The Past

January 14, 1963

Imperial Explorer was the second-best cruise ship in the USA, with the Majestic Odyssey topping the list by a small amount. Everyone boarding imperial Explorer, 25 crew members and 64 passangers, were having some of the best times of their life. Pastries, drinks, vodka, you name it. It had everything. One such couple sitting at the dinning table was Emily Clark, Nathenial Clark and their daughters Mary and lisa, playing with each other.

“Stop fighting you two, the pastries gonna fall over” Nathaniel laughed as he gestured towards their daughters.

Emily linked her arm with nathenial and whispered, “Oh hubby.. iam not kidding when I say that you look like an exact replica of paul newmann today”

Nathenial looked back at Emily, his eyes stunning and majestic, “Do i?” he replied, his voice low and mellifluous.

“Yes you do...and iam glad you took the leave” Emily replied with a charming voice

Nathenial just smiled while uplifting his glass of wine.

“did you feel that?” Another guy sitting at a dining table adjacent to nathenial asked

“Excuse me?” Nathenial turned around and replied with confusion.

Suddenly, the ship began to violently shake, causing tables to topple, glasses to shatter, and the floor to rotate at a 45-degree angle. With a deafening crash, everyone fell to the ground, unconscious.

At present ,the group approached the hospital, its open doors inviting them in with a sense of familiarity, as if it were a returning friend. But at the same time, there was an air of caution that lingered around the entrance. The white walls and the somber atmosphere reminded them of the horrors they had faced within these walls before.

The signboard above them read "Lifespring City Hospital," its words etched in their memories forever. Victor took the first step, his eyes scanning the surroundings. Mark followed closely behind, holding his pistol firmly in his hand, ready to protect his comrades.

Jeanette and Shia carried Jason, their unconscious friend, in between them. His limp hands hung over their shoulders, a testament to the injuries he had sustained. The group approached the bloodstains on the floor, being there just as it was last time.

But this time, the situation was different. Victor had meticulously studied the hospital's layout beforehand, and they had a clear plan in place. They knew what they needed to do: gather the medical supplies, find the thermal cameras, and treat Jason's injuries.

As they moved through the hospital, every step felt deliberate and calculated. They stayed together, moving cautiously through the hallways, their eyes scanning every corner for any signs of danger.

The tension in the air was palpable, and the group felt the weight of their exhaustion bearing down on them. Their lack of sleep had started to take a toll on their cognitive functions, and they knew they needed to rest soon.

“This is it... This is the room” Victor nodded and gestured towards the gate.

“You sure?" Mark asked

“Damn sure” Victor replied with confidence

Victor took a deep breath and stepped back, allowing Mark to take the lead. Mark cautiously approached the door and slowly turned the handle. With a gentle push, the door creaked open, revealing a dimly lit room. Mark quickly scanned the area, his gun at the ready, searching for any signs of the entity they were trying to avoid.

Once he deemed it safe, Mark motioned for the others to enter. They stepped inside, the sterile scent of disinfectant filling their nostrils. The room was lined with metal cabinets, each one packed to the brim with medical supplies. Mark wasted no time and began to carefully search through the cabinets, gathering the specific supplies they needed.

Victor watched as Mark worked, his eyes scanning the room for any potential threats. The faint sound of footsteps echoed through the hallway, causing him to tense up. But as the footsteps grew more distant, he breathed a sigh of relief.

With the medical supplies secured, Victor began to mentally plan out their next move. They still needed to find the thermal cameras and treat Jason's injuries.

After securing the thermal cameras, the group made their way towards the conference room. Victor had already scouted the area and found it to be a secure location with only one entrance.

As they entered the conference room, Victor quickly instructed everyone to help barricade the entrance with anything they could find: chairs, tables, and even a large whiteboard.

The group worked quickly and efficiently, piling up the furniture against the door to create a makeshift blockade. Once they were satisfied that it was secure, they all sat down, exhausted but relieved to have found a safe spot.

Mark leaned against the wall, his gun still in hand. He scanned the room, keeping watch for any sign of danger. Jeanette tended to Jason, who was still unconscious but stable.

Victor surveyed their surroundings, making mental notes of any weaknesses in their defenses. He knew that they couldn't stay in one place for too long, but for now, they needed to rest and regroup.

After some time, Nathaniel and his family woke up, still recovering from minor injuries. They struggled to understand what had happened, initially thinking that they had collided with another ship. Meanwhile, they could hear loud chatter and discussion around.

Nathaniel's friend Teddy rubbed his head and asked, "Did the ship crash?"

"I'm not sure," Nathaniel replied, getting up to check.

Just as he was about to leave, Emily gently grabbed his hand, stopping him in his tracks.

"Don't go," she said, her voice filled with worry.

"I'll be okay, just go back to our cabin and look after the kids," Nathaniel calmly reassured her, placing his hand over hers.

As Nathaniel and Teddy hurried to the control station to get some answers, they were stopped by a group of police officers who were blocking the entrance.

“I just need to see-” Nathaniel said, trying to push past the police officer and enter the control station.

The officer stopped him in his tracks, firmly holding him back.

"I'm sorry, sir, but we can't allow anyone to enter the control station at this time," the officer replied sternly.

Teddy stepped forward, attempting to reason with the officers. "Officer, we just need to know what's happening.. can't you let us in for a moment?"

"We'll inform you if any information comes up, sir. We are still trying to process it ourselves," the same officer responded, his voice firm and unwavering.

Nathaniel's frustration boiled over. "Our families might be in danger alright, if it's a crash or something, just tell us!" he yelled, his voice tinged with anger.

Teddy nodded in agreement. "Yeah, you can't just keep us in the dark. What if it's like the Titanic? We can't risk it!"

Despite their protests, the officers refused to let them pass, leaving the two men feeling even more helpless and confused. In a fit of frustration, Nathaniel tried to force his way past the officers, but one of them forcefully threw him back to the ground, causing him to seethe with anger.

He glared at the officer before finally giving up and storming away, his mind racing with questions and fear.

Undeterred, they decided to head up to the deck, hoping to catch a glimpse of what was going on outside. As they emerged onto the open-air space, they were confronted with a surreal sight: a city street lay before them.

But that wasn't the strangest part. As Nathaniel and Teddy looked to the back of the ship, they saw that it had seemingly crashed into a building in reverse. The situation was utterly perplexing, and the two men could only exchange bewildered glances as they struggled to make sense of what they were seeing.

As Nathaniel and Teddy looked around, they noticed more people emerging from the ship, their faces etched with confusion and fear. Some of them stepped out onto the deck, looking out at the strange surroundings. The streets were barren and the buildings were hollow, as if abandoned for years.

Suddenly, they heard a commotion behind them. Turning around, they saw a group of police officers and mercenaries emerging from the ship, carrying weapons and equipment. The passengers watched in silence as the group made their way towards the building.

One of the officers approached the passengers, looking stern and serious. "Ladies and gentlemen, we are here to investigate an anomaly that has occurred on this ship," he said in a firm tone. "We need everyone to remain calm and follow our instructions. We will take you to a safe location where you will be protected."

Several passengers raised their hands and began asking questions, but the officer cut them off. "I understand that you have concerns, but right now we need your cooperation. Please trust us and follow our instructions. Your safety is our top priority."

Despite the officer's reassurances, many passengers looked worried and confused. Some of them whispered to each other, wondering what kind of anomaly could have caused such a strange turn of events.

Unbeknownst to the passengers, the police officers and mercenaries had already discovered the truth about the rear section of the ship. They knew that some people had died in the crash, but they decided to keep this information under wraps for the time being. They believed that revealing the truth would only cause panic and chaos, which could further endanger the passengers.

Nathenial and teddy seemed to be the only passangers to know the truth, so they leaned a little bit more, trying to see more of what happened.

They had expected to see some damage, but what they saw was beyond anything they could have imagined. The entire back of the ship was completely destroyed, with twisted metal and debris scattered everywhere. Flames licked at the wreckage, and thick black smoke billowed into the sky. Their heart sank as they realized that there was no way anyone could have survived that kind of impact.

As they stood there in shock, a nearby officer caught his eye. "Sir, we need you two to return to your cabin," the officer said, his tone firm. "We'll handle the situation from here."

Nathaniel and Teddy returned towards their cabin but Nathaniel couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. He didn't trust the officers to tell them the truth about what had happened.

"Teddy, I don't trust those assholes," Nathaniel said, his voice tense.

"Me neither, but we can't do nothing, we can't leave our families alone" Teddy replied, trying to reassure Nathaniel.

Nathaniel nodded, his mind racing with thoughts of how to keep his family safe. They quickly made their way back to their cabin to secure their families.

As they locked the door, Nathaniel couldn't shake the feeling of unease. He decided to keep watch at the door, while Teddy tried to keep the kids calm.

Meanwhile, the officers cautiously made their way through the building, their flashlights casting eerie shadows on the walls. The air was thick with dust and the silence was oppressive. Suddenly, one of the officers heard a faint scuttling sound coming from the darkness ahead.

"Did you hear that?" he whispered to his colleagues. They all froze, straining to listen. But the sound had stopped.

As the officers continued their search, they felt an overwhelming sense of unease. It was as if something was watching them, waiting to strike. Suddenly, they heard a blood-curdling screech coming from one of the rooms.

They rushed towards the source of the sound, their guns drawn. But as they entered the room, they were greeted with a sight that would haunt them for the rest of their lives.

A creature, unlike anything they had ever seen, was crouched in the corner. It had a humanoid shape, mottled grey skin, razor-sharp claws, and glowing blue eyes that seemed to pierce through their souls. The creature hissed at them, baring its teeth in a menacing snarl.

The officers opened fire, but the creature was too quick. It leapt towards them, its claws slashing through the air. Three officers fell to the ground, their bodies torn apart by the creature's razor-sharp claws.

The remaining officers scrambled back, trying to reload their guns. But the creature was relentless. It charged towards them, its eyes glowing with a sinister blue light. Just as it was about to pounce on them, a group of mercenaries burst into the room, assault rifles blazing.

The creature let out a final screech as it fell to the ground, dead. The room was filled with the acrid smell of gunpowder and blood. The officers stared at the mercenaries in shock and gratitude.
