Chapter 4: The God of Fools

Chapter 4: The God of Fools

“Sup kid.”(man) he says with a grin so wide you’d think a car would fit in his mouth.

“Who?” Did I just speak. I look at my hands. Hands?? What the hell is going on?? All of a sudden I have a human body and am able to speak normally.

“Calm yourself mortal. This domain shows only what you see yourself as.”(Man) Is that so? I guess, subconsciously, I still myself in my old human body. With that description of this place, it makes it sound like its heaven. I say looking at the man sitting on his cloud.

“Unfazed by my ability to read your mind, are you. Many humans are startled from that fact, not the body thing. Though I suppose you were just in a body of a mimic”(Man) he says looking into the distant clouds behind me. I respond to his pondering with my thoughts. Human become afraid when they cannot hide behind their thoughts. I hold no such fear. I hold no such fear because I make it a point to hide nothing about me.

“HAHAH. You talk as if you are no longer human.”(man) I open my lips for a moment, but before I can speak he continues.

“You are still human child. Once you die you’ll be reborn into another creature, but you have not died yet, now have you.” (Man)He looks at me with an intensity that is difficult to describe, almost as if he is staring at my very existence.

“No not dead at all, your memories remain intact therefor who you were is still who you are. Running away from that won’t help boy.”(Man)

He tells me as if he knows something even I do not know. Before he can continue his speech, I speak. Am I still human? Do I even want to be? I hold such a strong disdain for humans that I don’t think I want to be called that.

“Have I m               et you before? Will you put me in another body?” Those are my next thoughts. He talks as if he knows me and this place resemble people’s idea of heaven. The only logical conclusion is that he has allowed me to retain my memories and put me in the body of a monster.

“Haha. No I did not put you in that body boy. You have also not died yet.” What!! I think to myself.  How is that possible. Who else has the power to put me in the body of a monster in another world. Surly only God can do something like that.

“Though you are correct I am a god. Though perhaps not the god you think I am. The reason I have appeared before you is because I think we can help each other.” (Man)

So, he is a god. Though it seems gods in this world are have no relation to  my world. Not only that but there is more than one god, judging by this conversation. That still brings up a problem with what he is telling me.

“What could a god possibly receive from a human?” I said a bit skeptical about the whole thing. There is no way something as convenient as a god helping you, is to happen. Even if he could get something for me, why wouldn’t he just force me to do it?

“Simple, I need you to be my figure head in the physical world.”  My brow raises itself up high, curious about the god’s words.

“I am not the only god in this world boy. So what do you think would happen if gods of equal strength were to fight? (man)

If people with such immense power were to fight, I can’t imagine it being pretty. It’s like my world; all the major powers have nuclear bombs, because of that if a country use that weapon, the planet would be destroyed. For gods it must be the same. Isn’t that right God?

If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

“Exactly!! That is why we have come up with a compromise” (Man)

You use Humans as figure heads and deal with your fights with us. The god with the strongest figure head gets there way. Is that it? Are even Gods fighting over territory? I don’t want to fight like a tin solider for something I do not believe in. Soldiers disgust me more than the average human. People who follow orders without question, I hate them!! And I sure as hell don’t want to become one.

“Well that is partially correct. Though humans are not the only creature in this world. For instance, the child you are protecting, she is a part of the demon race” (Man)

Crap With all that has happened I forgot all about her. I muscles contract and my body stiffens  think about what might be happening to the girl.

“Worry not, Time here goes very slowly. The golem has not moved from his spot”(man) he tells me trying to ease my worry. So, she is a demon. I Does that mean she is evil? Is she to young to have horns or is she tricking me?

“No boy. Demons here are no different from normal people in this world, she is not tricking you. The child by even your stand point is indeed a child.”(man)

It seems you can’t hide things from a god. But that girl even if you told me she was evil, I would protect her. Children are free of sin, is what they say. To a degree, I believe that. Plus she even if she was evil I doubt she would bother to trick a Mimic like me.

“And territorial disputes are also not really something we care about.”(Man) He brings the focus back to our discussion.

“It is not like we have a claim on a specific area. Rather it is Ideals we fight over. We want others to follow our ideals because that is what we think is best for you mortals. If a figure head loses it means that the victor gets to spread their ideals in that area and even control it like a king, so I supposed to degree it is territorial, but it is also more than that. There are also many more things that you will probably discover but all in due time.

Now that is what most gods desire, but I desire power.”(Man)

It seems even gods desire power. I say as my face contorts in disgust. I will not aid you not return me at once!! I demand. This just brings me back to my world, where everyone blindly wanted power, not caring about the mountain of corpse they used to get there. I am not Human!! I don’t want to be one.

“A bit cheeky, aren’t we? If it were any other god you would have been cursed and thrown back into that body of yours.” He says with a frown but it quickly turns it into his radiant smile. I feel like a son being looked at by their father. Not that I am familiar with the feeling.

“But I love fools who are in over their heads. HAHAHA. Anyways” He quickly changes his expression into a serious, almost robotic, one.

“No I do not desire power for its sake….”(Man) He stops talking, and looks around, contemplating on whether he should tell me what is on his mind or not.

“*Sigh* That hypothetical situation I was talking about. Well…… It actually happened. I don’t want to go into all the details it would take too long but essentially, I lost most of my power during the war. My power is trapped within a couple of dungeons.”

So here is the deal. You become my figure head, if you do that saving the child won’t be too difficult. Then You destroy the dungeons that hold my power inside them. Deal!!??”(Man)

Why don’t you just get your power back yourself? I said skeptically. And if there was such a war against Gods why are there survivors. Perhaps the gods in this world are not as powerful as I am giving them credit for…

“Well if you must know it is because the other gods will try to kill me if they found out that I am in a weakened state. As for you second question, the answer is complicated but the reason there are survivors is only a stroke of luck, I am sure you will discover the whole truth along the way if you do what I ask of you. ”(Man)

I think about it for moment, Hopes voice still influencing my thought process.

“Very well. I will only if you let me do what I want” I will not become a slave, especially a Gods slave.

“HAHAH.I like you kid!! Bargaining with God is not something normal people would do. Sure I don’t care what you do, Destroying the dungeons that hold my power is beneficial to you too, by the way”(Man)

”I’ll keep that in mind”

“By the way. I am Loom. THE GOD OF FOOLS!!!”

A bright flash covers my field of vision. Once my vison readjust I notice that I have returned into the physical world. The little girl now cowering in a corner.

Then I look at the golem and see…
