Money, fame, freedom, safety, and peace; every mortal has desires they would do almost anything to achieve. Almost anything but die. But, what about those that are willing to die for their desires? Slayers are more than your average mortal. They are stronger, faster...and crazier. They are willing to sacrifice everything in order to achieve what they or their master desires.
The Games is a series of events where hundreds of thousands of slayers come together to kill each other to achieve their desires.
But among these slayers is a young teen named Rokun. He has a simple desire: to obtain his memories, and gain power, a lot of power. So much power that he wouldn't need the help of others. Though, power doesn't come easy. The enemies are vicious, powerful, and most importantly, they are always one step ahead…
…But Rokun doesn't give up, not by his own choice; for his body keeps rising up again and again against his own will. Why? To obtain what he wants at the cost of his morals and values.
Check out my friends work, his stuff is pretty good. And thank you to everyone who has been enjoying this story. Onto the chapter
“What’s going on exactly?” Aiden asked Arlo, helping him off the ground.
“These three, throw them with the others,” the woman said.
Guess she’s an officer of some kind? Maybe? How does the hierarchy of police work in this world?
“Hell no! I’m not getting caught again!” one of the three yelled and tried to run away, but the knight moved so fast it looked like she teleported.
“You’re a lot slower than last time,” she smirked and karate shopped the man into the ground. He slammed head first into the dirt and sent pieces of it flying in all directions.
Damn! She’s hot AND kicks ass. Anime tropes be wild.
“Are you three ok?” she asked, turning to Arlo, Jason and Aiden. A green aura enveloped the trio and any injuries they had disappeared instantly.
“Uh yeah, thank you. Who are these guys by the way?” Arlo asked, pointing to the apprehended men.
“The Black Brigade. Just a bunch of low life bandits who decided to make a name for themselves. They grew a lot over the recent years, but we managed to find and arrest a few branches. Sorry you had to be involved,” she replied. She looked at Aiden and frowned. “You have a fancy sword, but you don’t seem to be particularly skilled in swordsmanship.”
Oh hey, is this how Aiden gets a waifu? Man is speedrunning.
“Yeah, I haven’t used a sword until around a week ago, so I’m not particularly skilled,” he replied, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly.
“Only a week? You seem to have the basics down pretty well for a beginner,” she exclaimed, smiling.
“Well, I had a good teacher at the capital,” he replied. Suddenly the knight smacked her forehead and groaned.
“I see! You wouldn’t happen to be one of the heroes, would you?” she asked, visibly frustrated.
“Yes, actually we all are. Why do you ask?” Arlo, said, walking up to Aiden.
“A week ago I received a letter to come teach one of the heroes swordsmanship, but unfortunately I was also in the middle of a mission. But I wasn’t expecting to meet you here. But where are the other 3?” the woman explained.
Ouch. I guess I don’t look like a hero though, so I can understand.
“Captain, we apprehended the rest of the brigade. Should we depart for the capital?”
“Yes, give me a moment. Anyhow, I’ll be seeing you guys around. Say hello to the others for me,” she said, disappearing behind the alleyway.
“You alright man?” Aiden asked, poking Jason’s arm.
“Yeah, I’m fine. I know I don’t exactly look like I’m a hero, but still, I thought she’d be able to tell regardless,” he muttered.
“There you two are! What trouble did you get yourselves into?!” Mia yelled, walking into the alleyway.
“It was his idea!” Jason said, pointing to Arlo.
“Hey!”
“You’re the one who said we should fight a bunch of overleveled bandits!”
“And I was right! We are heroes, so we’re supposed to help people!” Arlo fired back.
“Not when we can barely help ourselves! If it wasn’t for Aiden, we would have been screwed. And you got dog piled on, so I don’t want to hear it!”
“I managed to get a good punch in at least, while you just got slapped around!”
“I put poison in their system, so I don’t wanna hear it. And your punch did jack!”
“Alright you two, break it up,” Aiden sighed, pulling the two heroes apart. “Remember what we came for. Restock and hot springs! Plus we have a mission to do tomorrow, so don’t forget that! Now, let’s go! The hot springs await!”
----------------------------------------
“Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah. This is as relaxing as they show in anime’s,” Aiden said, lowering himself into the spring.
“Honestly I hate this! It feels like my skin is on fire!” Jason yelled, gripping the edges of the pool.
“It isn’t that bad,” Arlo said, gripping his arms.
“I honestly prefer the cold. I come from a cold af country where having enough snow a year to bury an elephant is normal.”
“Daym. You live in antarctica? That’s crazy bro,” Aiden said sarcastically.

“Close enough. Also, speaking of anime tropes, which one of you is gonna try to peek in the other side of the bath?” Jason asked, pointing to the large wall dividing the two.
“TRY IT AND I WILL BURN YOU!!!” Mia yelled from the other side, shooting a warning fireball into the sky.
“I’m kidding!” Jason yelled.
“You better be!”
“Yeah, it’s not worth it. Remember, all those guys in anime get folded for trying to do so. I don’t feel like following every anime trope on the list,” Aiden replied. They looked over at Arlo who just shook his head.
“No way. Last thing I need is sexual assault charges. I’m not risking my reputation for- TINA?! GET OFF OF THE WALL!”
Aiden and Jason looked at the dividing wall and saw Tina’s hair poking out from the top. Arlo summoned a pebble and threw it at the top of the wall, hitting her in the head.
“OW!” Tina cried out, climbing down the wall.
“Don’t peek at our side!” Arlo warned, laying back down into the bath.
“Wow, no one ever expects the reverse peeking. Also, speaking of anime tropes and such, does it feel like we’re moving a bit too fast?” Jason pondered.
“True. I mean, we already met the king, which some anime’s do from the start, got our first quest, had our first fight, met some possibly key characters,” Aiden replied.
“Yeah, we got some unnamed bandits, the name of their team, your possible future waifu,” Jason listed off. Aiden’s face turned a bit red at the waifu mention.
“Well, what about the beetle baby you and Mia made?” he fired back.
“Woah, excuse me? First, Mia had nothing to do with it, second, we are not calling the iron rhinoceros beetle a ‘beetle baby’,” Jason grumbled.
“Nope, we are calling it a beetle baby. You have no choice in the matter. If anyone is watching this on youtube as a reaction video and we are in some sort of anime then spam beetle baby in the comments or reviews!” Aiden yelled, turning to the sky.
“No! Aiden, I will synthesize your ass to a rock! Arlo! Help me out here!” Jason yelled, turning to Arlo, but he was holding a small beetle statue with a horn and the words ‘beetle baby’ crudely scribbled on the small pedestal.
“I WILL END BOTH OF YOU!!!” Jason howlered, running after the two.
----------------------------------------
“Alright. We should start by going around the mountain, and slowly making our way up,” Aiden said, looking at the map. “And let’s not split up, or at least try to not split up, as that will probably get someone killed, or lost.”
“Alright. Should we go right? Since right is always right?” Jason suggested, pointing to the right.
“Any objections?” Aiden asked, looking around the team. When everyone remained silent he turned towards the direction Jason pointed to and began to walk forward. “Right it is!”
The gang began to walk around the mountain and Aiden checked the map on almost every turn.
It was a while before they made it all around the mountain with Aiden writing something down on the map.
“Alright, nothing around the mountain. Keep your eyes peeled as we enter the possibly trapped lands,” Aiden said, walking forward. Mia looked back at the rest of the team and saw Tina shifting uncomfortably.
“Aiden, let’s make a quick stop. We’ve been walking for a while,” she said, pointing to the bushes.
“Alright. Let’s make it quick guys. I’ll try to scout up ahead so meet me there,” Aiden agreed, walking away from the group.
Jason walked around for a bit and kicked a random rock he found.
*PLOT*
“Huh?”
Jason carefully approached the sound and saw a hole in the ground with a small pool of water below.
“Huh. A cave. That could be fun to explo-,” he began, but a noise interrupted him.
*crack*
“ShiAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!”
He screamed as he plopped down into the water below.
“*GHASP* F*******CK!” he yelled, pulling himself out of the water. “Out of all the possible places on the mountains, of course I found the one hole to fall into!”
Jason groaned as he lifted himself off of the ground. He looked around the cave and saw several crystals light up with a dim purple and blue light.
“Come closer,” a gentle whisper called out to him.
“Oh god, the brain damage is already settling in. I’m hearing voices!” Jason panicked. He gripped around his head to see if he was bleeding.
“Oh brave warrior of-“
“OH GOOD GOD IT’S GETTING WORSE!!!” Jason yelled, dumping a healing potion on his head.
“Please, it is not an illusion,” the voice from the cave replied. “Brave warrio-“
“Jason.”
“Jason. Please, come forward. I want to help you on your journey for making it this far,” the voice called out, with a slight hint of irritation in its voice.
Jason began to walk down the dimly lit cave until the small crystals became large chunks, and the blue glow completely disappeared, replaced by a dark purple light. A large crystal sat in the middle of the cave, surrounded by the rest.
“Touch the crystal, Jason. It will grant you the power to protect those you love, and slay those who wronged you,” the voice whispered. Jason raised his hand to touch the stone, and then flipped it off.
“This is gonna throw a demon into my body, ain't it? Look, I read too much magna, manhua, manhwa and whatever other thing you wanna call it. I know how this goes.”
“Damn you! What gave it away?!” a flaming silhouette asked, appearing in the giant crystal.
“Oh, nothing. You played your cards well. Well, except for the part where you offered a ton of power for free. That was suspicious. Oh, and when you said the thing about protecting loved ones and slaying enemies. That was sus as well.”
“Sus?”
“And don’t even get me started on the decor. Like, you have a cave with crystals in such a pattern that it looks like a skull will eat me as soon as I touch this stone. Like, are people actually dumb enough to fall for this kind of stuff?”
“Well…”
“And just overall the creepy vibe. Wait, no, humans are kinda dumb. Girls fall for murderers, and dudes will do whatever the hell for a hot chick. Yeah… never mind. I guess I’m just to dumb and lazy to fall for it.” Jason said, turning towards the little crystals.
“Aw, c’mon! Touch the crystal! It won’t kill you!”
“No!”
“Just a little touch?”
“NOOOOOO!!!” Jason shrieked, making the demon back up for a second.
“C’mon! I have been stuck here for like months! Let me get some vodka or something!” the creature yelled, banging on the crystal wall.
“I wouldn’t touch your crystal with a 10 inch stick,” Jason replied, picking up a long crystal.
“Damn it. Wh-.”
“I will with an 11 inch tho! Synthesize!” he yelled, poking the large crystal and raising his necklace.
[Synthesize Successful]
[Hero Necklace has gained a new ability]
“Yas! New stuff!” Jason exclaimed, looking over the status. But suddenly a weird shadow appeared in his status.
“Huh? But you’re holding my crystal! HOW ARE YOU NOT POSSESSED?!” the demon yelled, banding his hands onto the status screen.
“Well, you see, idiots are hard to control. And I am braindead!” Jason yelled, poking the necklace and laughing. The demon tilted his head in confusion.
“I’m not sure if that’s a good thing,” the demon said, with a hint of concern in his eyes.
“Well, anyways, I’ma just going now. The cave is all out of crystals, and I need to find the other guys. They are probably concerned as to where their cook has gone off to,” he said, making his way out of the cave.
He sighed as the fresh air of the forest hit him again, and the cool breeze blew away any hints of sweat. He began to walk around, trying to find the other heroes, but to his surprise, no one answered his calls. Then he noticed the smoke of a campfire up ahead.
Huh. Guess they already started cooking without me.
He slowly began to make his way to the campsite, when he heard a voice behind him.
“Watch out!”
“Huh?”
“Hey! I found another one!” Jason heard someone say to his left. He tried to turn to see who made the noise, but suddenly a searing pain appeared in his head, and his vision began to darken.
What the hell? What… was…….
With his last thought, he collapsed onto the ground, unconscious.
