“HYA!” Aiden yelled, slamming his sword into the golem. It thrashed around a few times before finally collapsing.
A few days ago they went into the adventurers guild, but none of them could agree on what mission to take. Mia wanted to help around town, Tina and Arlo wanted to hunt some monsters around the village, while Aiden wanted to level up and help free the cave nearby the village, which was taken over by some golem creatures. Jason didn’t have much of a plan so he tagged along with Aiden.
“You sure this is alright? I mean, you could go do any other mission if you want,” he said, tossing Jason the small golem.
“Nah. Plus, you got me these sick new gloves, so I might as well put them to use,” Jason replied, breaking the golem apart with a hammer. The gloves he was talking about were an item Aiden found while walking through the cave and gave him a small buff to his defense, but also a decent buff to his strength, allowing him to take apart the monsters Aiden throws at him with ease.
Jason pulled out the crystal and tossed it to Aiden, who put it into his pouch.
“Plus, disposing of these corpses via my skill gives me a lot of time to level it up. Synthesis!” Jason yelled, slapping the pile of rocks that used to be a monster. The body began to glow and got absorbed into his gloves.
“Oh yeah. Forgot you can do that. What level is your skill by the way?” he asked, raising his sword to fight another monster.
“Uh… ba du ba di ba do ba da… level 5,” Jason said after a bit of scrolling.
“Huh. That’s fast. Mine is still at level 4,” Aiden replied, breaking a rock spider in half. “Oh, what does this give you by the way?”
Jason caught the crystal rock Aiden gave him and synthesized it into his gloves. A few small glowing segments appeared around the knuckles of the gloves and he looked at the status.
[Leather Gloves]
Special Effect: Defense Up (Lvl.1), Strength Up (Lvl.4), Attack Up (Lvl.1)
“Neat! I got a small attack buff. The rest is the same though,” Jason replied, punching the golem spider. He winced and clenched his fist as the pain rushed through his arm.
“Are you-?”
“Don’t ask,” Jason grumbled, letting out a heavy sigh.
“Alright then. Let’s keep going. I wonder what made these guys leave the caves though? I mean, these guys aren’t exactly dangerous, so a random knight could probably take care of them,” Aiden wondered, looking around.
“Don’t jinx it. If you jinx it, some random golem dragon is gonna walk in here and stomp us to death,” Jason replied, tossing Aiden another crystal heart and getting rid of the monster's corpse.
“True, let’s hope I didn’t jinx us then,” Aiden awkwardly laughed, walking deeper into the mine. Aiden raised his lantern and gasped. Jason looked over his shoulder and saw several armored skeletons scattered all around the cave. Some weren’t even left in one piece. Skulls crushed, arms shattered. Aiden looked horrified at the sight and closed his eyes.
“Oh sweet, free loot!” Jason said, grabbing the swords and armor of the skeletons.
“JASON WHAT THE F*CK?!” Aiden yelled.
“What? I mean… they are already dead and it’s not like their families are gonna want their remains back. I mean, these are some dry as hell bones, so it’s been a while. And I think without hygiene people live up to like… 30? Maybe 50 in this world with magic. So they probably moved on already,” Jason replied, shoving several swords into his bag… somehow.
“But still! I mean, we got money from the king and quest money! You don’t have to wake up the dead! Haven’t you seen at least one horror movie or mummy?”
“Hm…. fair point. Counterpoint! Free sh*t,” Jason replied, pouring a skull out of a helmet.
“I don’t wanna partici-any ghost watching, I want to make something clear. I was not involved in this!” Aiden yelled into the cave,
A quiet hissing and rattling could be heard deeper up ahead.
Stolen novel; please report.
“Oh hell nah!” Jason said, grabbing two shields and a crossbow.
“Shoot, what was that?” Aiden asked, shuttering at the sound. “Jason, what are you doing now?”
Jason squatted down with two shields strapped to his legs and two to his arms. A crossbow peaked from in between the 4 shields.
“Jason isn’t here! Jason is in bunker town!” he replied, throwing mana into the crossbow. One thing they found out about weapons in this world was that in order to use a skill of a weapon, all you needed to do was pour mana into it. Tina also told them that the reason she didn’t have any arrows was that arrows with effects were expensive and heavy, however arrows made by pouring mana into the crossbow worked the same as a normal arrow. While Jason couldn’t cast spells yet, he can still pour mana into objects.
“Jason, you look ridiculous. I hate that I get the reference,” Aiden muttered as he walked deeper into the cave. Jason waddled over with his shield formation, picking up crossbows and other weapons on the way there. Aiden rolled his eyes and left Jason in the dust.
As he went deeper into the cave, more golems started spawning. Bigger stone spiders with glowing eyes and more details on their rocky armor. But with his new level ups Aiden was able to slash his way through all of them without much of a sweat.
“HISSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!”
The sound made Aiden’s blood run cold as the noise erupted behind him. He turned around and just barely blocked the attack in time, but his body was flung to the other side of the cave. He scrambled to his feet and looked at the enemy that appeared.
“Wow, you’re a big boy, aren’t you?” Aiden jokingly asked.
“And you’re tiny enough for me to swallow,” the snake replied, much to Aiden’s confusion. He opened his mouth to ask something, however the snake lunged at him and opened its stony mouth.
Aiden jumped out of the way and the snake smashed its face into the wall of the cave, shaking the whole ground. He raised his sword and stabbed the side of the snake, causing it to roar in pain. But as he tried to pull it out, the snake raised its head and with it the sword and the hero.
“That hurt!” it screamed, before slamming Aiden into a wall. He let go of the sword and fell to the ground.
That didn’t hurt as much as I thought it would. This armor is pretty good!
*CRASH*
Aiden gasped as the snake slammed its tail into his stomach, knocking the air out of his lungs.
Ok, that one hurt more. He thought, as he gasped for air.
“You are weaker than I thought you would be. I’m almost impressed you made it this far,” the snake hissed at Aiden and raised unhinged its jaw, preparing to swallow him.
*clang*
“Hm? There are more of you?” the snake said, turning towards the caves entrance.
*clang* *crack* *clang* *CLANG* *CRASH* *CLANG* *CLANG* *CRASH* *CLANG*
“-----aaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAASIKONIAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!” a scream rang out, as a huge ball made of swords, helmets, knives, shields, and other weapons barreled towards the snake.
“WHAT THE F-” it yelled, but the next second a sword pierced its head, followed by a large crunching noise. The ball of weapons crashed into the snake, shattering its body and sending pieces of it flying everywhere. The whole cave shook, and a few stalagmites crashed onto the ground.
“HOLY SH*T!” Aiden yelled, ducking for cover as the weapons shot out in all directions. The weapons continued to clash and fly around the cave until their momentum died down, and the cave fell into silence once again.
“Oh hey, I lived,” Jason mumbled, looking at the mess he created.
“JASON, WHAT THE HELL?!” Aiden yelled, digging through the massive pile of weapons.
“I uh… I made a ball of weapons,” Jason shrugged and picked up a shield.
“May I ask why?”
“Well, at first I just wanted a bunch of shields, but then it turned into a ball of shields. I thought that was it, so I started rolling towards you, but I slammed into one of the knights bags. I guess he had super glue there or something, cause weapons began to stick to this ball of weapons like crazy. And then I ended up rolling down the cave uncontrollably and grabbing something to try not to die,” Jason explained calmly, gathering the scattered weapons.
“... I see… so can we agree to never make a ball of weapons again?” Aiden questioned, walking towards the snake corpse.
“Fine. I’ll try not to. But no promises,” Jason replied, dumping the remaining weapons into his bag. He walked over to Aiden, who was prying open the neck of the snake, where small cracks have already begun to form with light leaking out of them.
“C’mon, you stubborn piece of roAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!” he yelled, as a bright light erupted from the crack he made and blasted him in the eyes. He tumbled backwards, rubbing his eyes and screaming in pain.
“You alright man? I got healing potions if you need,” Jason offered.
“I’m fine! It’ll wear off in a second. More importantly, take care of whatever is inside!” he yelled back, turning away from the snake and tripping on a rock.
“If you say so. What even is thOOOOOOOOOH MY GOD! IT’S BEAUTIFUL!!!” he screamed, as the light began to burn his rhetnas. He reached into snake’s chest/neck/body and pulled out a-
AN AUTHOR NOTE! And a plugin, lol. Shout out to this writer below. Also, sorry this chapter is a bit shorter, but apparently analytics and stuff is telling me that a bunch of shorter chapters around half the size of my current ones, but more often and consisten is better for the algorithm? So I guess I’m doing 1.5k-2k, but more often… probably… definitely… maybe?... idk.
