said.
Dad counted the money with sparkling eyes.
“What about us?”Jessica asked.
“Tomorrow I’m sure dad will be auctioning his alcohol instead of simply selling it, the surplus money that surpasses the price range will be split between the crew for personal gain.” I explained.
“This is how we did it in every other game we were in a guild and it survived by me selling my alcohol.” Dad said.
“I see, the investment gets bigger and so will the income.” Alex muttered.
“Right, for now don’t tell anyone about the amount of money we are getting from this or we will have to guard the ship all the time. By the time we sell most of the wine we should have the money for the standard power generator and will be able to permanently move into the ship where we can keep everything safe constantly.” I explained.
“So we are finally getting close to getting a complete ship.” Lisa said cheerful.
“Yeah, it will take a while longer but if we focus only on basic necessity like engine, generator and thrusters we will have enough money to get those three while the rest we can work over time to fill those in.” I said.
“If that is so then let us get busy, we leave you two to take care of the alcohol and make sure to hand Noah the money Roktar.” Lisa disciplined Dad. I don’t get why dad is blind, she clearly likes him. She looks young but if you remember her curriculum she mentioned she is a Nurse Technician so it took her a few months, then she worked a few years to gather experience and money for medical college. The course for a medical doctor is 4 years so if you take into account time spent getting money with some help from parents and study time you will see that she is at least in her upper 20’s if not her 30s already. Though dad is already in his mid 40s he doesn’t look it because he exercises and has a balanced diet which lets him keep his youthfulness.
Still I wonder if it’s because his heart was broken by my mother that he turns a blind eye to women that take an interest in him. I really think Lisa would be a good match for dad because of her responsible nature while his is irresponsible.
Well, only time will tell. I shrug and chuckle as the four others head off to pick up some missions while I head to the hanger to request the next repairs. Dad heads off to go buy his loads of materials he will experiment with soon.
