With Turius's letter in hand, Tookami felt a renewed sense of purpose. The castle's secrets beckoned, and he was determined to uncover the enigmas that had long been concealed within its walls. Guided by the elementals, he continued his exploration.
The second floor of the castle seemed to host the abode of elite guards and knights. Their quarters, adorned with suits of armor and banners of noble houses, told a tale of grandeur and valor. But time had left its mark, and the rooms now held only echoes of the past.
As he moved through the noble quarters, Tookami marveled at the relics of a time gone by. The grandeur of the knights who had once called this place home seemed to come alive in his mind's eye. He imagined the clank of armor and the camaraderie of warriors sharing tales of battles won and lost.
But his journey didn't end there. The allure of the castle's mysteries pulled him upward, to the third floor. Here, he found himself standing before an alchemist's laboratory, a place where the boundaries between science and magic blurred.
The laboratory was a wonder to behold, filled with bubbling flasks, ornate scrolls, and arcane apparatuses that seemed to hum with dormant power. Shelves held rows of vials and containers, each containing magical ingredients of untold significance.
Tookami's eyes widened with wonder as he examined the myriad of magical items stored here. Scrolls of forgotten spells, potions brimming with mystic potential, and artifacts that held the promise of untold power.
As he moved through the laboratory, his fingers traced the intricate symbols etched into the alchemical tools. The elementals, with their ethereal presence, observed with a sense of shared curiosity, as if drawn to the arcane energies that permeated the room.
With each step, Tookami felt the weight of history and the allure of knowledge. The laboratory held secrets that beckoned to him, inviting him to delve deeper into the mysteries of this uncharted realm.
As he marveled at the magical items and alchemical wonders, he would begin to write the floor plans of this structure as so, “Basement: Torture Room, First Floor: Dining Hall, Second Floor: Knights Quarters, Third Floor: Laboratory,” and he would leave more space for the remaining rooms.
Tookami's exploration of the castle's third floor had revealed the wonders of the alchemist's laboratory and a wealth of magical items. Yet, the allure of the castle's mysteries persisted, and his curiosity remained insatiable.
As he moved through the laboratory, his eyes were drawn to a particularly regal door at the far end of the room. The door's ornate carvings and gilded handles hinted at the secrets that might lie beyond. With a sense of anticipation, he opened the door and found himself ascending yet another staircase.
The fourth floor of the castle stood in stark contrast to the richness of the floors below. It was a space devoid of opulence, a square room of grand proportions, but conspicuously empty. The walls, though still adorned with faded tapestries, held no suits of armor, no banners, and no furnishings.
Tookami stood in the heart of this empty chamber, his gaze scanning the featureless expanse. The elementals, their forms aglow with curiosity, hovered nearby, as eager as their master to uncover the meaning of this curious space.
The emptiness of the room raised a multitude of questions. What had once occupied this place, and why had it been stripped of its former grandeur? The answers remained elusive, but Tookami was determined to delve further.
Tookami's exploration of the fourth floor had led him to a room of eerie emptiness, leaving him with a sense of wonder and bewilderment. But as he continued to search for the castle's secrets, his gaze fell upon an odd curtain that draped a section of the north end wall.
A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.
Intrigued by the mystery it concealed, he reached out and pulled the curtain aside. To his surprise, it revealed a small, 5’x5’ sized room adorned with two torches and a pull-lever. The air was heavy with ancient enchantments, and a sense of latent magic filled the air.
Taking hold of the lever, he pulled it, but nothing happened. The elementals, with their ethereal presence, watched with interest as their master attempted to activate the contraption.
With a sense of determination, Tookami turned to Infernaeus, the Fire Elemental, and ordered, "Light the torches."
Infernaeus responded to his command, using his fire magic to ignite the torches. The chamber was now bathed in a warm, flickering glow.
Tookami, feeling a renewed sense of purpose, pulled the lever once more. As he did, the floor of the small room began to descend beneath them, revealing that they were within a literal elevator, powered by magic itself.
The elevator ascended with a soft hum, and as it reached the final floor, the doors opened to reveal a room of breathtaking grandeur. The master room was unlike any other, with stained glass windows on every wall, each depicting intricate scenes of magic and mystery.
Tookami and the elementals stood in awe of the room's appearance. The bedroom had a cathedral-like ambiance, with towering arches, dark wood furnishings, and an air of mystic reverence. It was as if the room itself held a sense of dark enchantment, embracing the arcane and the enigmatic.
The stained glass windows filtered Nexus's unique twilight into a mesmerizing display of colors, casting an otherworldly glow upon the room. The atmosphere was heavy with the echoes of history, and it left Tookami and the elementals captivated by the room's extraordinary beauty.
With every step they took, the room seemed to resonate with a sense of ancient power and the weight of the castle's past. It was a place of wonder and intrigue, an emblem of the castle's enigmatic history. He would finish the writing in his journal, “Fourth Floor: To Be Determined, Top Floor: MY MASTER BEDROOM”
As Tookami gazed out of the master room's stained glass windows, his mind swirled with contemplations of the world that lay beyond. Nexus had proven itself to be a realm of wonders and secrets, and its vastness was both captivating and daunting.
Turning his attention to the elementals, he began to speak, his voice carrying a weight of determination and purpose. "This world is going to be a lot to explore and handle on our own. The magic in the Evermore realm is obviously quite strong if one mere elf could transport himself and this castle here. Though I am unsure as to why he wouldn't realm hop to another universe where he didn't die, perhaps he was sick of life."
He paused for a moment, letting his thoughts settle, and then continued with unwavering resolve. "I know what I want to do."
Tookami clapped his hands twice, and the elementals hovered closer, their ethereal forms attentive.
"You three are to guard this castle by all means necessary until I return," he declared, his eyes locking onto theirs. "We shall remain connected by mind. I am going to Evermore to find out how long this castle has been here, and I am also going to try and come back with some people so we can begin forging a new city here."
The elementals, understanding their master's command, nodded in unison.
"There is much more to explore," Tookami acknowledged, "but I want help. What I want is what I will get now that I am this realm's master and king."
With his intentions declared and his resolve unwavering, the elementals descended using the magic-powered elevator. As they descended, Tookami began the intricate incantations of his Realm Hopping spell, his voice resonating with the power of ancient magic.
"Cosmos," he intoned, "bring me to Ironforge in the realm known as Evermore."
The magic surged around him, enveloping him in a whirlwind of energy. With a final burst of light, he vanished from the master room of the castle, leaving behind only the echoes of his voice and the promise of a new journey in a realm far beyond Nexus.
As Tookami's presence faded from the castle, the elementals remained vigilant, ready to guard their newfound home and the secrets it held within its ancient walls.
