“Well, I did it guys. I finally touched grass!” Jason shouted, pointing his phone camera at the grass. He heard some of his friends laugh as Jason poked the tall green blades. “It only took a year or two.”
“Eyyy, Jason boi finally living. Welcome to the touch grass club,” one of his friends yelled, while some others continued to laugh.
“Welp, who’s up for a game of Amogious?” Jason asked, turning away from the grass field and stepping onto the road to his car.
Suddenly, a noise made him turn his head. And despite it being the middle of the day, he was blinded by a bright light coming from a truck.
“What the fu-.”
----------------------------------------
“-ck?! Where did it come from!” Jason yelled. But then he realized that the lights disappeared.
“-astard!” a scream came from behind him. Jason tried to peer into the darkness and waited for his eyes to adjust. Slowly but surely he made out four fading circles with people sitting on them.
“What happened? Where are we?” a guy, just a bit taller than Jason asked, turning around. He saw several people with staves staring at them.
“It worked!” one of them exclaimed, and they all let out a sigh of relief.
“Truck kun… summoning. Oh my god, we got isekaid,” one of the guys exclaimed.
“Oh f*ck! Are we supposed to be a team?” Jason realized.
“Indeed. We summoned you heroes because we are facing a grave threat, and we require your help!” they replied.
“Oh god, we’re screwed,” Jason said. “Sorry guys, I am not competent enough for this sh*t.”
“P-please don’t say that! You’re our only hope heroes!” the men said in desperation. “We don’t have the resources to summon new heroes yet!”
“What about a way back? Can you return us to our world?” another guy asked.
“We do not have a way of returning you unfortunately. But we do know that previous heroes had the choice to return once they defeated the demon ruler,” a man explained.
“Huh, it’s like a typical isekai adventure then,” one of the two women mumbled. The other continued to look around, confused at the whole thing.
Well, let’s hope I don’t get an important role then, cause otherwise this whole team is probably gonna die.
Jason shuddered at the thought, but then again, maybe this was a fever dream. Either in his last moments of his life his brain decided to use escapism, or he was in a hospital with brain damage.
Oh well. Might as well have some casual fun while I’m at it.
“Alright then. Let’s say we agree to help you guys out. How are you willing to support us? I hope you’re not just hoping to throw us at the problem and have us do all the work,” the second man said, walking up to the robed men.
“Of course not. We will give you the items, weapons, and any power we can that was left to us by previous heroes. Please meet the king so that he can explain the situation,” the man at the front explained.
“Alright, bet. Let’s see what's up with the world,” Jason said, walking up ahead.
The other two men helped the women up and they all followed the mages through a dimly lit hallway. The mages whispered amongst themselves and looked at the heroes. Jason walked up ahead at a fast pace and had to stop several times to wait for everyone else to catch up.
“Please have patience, hero. Everything will be explained soon.”
Jason sighed and followed along, hoping for some answers
----------------------------------------
“Your Majesty! The ritual was a success!” one of the summoners yelled as he walked into the room. A surprised look overcame the king and several people gathered next to him. He looked over the 5 people summoned and smiled.
“I see. Please, have a seat heroes. I will explain the situation,” the old man dressed in a golden and gem decorated robe said. His crown changed from a dark gray, to a light gold color as the heroes approached. They were all seated down and the king gestured to a servant to bring him a map and a crystal.
The map began to glow, and colors began to fill in certain areas.
“I understand you all want to know why I summoned you, so I will get straight to the point. This is currently our country,” he pointed to a certain area of the map and Jason watched it slowly become engulfed in flames. The map itself didn’t seem to be injured, but the area on the map was burned. That’s when Jason noticed that there were mini carriages moving on the map, and even the water was animated.
Holy sh*t! This is so detailed! I want one now!
“A few days ago a powerful demon descended and spawned several monsters to fight us. Unfortunately, we didn’t have heroes at that time to save us, and instead we tried to take care of it on our own. We lost a lot of good men that day,” he said, closing his eyes for a moment.
“Fortunately, after a few minutes all the monsters started to burn and disappeared, but the land took substantial damage. A large timer was placed above our castle and it is said to tell the time until that person comes back. That is where you come in.”
“You think we can stop this if your best soldiers couldn’t?” Jason said, earning a punch from the woman sitting next to him.
“What? I’m being realistic. I’m summoned to fight a war with no experience or strength, yet I’m expected to fight against enemies that crush knights with ease!”
She wanted to reply, but the king interrupted them.
“Do not worry. It is said in the legends that heroes have skills that let them power up way beyond the power of even the best knights. You will be taken to the hero stone very soon,” he said, sliding the glowing crystal towards them. “For now, let us check your affinities and roles. One at a time please. And introduce yourselves.”
He looked at the heroes expectedly, as if they were supposed to know what to do. The first man grabbed the crystal and everyone watched as the stone began to glow brighter. It burst into flames and the mages looked upon it in amazement.
“Incredible! Such strong affinity for fire magic!”
“Sick! My name is Aiden by the way, nice to meet you all,” he said, tossing the stone to the second guy. The flames dissipated and spikes appeared on the crystal, phasing through the hands of the man.
“Earth affinity! Very well, very well!” the king said, the smile on his face growing wider and the crown glowing brighter.
“Arlo. Hope we can work together from now on,” he said, pushing it towards the second woman. The crystal began to float and a small tornado was born on top of it.
“Tina, and I guess I have a wind affinity. Looking forward to working with you!” she replied with a tense smile.
Next up was Jason. He grabbed the rock and it grew in size and glowed a pure white.
“I have… something. I’m Jason, and I would advise you not to count on me too much,” Jason said, turning to his teammates.

“Do not worry, that is support magic. You will be able to buff others in combat,” the king said, turning to Jason
Oh god, I’M the support? Well sh*t! Rest in pieces suicide squad.
The last woman besides Jason took the stone impatiently, and suddenly it began to shine brightly. Fire, spikes, water, wind, and every other ability suddenly began to spray from the stone.
“Amazing! The all powerful mage has descended upon us!” the king yelled. Everyone looked at the woman in shock and amazement.
“Tell us your name, oh hero of magic!” the king said, his eyes sparkling.
“M-Mia,” she sputtered out.
“Mia, Jason, Tina, Arlo, Aiden, correct?” he asked, turning to each of the heroes. They nodded, still covering their eyes from the glowing crystal. Mia let it go and the shine has completely disappeared.
“Very well, please follow me,” he said, pressing a button on the throne. The throne moved to the side and revealed a hallway.
Ok, this is going at a way faster rate. Which one of us is skipping the intro?
Behind it was a growing orb, embedded into some kind of shield.
“Please put your hand on the core. It was left behind by previous heroes and help awaken your first skill that will help you on your journey,” the king said.
All five of them put their hands on the core and watched it glow.
[You have obtained a new skill: Synthesis (Level 1)]
“Now, check your statuses,” the king said, turning towards the heroes.
“Tank?” Arlo muttered, staring off into the distance.
“Swordsman! We’re at level one though. That sucks,” Aiden mumbled. Jason thought about seeing his status and saw a screen appear before him.
[Jason
Class: Support Mage
Level: 1
Skills: Synthesis (Level 1)]
Ok then, that’s something. Wait, what the hell is synthesis?!
“Now then, since you have your classes now, please choose a weapon you need. These are made by last heroes and were made to help future heroes,” the king explained, dropping exposition after exposition.
Ok, when do we get to rest? Anytime now!
“This is happening extremely fast. Can we slow down a bit, guys?” Mia pleaded, looking around at the rest of the heroes.
“Do not worry, this is the last thing we have for today. After that, we will let you all rest and then give you each a private room,” the king replied, opening a door.
Inside were a bunch of glowing white and golden weapons that gave off a weird feeling when Jason approached them. While Jason looked over everything in the room, Aiden picked up a sword and gave it a practice swing.
“Alright, I’m ready. I’ll meet you guys outside,” he said, walking out of the armory.
[Hero Ring
Special Effect: Protection of the Gods, Mana Storage Up (Lvl.1)]
That’s actually a pretty decent bonus, what does protection of gods do?
“How many are we allowed to pick? Also what's the protection of the gods?”
“Protection of the gods is a special bonus that will protect you from getting controlled by certain evils. It isn’t a complete shield from all forms of evil, but it should stop some decently strong types if needed. You must always have it on you however, otherwise it will not work,” the king explained. “And please do not take more than one. Legends say it will take a great toll on the user if they were to use two or more artifacts.”
“I see. I’ll pick this one,” Jason replied, picking up a necklace.
[Hero Necklace
Special Effect: Protection of the Gods, Mana Recovery Up (Small)]
It’ll help recover faster, so I see no downside. Well, maybe being a necklace won’t be the best mid battle, but I’m also someone who is always gonna be on the front lines, so I guess it won’t matter.
Once they all picked a weapon, they were finally allowed to rest and were led to a fancy guest room.
Mia collapsed onto one of the couches, while Aiden and Arlo sat down on another. Tina took a chair from the guest room and sat down on the balcony. Jason paced around the room as he looked through his status.
“Wow. This world is something else, wouldn’t you say?” Aiden asked, turning to Arlo.
“It’s definitely not what I expected to do today. How did you guys end up here?” he replied, picking up one of the fruits on the table.
Everyone looked around silently to see who would go first, but it seemed like no one wanted to say. Jason sighed and stepped forward.
“I got hit by a truck. I guess you all died one way or another?” Jason asked. Aiden and Arlo nodded, while Tina seemed to be completely uninterested. Mia twirled the holy staff in her arms.
“Yeah… I don’t really want to talk about it,” Arlo replied. He dropped his shield onto the ground and rested his legs on the coffee table beside him.
Tina put her crossbow on the table and looked at everyone else.
“So, why did you pick a shield?” she asked, turning to Arlo. “I mean, you could have picked a good weapon instead.”
“My passive gives me extra defense, and this shield also gives defense on top of my extra defense, so my defense stat is through the roof,” he explained, tapping at the shield.
“Mine gives extra damage to magic, and so does the staff,” Mia said, tapping her staff on the ground.
“So how did you get every element available?” Jason asked.
“I don’t know. But somehow I have every element now.”
“Well, I guess you can pick up my slack if I fail to buff you all, so that’s cool,” Jason said. “Synthesis!”
He raised his hand and looked in front of him.
“What are you doing?” Aiden questioned, turning to the pacing hero.
“I’m trying to figure out what this skill does. What about you guys?”
“I got a passive skill that raises my sword mastery. I don’t know how that works, but I can’t complain. Apparently it levels up the more I use a sword in combat.”
“What did you get, Tina?” Arlo turned to the archer.
“Aimbot. And my crossbow gives me extra arrow range,” she replied, crossing her arms and putting her feet onto the railing. “So what do you think we should do?”
“We’ll see what these guys do first, and then see what we can do. But this kinda reminds me of games I used to play,” Aiden replied, tapping away at the air before him. “Even the status looks similar.”
“You too? I thought I got summoned into my video game for a second. Honestly, even though I just died, and I’m now in a place with a bunch of strangers, I’m kinda excited. I mean, new world, defeat monsters, become a hero. Why not?” Arlo chimed in.
“The manga and anime’s make it look easy. I read one isekai story where four dudes get summoned and three of them screw up so bad that the world almost implodes. And the guy with the least damage ends up the main dps for most of their raids. But that light novel version hasn’t been updated in like 3 years or so,” Jason replied as he scrolled through his help menu.
“Oh yeah, I remember that one. It’s the one where one of the 3 heroes got a time travel spin off?” Aiden asked.
“EY! That’s the one! Nice to know you’re cultured,” Jason smiled.
“Hazah! A man of quality!” Aiden exclaimed in an exaggerated tone. “So what does your skill do?”
“Hah! I know that meme. And I do not know what the hell synthesis does. Hm.”
Jason grabbed a nearby fruit and a cup.
“What are you doing?” Mia asked.
“Testing my ability. Ok. Synthesize this apple, into this cup. Synthesize!”
A glow came from the two and the apple jumped towards the cup and disappeared. As the glow faded, he was left with a red cup, instead of a transparent one.
“Huh… that’s cool,” Jason mumbled. A notification popped up and he frowned. “And my mana is gone.”
“Interesting. So you can sacrifice an item to change another item?” Mia asked, grabbing the cup.
“Apparently so. Doesn’t seem useful in combat. Unless I can synthesize a nail into the brain of the enemy… actually… I’ma ask for a nail and try that tomorrow. So does anyone have anything else to say?”
Instead of replying, Tina pulled out a pack of cigarettes and a lighter.
“Woah! You smoke?” Mia asked with a mixture of worry and disgust.
“Yeah, want one?”
Mia shook her head and the gang split up. Aiden and Arlo began to discuss game terms and possible grinding areas. Tina barely talked to anyone and instead continued to stare at the city below. Mia played around with her staff. Jason began to pick up random things and use synthesis on them any time his mana bar filled up. He saw that a small bar appeared next to the level and began to fill every time he used the ability, so he guessed that if he used it enough, it would level up.
After a bit of time maids came in and gave the heroes different kinds of food, followed by leading them to each of their rooms. Apparently they were short on rooms due to a lot of nobles coming in to greet the heroes, so the rooms they got were spread out all around the castle. Jason and Mia were the last ones left and they were slowly coming up on the next free room.
“Well, good luck till tomorrow. Try to get some sleep today so that you can carry us in the support section,” Jason said, opening the door.
“I’m sure you’ll do better than me. All of your magic is focused in support, while mine is spread out,” she replied.
“I guess that’s true. Let’s hope I don’t accidentally debuff all of you mid battle. Night,” and without waiting for an answer, he closed the door and jumped onto the bed.
“Right this way, hero. Your room is close from here,” he heard the maid say, as the sound of footsteps became fainter and fainter.
Summoned into a new world huh? Well, I know one thing for sure, if I return, I’ll be able to write one hell of an isekai story or fanfic.
Without bothering with clothes, Jason soon fell asleep as he wondered what the next day would bring.
