SIDE CHAPTER: SLAVE MARKET

She doesn’t remember how long its been since she’s been out of a cage, but soon she will be free, someone will buy her soon, or at least that is what she had been told. The man looked terrifying, he hid behind a wooden mask and his bright green eyes seemed to glow in the darkness, but not like her eyes, it was almost luminescent . Normally she would be afraid of being bought by someone, but she felt calm.

He had said the name of her dear friend, but she is sure that it wasn’t the man in the mask who bought her. It was 4 human adventurers looking for a child. She didn’t know why but the older slaves said that she was lucky. Aura was lucky? She asked a fellow neighbor. “she’ll die quickly” is all her neighbor responded with.

“Am I lucky?” Yea asked her neighbor, the filth covering her no longer smelled as terribly as it once did. The woman in the cage next to Yeo looked at her with sorrowful eyes and simply nodded her head. The woman, holding her tears back, smiles to yeo. “Yes, your lucky”, she says extending a hand from her cage into yeos. So I’ll die quickly too? The thought calmed her, and yet it felt wrong. She felt that something good was going to happen.

The woman’s hand was warm on Yeos dirt grimed cheek. The woman looked sad for yeo, but yeo only smiled, trying to comfort her neighbor.

“Your not lucky, girl.” The woman lets go of yeo, startled by the voice that came from the other side of Yeo. A new neighbor. She had a long tail her hair a crimson red, Yeo for a moment thought that her hair was soaked In blood. her Head was that of human but her nose and eyes were that of lizard. Her arms had thick green scales that went from her legs to her neck and most of her face. Only her cheeks and her lips had a somewhat similar appearance to that of most species.

Yeo immediately understands that she is “Draconian” yeo lets those words out, in surprise.

The woman smiles.

“why so surprised?” Her father had told her about Draconians, They are a fierce and powerful race known more for their combat prowess than for their magic. They don’t often end as slaves and they never end up as slaves for humans or any race other than draconian, its their pride that even their slaves cannot be bought by those of the other races. To the draconian, even their enslaved brethren are superior to the other races.

“Shut up lizard” The slave trader walks down the aisle of cages, stopping right in front of yeo. He smiles a wicked grin.

“Fuck you.” The Draconian curses the slaver. The slaver responding to the taunt, moves towards the Draconian and opens her cage. With two hands he pulls the enormous woman out of the cage and onto the floor.

“You lizards only learn with a good beating don’t you?” The slaver screams as he kicks the Draconian’s face into the ground not letting her rest for even a moment before pulling her hair and forcing her to look at him.

“You talk again I break you arm” She gives him a wry, bloodied, smile before spiting her blood soaked saliva onto his face.

He pushes her to the ground, confident that she can’t hurt him because of the slave collar and snaps her arm in to. Yeo jumps at the sound of the snap her arm makes, but the Draconian doesn’t flinch.

Instead she begins to laugh “HAHAHA” as he picks her up and shoves her back into her cage; and she continues to laugh as the slaver locks her cage shut.

“Whats so fucking funny?” He screams at her, half in fear and half in anger.

“Do you know what my name” she says blood trickling down her mouth and onto her rags.

Draconian names always have a meaning behind. Everyone knows this, but the slaver doesn’t want to talk to her anymore.

“I don’t give a fuc!!” before he can finish his sentence, she grabs him with her left arm, the one yet to be broken, covering his mouth with her oddly feminine hand. Fear overwhelms him as he hears his bones crack under the pressure of her fingers. She forces his face against the cage, a loud thud resounds throughout the low-lit tent.

“My name is Kalliet” She whispers into his ear as it grinds against the metal cage.

As soon as she lets go the slaver falls backwards his heart pounding in fear for his life. Her eyes gleam an emerald green and stare back at him, deep as an ocean and seemingly eyeing him thinking of every possible way to kill him.

His legs force him up, telling him needs to get away from her. He disappears out of view.

“Perhaps, girl, you are lucky” Kalliet whispers to herself.

…………….

“sir.” The young slaver speaks to his boss.

“What do you have to report” the boss asks as he he sits down on his chair. “I’ve seen a demon child at a nearby inn.”

“oh?” The boss’s ears perk up at the news. Demons make good slaves because humans have less of a problem with their rights. With humans there is always someone pestering slavers, but no one ever says anything when it’s a demon slave, or a draconian for that matter.

“we should take her.”

“She never leaves the inn sir.”

The boss smiles to himself as he looks at his subordinate.

“Than we’ll just have to go pay for nights stay.”

This is just time too, since the lord of the town will arrive tomorrow. He would certainly love to buy children. With two demons, that’s a lot of gold, the wretched man thinks to himself.
